"What happened to your father? Have you forgotten?" The old man repeated his familiar refrain.
"I haven't forgotten, and I've said it before: I won't follow in my father's footsteps," Jeffrey replied firmly.
"Then you should kick that woman Rachel out of the Gray family and make sure she never appears in your life again!" Old Master Gray said irritably.
"That might be impossible." Jeffrey's gaze darkened.
The moment he heard his grandfather say that, his heart tightened instinctively, almost rejecting the suggestion without a second thought.
"You–" Old Master Gray choked on his words, glaring at his grandson.
"Grandpa, I won't repeat my father's mistakes, so I will keep everything under my control. I will make Rachel so accustomed to my presence that she won't be able to leave me," he said with a low smile, though his eyes carried a warning. "So, I hope you can stay out of my affairs. If you interfere too much, I can't guarantee I won't take measures to limit your actions."
