Chapter 7 - 7.The Blood In The Sand

The desert split open like a wounded beast, sand hissing as something massive churned below.

Jinwoo was already airborne, body twisting like a ribbon of shadow. His boot slammed into empty air—

[Skill: Moonwalk]

—with a crack of kinetic force, launching him higher just as a sandworm burst from beneath.

"Too slow," he muttered.

He flipped mid-air and came down hard, heel-first onto the worm's skull.

[Skill: Tempest Kick]

A howling slash of compressed air erupted downward. It scythed through the worm's armored head in a single, vicious arc. Flesh split. A geyser of ichor exploded from its neck as it thrashed and collapsed beneath him.

[Kill Confirmed. Sandworm eliminated.]

Jinwoo landed in the crater it left behind, knees slightly bent, breathing steady.

"One down," he said with a half-smile. "Forty-nine to go."

The dunes rumbled like a drumline. Twelve more tremors. Eighteen. No—more.

They were converging.

From the sky, the desert looked like a hungry, shifting ocean. Dozens of sandworms erupted in synchronized waves, jaws wide, moving like creatures obeying a hive-mind instinct to kill.

Jinwoo blurred.

[Skill: Soru]

A whip-crack of sound. He reappeared beside one worm mid-lunge, crouched low, coiled like a spring. His fist drew back, muscle and spirit concentrating into a single point.

[Skill: Iron Fist]

A strike like a warhammer landed square into the worm's gut. The flesh buckled. Bones cracked. The monster's body arced upward like a breached whale before crashing to the earth in ruin.

[Critical Damage. Target Staggered. Kill Confirmed.]

[Okay, seriously? Most people panic in the Penalty Zone. You? You're out here playing Whack-a-Mole.]

"I came here to fight," Jinwoo said, walking into the chaos. "Might as well make it fun."

[Yeah, well, you're making me feel sorry for worms now. And that's new.]

Another creature lunged at him from the sand. He didn't even blink.

His eyes narrowed slightly—just enough.

[Skill: Observation Haki]

He felt the killing intent before it struck. A shift in the wind. A ripple underfoot.

Jinwoo dropped under the attack in a blink and spun, driving a sharp kick into the worm's midsection.

[Skill: Tempest Kick]

Compressed air detonated like a mine. The worm's body bent backward mid-air, torn open by the invisible blade.

He didn't wait for it to fall.

Three more closed in from behind.

[Skill: Soru]

He dashed sideways in an instant, drawing his body low and lashing out with an upward palm strike into the neck of the closest worm.

[Skill: Iron Fist]

Its entire body convulsed before going limp.

He slid beneath the next worm, flipped, and leapt again.

[Skill: Moonwalk]

His legs cracked the air as he double-jumped mid-flight, angling his descent with a spinning kick.

[Skill: Tempest Kick]

The resulting air-blade scythed down like divine judgment. Another worm fell, cleaved clean.

[You are aware you're combo-chaining like a lunatic, right? You've had these skills for, what, an hour?]

"I've had Garp's instincts for days," he replied, shaking blood from his knuckles. "Feels like I was born with them."

[Ugh. Garp would either salute you or knock you out cold.]

A massive worm lunged straight for him, fast as a missile.

[Skill: Soru]

Jinwoo vanished again—then reappeared mid-air, upside down above the worm's head. He spun—

[Skill: Moonwalk]

—and launched downward like a spear.

[Skill: Iron Fist]

He punched through the top of the creature's head, the sound of skull fracturing echoing like cannonfire.

[System Notice: That worm was two seconds from biting your face off.]

"I knew," he said, landing smoothly. "It hesitated."

They didn't hesitate now.

The desert erupted.

Five. Ten. Fifteen. They were all coming.

He grinned.

He ran toward them.

[System Note: Reminder—there's still a boss. Maybe slow down a little? Just a little?]

"Not a chance."

He launched himself again, using the body of a falling worm as a springboard.

[Skill: Moonwalk]x[Skill: Soru]

The air cracked behind him as he pinballed between two worms mid-air. He planted a spinning roundhouse kick into one—

[Skill: Tempest Kick]

—and slammed a crushing elbow into the other's exposed eye socket.

[Skill: Iron Fist]

They dropped like shot deer.

Below, three more tried to ambush from beneath.

He paused for just a second—eyes closed.

[Skill: Observation Haki]

He exhaled and moved.

[Skill: Soru]

Jinwoo appeared behind the nearest worm mid-burst and jammed his fist into its side.

[Skill: Iron Fist]

The ground shook as it collapsed.

The other two collided in confusion.

He spun—jumped.

[Skill: Moonwalk]

Then dove straight between them with a pair of spinning air-slashes.

[Skill: Tempest Kick]

The cuts crossed through both in a flash of violence.

[System Notification]

[Sandworm Kill Count: 13/50]

[System Comment: They were just trying to live, man.]

Jinwoo stood alone again in a field of twitching corpses, panting lightly, eyes sharp and locked on the horizon.

More were coming.

"I'm just getting started."

---

The battlefield stank of ichor and crushed bone. The sand had turned rust-colored, stained by the shredded remains of a dozen desert predators.

Jinwoo stood in the center of the carnage, barely winded.

Another tremor rippled underfoot.

He cracked his neck. "Next."

The sand exploded—three worms at once.

Jinwoo disappeared in a blur of motion.

[Skill: Soru]

He reappeared above them, arms folded as the air seemed to pause.

Then, he snapped into action.

[Skill: Moonwalk]

He kicked off the air, diving at the leftmost worm.

[Skill: Iron Fist]

His haki-coated knuckles drove into the worm's forehead like a falling comet. The skull imploded with a crunch.

The second worm lunged from beneath—he met it mid-air with a spinning heel.

[Skill: Tempest Kick]

The shockwave carved straight through its torso. It collapsed, twitching, already dead.

The third tried to retreat.

"Cute."

He launched again.

[Skill: Soru]

One instant—he was behind it. The worm sensed it too late.

[Skill: Iron Fist]

His punch blew out its side, gore spraying in wide arcs across the dunes.

[System Notification]

[Sandworm Kill Count: 16/50]

[Observation Haki – Level Up! → Lv. 2]

[Soru – Level Up! → Lv. 2]

[System Comment: You're actually evolving mid-slaughter. Like some kind of stylish parasite.]

"More like a hungry one," Jinwoo replied, stretching. "Still warming up."

A group of seven sandworms rose together in a coordinated wave, their movements tighter—faster.

[Oh look, the hive finally figured out teamwork. How sweet. Shame they're still worms.]

Jinwoo didn't even wait for them to attack.

He dashed between the first two with terrifying precision.

[Skill: Soru]

A trail of displaced air and blood followed in his wake as he rocketed between them, delivering blows too fast to track.

[Skill: Iron Fist]x3

He didn't stop moving. Each punch slammed with the force of a wrecking ball.

Worms dropped. Skulls shattered.

He landed mid-sprint, spun—

[Skill: Moonwalk]

—and launched into the air again, ricocheting off a corpse mid-flight.

Another two lunged. He raised a knee.

[Skill: Tempest Kick]

The compressed air detonated like a landmine between them, splitting both in half.

[Sandworm Kill Count: 23/50]

[System Comment: This is starting to feel like bullying.]

"They started it."

[Oh yeah, blame the giant dirt snakes for existing. Flawless logic.]

The swarm grew frantic.

A dozen sandworms circled him from all angles. The dunes hissed like boiling water.

And Jinwoo smiled.

He closed his eyes.

[Skill: Observation Haki]

He felt them all. Not saw—felt. Their positions. Their anger. Their hunger.

His breath slowed. His hands loosened.

Then—

[Skill: Soru]

He weaved through them like a phantom, striking in flickers of violence. Not a wasted movement. Not a drop of panic.

His kicks burst worm bodies like ripe fruit.

His punches landed like thunder.

One worm tried to crush him from above. He dropped low and caught it with an uppercut.

[Skill: Iron Fist]

The entire creature launched into the sky.

He kicked off its rising body.

[Skill: Moonwalk]

Mid-air, he twisted, aiming downward.

Both fists ignited with haki.

He landed on another worm—

[Skill: Iron Fist] x2

—and cracked it in half.

[System Notification]

[Garp Template Fusion Rate: 15% Achieved.][New Skill Unlocked: Brawler's Fist – Lv. 1]– A barrage of haki-coated punches delivered in a single heartbeat. Each strike deals 10x base damage. Brutal. Unrelenting. Absolute.

[System Comment: Oh, fantastic. You just unlocked your 'I-punch-reality-itself' mode.]

Jinwoo exhaled, eyes gleaming. "Been waiting for this one."

A swarm of five worms rushed him together.

He didn't dodge.

He walked toward them.

They lunged.

And he moved.

[Skill: Brawler's Fist]

His fists became a blur. A storm.

Each punch exploded with force. One heartbeat. Dozens of hits.

The worms never had a chance.

Skulls caved. Bodies ruptured. The world shook with every strike.

He ended the combo by spinning, fists still flying, creating a cyclone of destruction.

When the dust cleared—nothing moved.

Chunks of monster flesh rained around him like confetti.

[Sandworm Kill Count: 32/50]

[System Comment: What are you, a blender? A haunted blender?]

"Just a man doing his job."

[You're a menace with muscle memory. Garp would cry if he saw this. Then probably laugh.]

More enemies charged.

Jinwoo adjusted his stance. He didn't even need Observation Haki anymore. He knew where they'd be.

He jumped.

[Skill: Moonwalk]x[Skill: Soru]x[Skill: Tempest Kick]x[Skill: Iron Fist]x[Skill: Brawler's Fist]

He weaved it all together like choreography from a war god.

At one point, he danced on the corpses of worms like stepping stones. At another, he pinballed between targets mid-air, laughing under his breath.

The System just gave up commenting.

[Sandworm Kill Count: 41/50]

Jinwoo skidded to a stop, panting just slightly.

"I thought they'd get harder."

[Don't jinx it. There's still a—]

A low tremor shook the dunes.

The ground bulged like something massive was stirring.

The wind stopped.

Silence, then—

BOOM.

The desert exploded.

The final wave had arrived.

Nine worms, moving as one. Desperate. Vengeful. Doomed.

Jinwoo sighed. "Last call."

He dropped into a fighting stance.

[Skill: Observation Haki]

[Skill: Soru]x[Skill: Brawler's Fist]

He moved through them like a storm wearing a man's shape.

Every punch blew through flesh. Every kick curved with lethal precision.

Blood sprayed in artistic arcs.

They died as one, crushed by a fury they never understood.

When the last collapsed, Jinwoo stood alone again.

Dust settled. Silence returned.

---

The sandstorm calmed. Silence lingered.

Dozens of sandworm corpses lay scattered like broken siege weapons—some twitching, some steaming, all very, very dead.

Jinwoo stood in the center of it all, the wind brushing through his hair, arms crossed, breathing barely elevated.

[System Notification]

[Sandworm Kill Count: 50/50 – Objective Complete]

[Reward: Gacha Ticket ×1, Gold Coins +400]

[System Note: You... wiped out an entire ecosystem. Congrats, Apex Predator.]

A low rumble split the desert apart.

The ground didn't just tremble—it sank.

Then rose.

Jinwoo looked up, squinting.

A monstrous figure burst forth—a colossal serpent of muscle and jagged scale, its armored hide gleaming like obsidian, a crown of spines haloing its gaping maw. It reared back and screamed, a high-pitched shriek that cracked the air like a banshee.

[System Notification]

[New Threat Detected: Sandworm Swarm Leader (B-Rank Boss)]

[Special Reward Quest Activated: Kill the Swarm Leader]

[Reward: Gacha Ticket ×1, Shop Access Unlocked (10 Minutes)]

[System Note: Be advised, this thing is territorial, and completely insane.]

Jinwoo casually kicked a worm carcass aside.

"So, the boss finally decided to show. Took its sweet time."

The Swarm Leader coiled like a tidal wave of meat, looming tall enough to cast a shadow across a full square block. Its dozen eyes locked onto Jinwoo.

It screamed again.

Jinwoo yawned.

"Cool entrance. Real spooky. Can you die already?"

[System Note: You are incapable of respecting dramatic tension.]

He bent his knees.

[Skill: Moonwalk]

The air cracked as Jinwoo launched upward, landing effortlessly on the Swarm Leader's armored brow. The beast thrashed, trying to dislodge him.

He didn't even wobble.

"See, I could fight you seriously," he said, looking around. "But you're big. Slow. And honestly?"

He tapped the beast's head like knocking on a door.

"You made yourself an easier target."

The Swarm Leader shrieked again and tried to slam its own face into the dunes.

Jinwoo leapt, rebounded off its crown, flipped upside-down, and smacked the tip of its nose with his heel.

[Skill: Tempest Kick]

A pressure slash exploded in a fan-like burst. The monster jerked back, snarling, blood spraying from one nostril.

Jinwoo landed back on its face, crouched like a bored cat.

[Skill Level Up: Brawler's Fist Lv 1 –> Lv. 2]

A furious flurry of haki-coated strikes. Each punch deals 15x physical damage. Rapid-fire assault.More brutal.

Jinwoo's lips curved into a grin.

"Oho."

[System Note: Oh no.]

"Now this—this is what I was waiting for."

[System Note: I regret everything.]

The Swarm Leader lunged, mouth wide, ready to devour him.

"Too late, big guy."

He dropped.

Right between its eyes.

His fists blurred.

[Skill: Brawler's Fist]

What followed wasn't a beatdown.

It was a drum solo.

His arms vanished into a storm of haki-infused strikes, hammering the beast's skull like a jackhammer possessed. Each punch detonated on impact—fracturing armor, pulverizing bone, reducing whatever brain mass it had into soup.

CRACK–CRACK–CRACK–CRACK–CRACK–CRACK–

The Swarm Leader reared back, shrieking in agony. Jinwoo's final punch cratered its head like a sledgehammer through concrete.

The beast staggered.

Wobbled.

And fell—face-first—into the sand with the weight of a collapsing building.

BOOOOOOOM.

Dust exploded outward in a rising mushroom cloud. Jinwoo rode the beast's corpse down like a surfboard, hands in his pockets.

He hopped off the body mid-skid and landed gently in the sand, brushing his shoulder off.

[System Notification]

[System Note: …You just curb-stomped a B-Rank boss without breaking a sweat.]

"I'd apologize," Jinwoo said, stretching his arms, "but I'm really not sorry."

[System Note: I'm going to have to file a trauma report for the worms.]

He smirked, tilting his head.

"Oh, by the way. That Brawler's Fist?"

He held up his bruised but steaming hands.

"That's going to be real fun in a crowd."

[System Note: Your idea of fun is a war crime.]

He turned toward the horizon, the rising sun casting long shadows behind him. The desert, once a living hell, was now a graveyard of monsters.

And Jinwoo?

He was just getting started.

[System Notification: Would you like to open the Gacha Shop now?]

[Time Remaining: 09:52]

Jinwoo grinned.

"Yeah. Let's roll the dice."
