Wen Yang sat at his desk, clicking the mouse aimlessly, his eyes occasionally glancing at Ning Chu, who was not far away.
Ning Chu seemed really angry...
To be fair, wouldn't anyone show off a bit when they had a group of pretty girls cheering for them?
He defended himself in his heart but felt too guilty to look Ning Chu in the eyes.
Even though Ning Chu wasn't his girlfriend, he still inexplicably felt guilty towards her.
He sneaked another glance at Ning Chu and noticed that ever since they got back to the dorm, she had been glued to her phone.
He couldn't tell if she was reading a novel or something else, but judging by her serious expression, she was probably disappointed in his behavior today.
"Wen Yang," Ning Chu suddenly raised her head.
Wen Yang quickly turned away, avoiding her gaze.
Ning Chu frowned slightly and asked, "Do you know a girl from Class Two named Wenwen?"
"Wenwen? I don't know her."
"Okay..." Ning Chu nodded lightly, pursing her lips, feeling that things were a bit tricky.
Unlike the brief encounters with most of the other female supporting characters, Wenwen was someone the main character actively pursued in the novel, and their interactions lasted quite a while.
It was even explicitly written in the novel that while dating Wenwen, the male lead stopped actively flirting with other women, which showed how much he liked her...
Although he never rejected advances from others, he wouldn't seek them out while with Wenwen.
That's why Wenwen became the female lead for several short arcs in the novel.
This cute, innocent-looking girl was quite playful beneath the surface.
Was that the type of girl I liked back then?
Ning Chu rubbed her temples, sighing once again.
Why had she wasted time writing such a messy novel back then?
"Turns out he's a real jerk," she muttered to herself.
Wen Yang's ears perked up, and he straightened his back unconsciously. No way... Was showing off while playing basketball for other girls really enough to call him a jerk?
"Who's a jerk?" Zhang Shaoqing asked, a lollipop in his mouth as he turned his head. "Who is it?"
"None of your business."
"Did a jerk dump you or something?" he teased Ning Chu as always.
Ning Chu couldn't even be bothered to respond to him.
She let out a soft sigh, rubbing her stomach, and realized that the pain had somehow disappeared.
She froze for a moment, then excitedly prepared to leave. "Wen Yang! Let's go!"
"Huh? Where to?"
"To the cafeteria! We haven't eaten yet."
"Oh..."
Wen Yang was baffled again by Ning Chu's sudden change in mood.
He really couldn't understand why girls' emotions shifted so quickly.
"Bring back a bottle of green tea!" Wang Jie shouted as they left.
After they went downstairs, Ning Chu didn't head towards the cafeteria. Instead, she made a turn toward the public restroom nearby.
Wen Yang finally realized what she was planning to do. "Are you changing your sanitary pad?"
"Yeah..."
Does she really need to drag me along for this?
He felt that Ning Chu's vigilance was a bit too intense.
She had been like this from the start, sometimes even treating him with a guarded expression.
She had been startled earlier, saying something about a stalker, but it seemed like she was just overthinking.
After all, they lived in a society governed by law, and the security was pretty good.
When they reached the public restroom, Ning Chu hesitated for a moment before heading into the men's restroom.
The place was empty.
She looked back at the deserted space behind her and suddenly felt a pang of unease.
She quickly poked her head out from the entrance and called to Wen Yang, who was standing at the sink, looking in the mirror. "Come inside."
"???"
Wen Yang was utterly confused.
Why did it feel like since Ning Chu got scared earlier today, she had become even more clingy?
Did she really need him to stand guard outside the stall while she changed her pad?
Once Wen Yang entered the restroom, Ning Chu finally relaxed and slipped into one of the stalls.
A public restroom was a high-risk location after all!
Of course she had to be cautious.
Even though someone might find the bloody pad and know that some shameless girl had changed her pad in the men's restroom, no one would know it was her.
After swapping out the pad and confirming there was no more bleeding, Ning Chu let out a long sigh of relief. "Finally done."
She felt much lighter all over and, at last, could take a proper shower tonight.
She had only turned into a girl last night, and the constant bleeding debuff had killed any desire to bathe, leaving her feeling uncomfortable all day.
The dorm bathroom door had been repaired earlier that day by the dorm manager.
Despite being a minor character in the plot, that uncle had left a good impression on Ning Chu.
At least he was prompt in his repairs.
After a quick trip to the bathroom, Ning Chu stretched as she exited the stall.
Her whole body felt refreshed~
She cheerfully called out to Wen Yang, "Let's go! Time to eat!"
"Why are you suddenly in such a good mood?"
"My stomach doesn't hurt anymore! I'm getting an extra meal today! I'm ordering two extra portions of meat!"
After all the blood she lost today, she definitely needed to replenish herself.
And some ice-cold cola! Ice cream! Watermelon!
The past few days had been swelteringly hot, and without any of these cooling treats, she'd been forced to drink warm water every day.
Ning Chu had been feeling like she was constantly on the verge of heatstroke, with no energy even to eat properly.
But then Ning Chu's smile faltered.
She looked curiously at Wen Yang, noticing his flushed, awkward expression, and asked, "Why is your face red?"
"Uh..." Wen Yang stammered.
Her gaze quickly dropped downward, landing on Wen Yang's... sensitive area.
Despite his loose shorts, she noticed the change.
The amused look in her eyes quickly turned into one of displeasure.
Wen Yang mumbled in embarrassment, "I... I can't control it..."
Well, she supposed that was true.
Young guys were sensitive, and even a little friction from the fabric of their shorts could cause a reaction, like being primed and ready to go.
Ning Chu remembered when she had been a man—she'd had the same issue.
She could understand, but did Wen Yang have to stand there... facing her while it happened? How annoying!
Ning Chu pursed her lips, thought for a moment, and decided not to make a big deal out of it.
She led the way out of the restroom. "To the cafeteria."
"Alright." Wen Yang followed her, "I'm gonna wash my face."
He splashed cold water on his face a few times, forcing his brain to stop wandering into weird thoughts.
While he's bending over the sink, Wen Yang shook his head heavily.
He really needed to handle this situation on his own.
If he kept having these little accidents, it might ruin the way Ning Chu saw him.
He definitely didn't want her to think of him as some hormonal playboy.
Plus, it was too obvious.
Every time something like this happened in public, it made him want to run away in embarrassment, especially when some bold girls would stare directly at him.
"Are you done yet?" Ning Chu called from behind him, urging him on.
"Yeah." Wen Yang stood up, wiped the water off his face, and slicked back his damp bangs, revealing his forehead.
Ning Chu glanced at him, grumbling, "Still trying to act cool?"
But honestly, Wen Yang did look a bit more handsome with his forehead showing like that~
