Chapter 311 - Duel of Idiots 2

Leaning forward, Zane spoke in a voice low enough for only their table to hear:

"You know, Luna, if you were my shadow, I wouldn't mind losing mine."

Luna's hand slipped, nearly spilling her cup. Her cheeks went red, and she tried to hide behind her hair.

Mira snorted, Celeste gasped, and Asher nearly flipped the table.

"WHAT?! No—no no no, you can't—! That doesn't even—!" He jabbed a finger at Zane. "You're doing it wrong!"

"Oh?" Zane tilted his head lazily. "Funny, she's blushing. Looks like I'm doing it right."

Luna let out a squeak and hid her face in her arms.

Asher slammed his palm on the table, leaning dramatically toward her.

"Luna," he declared, voice dripping with false intensity, "if I had a hundred lives, I'd spend ninety-nine finding you, and the last one loving you."

The table went silent. Mira blinked. Celeste's jaw dropped. Even Zane raised an eyebrow.

Then Zane smirked. "Cute. But desperate." He leaned toward Luna again, voice smooth like silk.

"Don't listen to him. If you were mine, I'd never make you wait. I'd already be here."

Luna's face was glowing red.

Asher clutched his chest dramatically. "That's it. You leave me no choice." He snapped his fingers, opening a small portal above the table. From it, a shower of rose petals rained down, fluttering across Luna's shoulders.

Everyone stared.

"Luna," Asher said, kneeling beside her chair, "forget shadows and words. Let me show you the universe in color."

Celeste whispered, "...He's insane."

Mira whispered louder, "...She's buying it."

Zane stared for a long moment… then smirked and leaned back casually.

"Wow, Asher. You really went all out." He tapped his blindfold into place. "Shame she's still thinking about my line."

Luna squealed into her arms. Her whole body shook like a kettle about to blow.

The duel had no winner. Only a table of chaos, a red-faced Luna, and two idiots glaring at each other like it was war.
