Chapter 4 - new empire

After Kael killed all the wolves, he looked around and noticed that there were no more monsters. He quickly put his gun back into its holder and began walking towards the palace.

When Kael arrived at the palace, he noticed the ruined surroundings and saw that the bodies of the people who had died in the kingdom were nowhere to be found.

After hours of exploring the ruined palace, Kael found some gold scattered around and also discovered a spell magic that had been hidden by the kingdom.

He learned about this because of the information Lyra had given him earlier, and after finishing his exploration of the palace, he left. Since he couldn't find any bodies, not even Lyra's, he wasn't sure if she was dead or alive. However, he noticed that the bracelet Lyra had left for him was still glowing. According to Lyra, if she were to die, the light in the bracelet would disappear, but since it was still glowing, it meant that Lyra was still alive.

Because of this, Kael immediately left the kingdom. Since opening a portal using shadow magic required a lot of mana, he chose to walk instead.

After several days of walking, Kael ended up in a vast forest. He had arrived in the forest because he was following the direction given by the bracelet, which provided communication and direction to where the person who created it was.

Unable to contact Lyra directly through communication, Kael relied on the direction provided by the bracelet.

Several days of travel later, Kael stumbled upon a new kingdom. He approached the entrance gate and followed the line of people. Kael noticed that there was an entrance fee of 5 silver to enter, but since he had a lot of gold from the Velmar kingdom, it wasn't a problem for him.

When it was Kael's turn to pay, he immediately paid the fee and entered the kingdom without any issues.

Once inside, Kael observed that this new kingdom seemed very similar to the Velmar kingdom, but he soon learned that the new kingdom was much stricter. The kingdom was called the "Kingdom of Livareth."

Because of its strict rules, a person in the kingdom suggested that Kael apply for citizenship. However, Kael didn't do this because obtaining citizenship required having a magic seal stamped on the body and swearing an oath of loyalty and allegiance to the kingdom.

As Kael continued to explore the kingdom, he heard a shout.

"EVERYONE MOVE ASIDE! THE BRAVE WARRIORS OF THE KINGDOM HAVE RETURNED VICTORIOUS FROM THE WAR AGAINST THE DEMONS!"

When the people heard this, they all moved aside to make way. Kael followed along, and after a few minutes, a large group of soldiers riding sturdy and powerful horses entered the kingdom. Kael also noticed numerous magicians and artillery, and the soldiers wore armor that was resistant to magic and carried huge shields. Leading the group was a beautiful woman riding a horse with wings, but Kael realized that the creature was not a horse, but a Griffin.

Kael was astonished because he remembered that Tandang Lucien had told him that Griffins came from the Aetherion Mountain, which had a height of 87 kilometers, and even giants had failed to climb it.

Kael was so surprised that, out of curiosity, he disappeared into a puff of black smoke and began following the soldiers, especially the woman riding the Griffin. However, he stopped when he noticed a barrier around the area designated for the nobility, so he halted and did not proceed with his plan.

After the events, Kael returned to his human form and overheard a conversation among the people. The woman riding the Griffin was Seraphina Valerynth, a queen in the Kingdom of Livareth. Despite her young age, Seraphina had already won many wars and was loved by both mana and nature. It was also foretold in fate that Seraphina would be one of the six legendary figures in the world of Artia.

Hearing this, Kael became even more determined to meet Seraphina.

While Kael continued to ponder this, he suddenly felt hungry, so he searched for food. After a few minutes of walking, he found a place to eat.

While eating, Kael learned that the Kingdom of Livareth had something called a guild.

The guild was a group of mercenaries who worked to kill monsters in exchange for money. When Kael heard this, he immediately decided to go to the guild.

After a few more minutes, Kael finished his meal, paid for it, and left.

A few minutes of walking later, Kael found the guild. Upon entering, he noticed the warriors with various weapons.

"Welcome to the Livareth Guild," a woman greeted him.

"Are you a newcomer?" asked the woman, who seemed to be an employee at the guild.

"Yes, I'm new, and I want to join the guild," Kael replied.

The woman then gave him a contract to become a member of the guild, and Kael noticed that the rules were not very strict. He signed the contract.

Since Kael was still a newbie, he was given simple tasks, such as gathering herbs. However, he found this work very boring.

Several days passed, and Kael finally ranked up to the mercenary level. The guild had a ranking system.

Guildmaster – The highest position, overseeing the entire guild.

Warlord – Leader of major operations and missions, leader of elite mercenaries.

Commander – Leads groups of mercenaries in large battles or missions.

Veteran Mercenary – An experienced mercenary with high credibility.

Elite Mercenary – Specialists in specific disciplines, such as assassination or reconnaissance.

Mercenary Captain – Leads a group of mercenaries and is responsible for mission planning.

Senior Mercenary – Experts with deep knowledge in combat and strategy.

Mercenary – The main members of the guild, skilled in various aspects of combat.

Apprentice Mercenary – A beginner, still learning skills.

Novice – The lowest rank, still training and not yet a full member of the guild.

Now that Kael had reached the mercenary level, he could take on missions.

On his first day on a mission, they were all grouped together, and their leader was Varek, a Mercenary Captain. Kael observed Varek's abilities and realized that he was stronger than Varek, their leader in the group.
