Qiao Zhi opened the car door, standing tall yet gentle. She raised her hand and placed it against the passenger door frame so Gu Yangjin wouldn't bump her head. It was such a small gesture, yet it carried a kind of intimacy that made Gu Yangjin's heart stumble. She blushed furiously at the thought, ducking her head as she slipped into the seat. Her hair brushed across Qiao Zhi's wrist like silk before she pulled away.
Qiao Zhi closed the door carefully, almost too carefully, then circled around to the driver's side and slid in.
She fastened her seatbelt, but when her eyes flicked sideways, her breath almost caught.
Gu Yangjin wasn't looking out the window like a normal passenger. Instead, she was staring straight at her. Wide, luminous eyes filled with something raw and unspoken, her lips parted slightly as if she'd forgotten how to breathe.
