Selina could hear Clarissa's voice getting nearer. Her heart drummed loudly with fear and urgency. Without further hesitation and acting on instinct, Selina lunged her head forward.
"Get off me," she growled under her breath as her strong forehead smacked into Zane's nose.
"Damn it!" he groaned, releasing her.
Selina hurriedly climbed off the couch and stood aside, adjusting her clothes as Clarissa fastened her steps inside.
Clarissa rushed to his side. "What happened to Zane?" she asked, not noticing Selina's presence at first.
"He smacked his face on the floor," Selina blurted out, her voice quivering.
Clarissa scanned around but didn't find anything believable about such an incident.
"How come it happened?"
"The thing is, he was about to leave for work and slipped on the soapy water instead."
Clarissa looked up at Selina. "Please, be careful with the mopping."
