Chapter 11 – The Twin Comet: Zeya's Awakening

Elsewhere in Blue Lock — Building 5, Region C

A high-stakes match between Team W and Team X was underway.

Contrary to public belief, Blue Lock had no Buildings 1 through 4. Every player—no matter their skill—was placed in a "Building 5." It was a psychological trap, a masterstroke by Ego Jinpachi.

Make everyone feel like they're at the bottom.

Make them hunger for the top.

That hunger would drive them to devour each other.

Opening Goal: Team W

BOOM!

Team W scored first.

1–0.

Their players burst into cheers.

"Ha! So much for Hanegami Zeya being some super genius."

"Without Yūshin Seiichi, he's just an average striker."

"Jingshi's the real deal! Ze's just his shadow."

From the bench, Zeya's name rang with doubt.

Inside Team X

The mood was quiet.

"Sorry… I lost my mark," a flat-headed defender mumbled.

"It's alright. It's just one goal," said Hiori Yo, brushing back his light blue bangs.

"As long as we have Zeya… we'll be fine."

Hiori's soft-spoken tone held unwavering confidence.

Anyone looking at Hiori for the first time might mistake him for Zeya's sibling. Matching hair, similar posture—even their eyes shared that sharp, glacier-blue hue.

But while Hiori passed like an artist, Zeya hunted like a wolf.

"Zeya, take over," Hiori said.

Zeya didn't respond. He simply twisted his ankle in place.

"Kick it to me at kickoff," he said flatly.

The Equalizer

Kickoff.

The ball rolled to Zeya.

With cold, effortless strides, he crossed midfield.

"Cut him off early! Pressure him!"

But before defenders could close in, Zeya raised his right leg—

BOOM!

He launched the ball like a missile.

It soared high, climbing, curving… falling.

A falling leaf shot!

The Team W goalkeeper leapt too late.

Goal.

1–1.

"He scored from THAT far?!"

"What kind of power…?"

Mouths dropped open.

Zeya's Second Strike

Team W tried to answer quickly. They passed sharply into Team X's half.

"Send it through! Asuka, now!"

But just as the ball left Asuka's foot—

THWACK!

Zeya intercepted.

How did he get there?!

In a flash of blue, he exploded down the sideline.

"I've got him!" Asuka dropped back.

But as Zeya neared, he barely acknowledged the defender.

"You're not even worth the dust I kick up," he muttered.

WHOOSH. Zeya ghosted past him.

Asuka was left behind like a parked car.

Zeya weaved past two more defenders—

BOOM!

Goal.

2–1.

Team W Falters

"Don't let him get the ball again!"

"Stick to him! Double team!"

Two defenders clung to Zeya after kickoff.

It didn't matter.

Hiori Yo made a pinpoint interception at midfield and looked up.

Zeya was already gone.

A streak of blue split through the backline.

"Ball!"

Hiori didn't hesitate.

A long lob.

Zeya leapt—perfect trap with his right foot.

Glue. He stopped it like glue.

As Team W defenders caught up, Zeya leaned back—

BICYCLE KICK!

BOOM!

3–1.

Even the crowd watching from the upper levels was stunned into silence.

What is he?!

The Perfect Egoist

In the Blue Lock control room, Ego Jinpachi watched the screen with wild eyes.

"There he is… the perfect striker."

Speed. Strength. Agility. Technique. Vision. Killer instinct.

Zeya had it all.

He's a true egoist. A monster built to lead a team of devourers.

Final Score: 8–1

By the end of the match, Zeya had scored five goals and assisted three. Hiori was behind all three assists.

Their partnership dismantled Team W like clockwork.

Final Score: Team X 8 – 1 Team W

Post-Game

Zeya and Hiori high-fived near the tunnel.

"You're better than I expected," Zeya said, rare praise in his voice.

"Hehe, please keep guiding me, Zeya-san," Hiori replied with a grin.

"You're not bad," Zeya added, glancing sideways.

Then—

"By the way… whose passes do you think are better? Mine, or Yūshin Seiichi's?"

Zeya stopped walking.

After a pause, he said:

"You both pass well. But Jingshi's strength isn't his passing."

"Oh? Then what is it?" Hiori asked.

Zeya turned slightly, blue eyes narrowing.

"You'll see."

"…Come on! Tell me!"

"You'll find out soon."
