[Do you wish to challenge the 1st Floor of the Main Dungeon?]
[Yes (selected)/ No]
[Which party will you deploy?]
['Party 1' -(selected)-]
[Opening the rift of space and time!]
I wanted to test out my heroes now that they had new skills and equipment.
It was important to gauge just how much of a different those two aspects could bring in battle.
['Jonah (★)' has equipped the 'Sharp Long Spear (C)'.]
['Shanny (★)' has equipped the 'Strengthened Long Sword (C)'.]
['Shanny (★)' has equipped the 'Reinforced Wooden Shield (C)'.]
['Trudy (★)' has equipped the 'Strengthened Long Sword (C)'.]
['Trudy (★)' has equipped the 'Reinforced Wooden Shield (C)'.]
I really appreciated the automatic gearing system.
But perhaps I should manually designate the better weapons for my main units once I had more equipment and heroes in the lobby.
[Main Dungeon, the current challenge floor is the 1st Floor.]
[The doors will open after ten seconds. Get ready!]
No need to rush to the second floor.
Let's grasp how the game works in the meantime.
[Floor 1]
[Mission Type – Subjugation]
[Objective – Annihilate the enemies!]
The mission window had emerged but there was no fear notification.
A good mental progress from the 1-star heroes.
It was quite upsetting when your heroes were debuffed every time they went to battle.
I supposed the first condition that would filter the 1-star heroes between promising and trash would be their mental resilience.
No need to invest a lot of attention toward heroes that got scared all the time.
Thwack!
A goblin just died by a rock launched by the 4-star mage.
Jonah rushed in to one goblin and killed the monster in one critical hit.
He was improving.
It usually took him three to five strikes before he could kill an enemy.
The third goblin attempted to attack the 1-star Shanny but she blocked the attack with her shield.
After the successful block, she thrusted her sword and killed the monster instantly.
She improved as well.
Having a skill, even if it was just level one, definitely made a lot of difference to a hero's performance.
And I could see how much of a difference by not having one could make.
The 1-star Trudy took quite a while to kill her monster.
She managed to block the last goblin's attack with her shield, but she could not kill the creature.
Her assaults would occasionally miss or it would not inflict much damage.
I saw a discussion in the official forum once, talking about the importance of defensive and offensive skills.
Some players said defensive skills were important for survival in Pick Me Up. But many players stated that offensive skills were what you need to win stages.
I should probably focus on building DPS heroes for the fifth floor.
We already had Serafina for the support roles, so we were covered on that front.
Jonah and Shanny seemed to be on track to become solid DPS units.
I was not certain about Trudy. Perhaps I should keep looking for other candidates.
After all, it took her several more minutes to kill that last goblin.
She was clearly not on par with her fellow 1-stars in the party.
I needed someone who could keep up with Jonah's and Shanny's rapid development.
[Stage Clear!]
['Trudy (★)' levelled up!]
[MVP – 'Serafina (★★★★)']
[Reward – 1000G, Iron Ore (C) x1, Leather (C) x1]
Hmm…
So there was a chance that we could still obtain more materials in the retry battles.
The Weekday Dungeons where we could obtain resources were not available yet below the fifth floor.
It was nice to know that my crafting materials could still be replenished by retrying the tower stages.
Anyway, Jonah was getting closer to level 3 and his combat skill was already level 2.
I wanted Shanny to keep up with him.
The guides said that heroes tend to improve in situations that would push their limit.
I should probably do that for my prospective heroes then.
[Would you like to remove 'Serafina (★★★★)' and 'Jonah (★)' from 'Party 1'?]
[Yes (selected)/ No]
Shanny and Trudy seemed to have improved enough to protect themselves.
Given their new skills, I wanted to see them fighting on their own. Especially Shanny.
I could probably develop her combat skill a level higher with this increased difficulty.
[Do you wish to challenge the 1st Floor of the Main Dungeon?]
[Yes (selected)/ No]
[Which party will you deploy?]
['Party 1' -(selected)-]
[Opening the rift of space and time!]
The screen faded back to the grass plain filled with four goblins.
[Floor 1]
[Mission Type – Subjugation]
[Objective – Annihilate the enemies!]
Only Shanny and the other 1-star got deployed this time.
How would they perform on their own?
['Trudy (★)' has fallen into the state of fear. All stats decreased by 30%!]
['Shanny (★)' has fallen into the state of fear. All stats decreased by 30%!]
I supposed it was to be expected that they would be afraid now the 4-star mage and the experienced 1-star were no longer fighting with them.
And it was good that despite being afraid, these two women still kept their weapons and held their ground.
['Shanny (★)' is no longer in a state of fear.]
Nice. Shanny had also improved her mental resilience.
I knew she would be promising.
The prospective 1-star rushed toward two of the four goblins on the opposing side and engaged them.
Shanny blocked the attacks from another goblin with her shield while dealing damage to the other one with her sword.
She managed to kill them both in a brief time using that tactic.
['Shanny (★)'s Basic Swordsmanship has levelled up to level 2!]
['Shanny (★)'s Basic Shield Technique has levelled up to level 2!]
The guides were right about putting heroes in dangerous situation to improve their skills.
This experiment had been proving very fruitful.
Would it work on my other 1-star?
Despite her comrade's stellar performance, the 1-star Trudy seemed to be pressured by her enemies.
The two goblins kept attacking her relentlessly that she kept being on the defensive side.
Trudy tried attacking back on rare occasions, but she would only miss her enemies instead.
['Trudy (★)' has been inflicted with bleeding. Her stamina will be reduced for a period of time.]
One of the goblins wounded Trudy. She immediately dropped to her knees.
Shanny quickly rushed in and decapitated one of the monsters.
The talented 1-star proceeded to kick the final goblin away before it could strike the immobilized Trudy.
She continued to kill the last enemy as it was getting back up.
[Stage Clear!]
[MVP – 'Shanny (★)']
[Reward – 1000G, Copper (C) x1]
It was a productive outing.
Shanny proved her potential by levelling up her skills.
She almost caught up to Jonah now.
It was unfortunate that Trudy could not follow her example.
But that was just how it was, I supposed.
Her growth potential was not programmed the same as the other talented 1-stars.
I simply needed to continue my search.
[Master, starting 10-consecutive Regular Summoning!]
[I'm excited to see what heroes will appear!]
[DRRRRRR…]
[Boom!]
[Common!]
[Master 'S1GYN' has obtained hero 'Fritz (★)'!]
[Common!]
[Master 'S1GYN' has obtained hero 'Pablo (★)'!]
[Common!]
[Master 'S1GYN' has obtained hero 'Gerson (★)'!]
[Common!]
[Master 'S1GYN' has obtained hero 'Opal (★)'!]
[Common!]
[Master 'S1GYN' has….!]
Another all 1-star pull.
But I should not feel too disappointed.
Jonah and Shanny were also 1-star heroes and they turned out to be quite talented.
[Ding!]
A sudden notification.
I wondered what this was about.
[There is a strong connection between the two individuals.]
[Linked Heroes - 'Giacomo (★)', 'Linnie (★)']
[A bond called the 'Sweet and Sour Bakers' has been formed!]
[Tips/When performing consecutive summoning, there's a very low chance to summon heroes that have affinity with each other. They're more powerful in a party together or perform better when working in a facility together.]
Interesting.
I knew there would be heroes that already had bonds upon summoning.
But I thought it only applied to advanced heroes.
Apparently you could have bonded 1-stars as well.
Even so, I could not count on them to clear the tower stages.
This particular pair only had bonus effect in cooking if they worked in a facility together. So they would naturally be assigned to the Restaurant.
It would be nice to have heroes with bonus combat effect that I could deploy in battle.
But no matter.
There were another eight new heroes that I just summoned.
So let's hope I could find more promising pawns from this new batch.
[Master, do you want to log out?]
[Yes (selected)/ No]
[Then goodbye!]
