Chapter 5 - ARE YOU JOKING WITH ME?

T--That monster was in his bedroom!

His heart began to pound again, and this time he almost felt nauseous. Please don't tell him he's about to be sick.

He slowly turned around, slid down the bed, and stood on his shaky knees. He slowly walked backwards, his back knees hitting the desk behind him.

The woman was staring at him with an intrigued look, and she smiled like she knew exactly what she was doing to him.

She looked around his room, and her nose sniffed in disgust. "Wow, your room stinks of vodka."

Silas wanted to ask how she found him. How did she get here?

The woman lifted her eyebrows arrogantly, and she said, "You must be wondering how I know where you live."

She wasn't phrasing it as a question, more like a statement.

He panicked and wondered if she could read his mind. What? Can vampires read people's minds?

His heart started to go crazy from jumping, and he looked at the door, wondering if he would have a chance to escape.

Silas didn't care. He'd probably die, but he would take a chance trying to escape even if it's less than a fifty percent chance. He's not staying like a little lamb waiting for its death.

He ran again toward the doorknob, and his heart jumped in excitement, and he turned the doorknob.

All of a sudden, his back felt a wave of cold air akin to a wind, and the door made a thud sound. In the blink of an eye, he sees a small, tiny white hand on the door in front of his eyes.

He realized with horror. The woman was just right behind him. Just behind him.

He closed his eyes, desperately whispering over and over in his mind.

I DON'T WANT TO DIE.

I DON'T WANT TO DIE.

PLEASE. SOMEONE HELP ME.

Before he could go on a spiral mode, he heard the most beautiful voice behind him, within his ears, soft and sweet like she wasn't a killer.

But he knew that she wasn't a human, and his heart raced so fast--

"Your heart is really racing."

The woman said in a carefree voice, and Silas felt a soft wind in his hair, and a shudder went down his spine. Similar to an electricity that ran through him. Sharp and electrifying.

Silas wanted to turn around, but he was too scared. Completely terrified. Heck, even his hands couldn't remain still, and his hands kept trembling on the doorknob.

Then the woman slowly walked back, away from him, and Silas released a deep sigh of relief. A real relief, and he thought just maybe he won't die.

Maybe not today.

Silas turned around, and he saw the woman was wearing the same red dress. It fit her really well. Made her look seductive and bewitching.

Like one of the women from a beauty contest, and she would have won the competition.

Before he could notice her dark green eyes and black silky hair, the woman smiled at him, but her gaze went cold.

"Stop looking at me like that."

Silas felt a wave of embarrassment. What the hell is he doing admiring her? She's not even human.

She's a fucking monster.

Silas took a deep breath and told himself to focus. Heck, he has to slap his cheeks.

So be it.

He said in a low stutter, "W--What do you want?"

She smiled, but she remained silent, ignoring him. She walked around the room with interest. She behaved like royalty, someone of high status.

Each move of hers was graceful and lazy.

She asked, "What's your name?"

He swallowed hard. She already knows where she lives. It couldn't kill her to hear his name.

He said as he stared at her, watching her with wary eyes.

"Silas."

She turned to him and raised her brows. But a fleeting look in her flash flashed. Like lightning.

There was something eerily cold in her pupils, like a snake.

He felt a prey waiting for the deadly queen not to pass a death sentence over him.

He swallowed real hard, and his throat felt like it was stuck in a knot.

Her eyes observed him closely, like he was an interesting animal at a zoo, and he felt a trail of goosebumps forming on his arms.

Almost ticklish that he wanted to smack the area.

She walked to his bed lazily and took a seat on the edge. She wasn't acting like a stranger in someone's home, more like someone who belongs here.

She looked graceful, and she asked him with a seductive smile, "You call me Keira."

Silas doesn't care. He doesn't want to know her name. He just wants to ask her to let him go and let him live. Stop trying to talk to him like he's some kind of friend.

But he kept his lips shut, or he might lose his life just because he pissed her off.

He asks with a fake smile, despite his heart racing with dread. "Are you going to kill me?"

She turned to him, tilting her head; her eyes looked curious, like she was contemplating her choices. She shrugged her shoulder, "I was at first, but you caught my attention. You're the first to get away from me."

Silas was confused.

She must have seen the confusion on his face, and she explained, "No one escapes me."

Then her eyes turned bitter, like she'd swallowed a hard pill, "Except for one."

Her hands rose in the air, pointing at him, and she asked in a low voice, "How did you escape my compulsion?"

His brow rose in confusion, and he almost had to lean against the wall behind him to hold his weight; otherwise, he might fall or faint.

He can't pass out with a fucking vampire in the room.

He asked, "What is compulsion?"

Her eyes narrowed into slits, and she smiled gently, but it looked fake as hell. He could sense a calm before a storm.

She asked him, "Are you joking with me?"

Her eyes turned dark red like the color of rich wine, and her face looked sinister and evil like a demon, but a seductive one.

Bewitching and deadly.
