Chapter 5 - The most popular student in the Lingyun Sect

There are many popular students in the Lingyun Sect. Some students are known for their talents in drawing talismans, and some are admired for their exorcism skills. Every year or two, there would be a student extraordinarily gifted in the art of feng shui or even fortune-telling, but in the last twenty years, there had not been a student as popular as Gu Yuze.

Not just because he is a symbol of bad luck nor because he was so talentless that many Celestial Masters would love to study the root of his incompetence, but because he was so cowardly that he became a measure to hold new students to.

The most well-known insult when training newcomers was, 'You look like you will grow up to be a Gu Yuze.'

But in the eyes of everyone who had grown in the sect with tales of the cowardly Gu Yuze; Gu Yuze stood up. His clothes were stained with food; his face was decorated with small pieces of ginger.

He smiled- then pounced on Cao Ru.

Pa! Pa! The resounding slaps made those around suddenly shudder as they looked at the scene before them like a ghost king had suddenly risen and was sitting in front of them.

Gu Yuze, The Gu Yuze was sitting on top of Cao Ru and landing slaps on top of slaps on her beautiful face.

Buddha said, There is no peace in a restless heart. Anger clouds the mind; where does tranquility arise? Only through patience can the flames of wrath be extinguished: Then you will find serenity and embrace true wisdom.'

Gu Yuze recited the sutra in his mind and raised his hand to give her a final slap when he felt an energy as cold as ice surrounding him, his hand freezing in the air.

"What is going on here?" A warm voice sounded as a young man entered Gu Yuze's view.

The person was dressed in luxurious blue robes with a light blue sash around his waist. The hem and the cuffs of the robes were embroidered with intricate golden patterns. Staring at them for too long would induce a certain irresistible envy for the rich. His blue eyes looked down at Gu Yuze with something akin to amusement.

This was the first Taoist that Gu Yuze had met that did not look at him with disgust, but it was not the man that caught his attention, it was the person behind the man.

The person whose spiritual energy was currently binding his hand. This person's good looks might have even surpassed the looks of his past life. He was wearing a blue robe like the man who was grinning at him, but there was no kind of embellishment on his robes, it was a plain blue robe and yet it felt like the ceremonial robes that his father used to perform the blessing ceremony on the New Year.

There was no wind and yet Gu Yuze could swear that he saw those robes dance lightly like doves wanting to fly. He swallowed involuntarily.

The second man was so handsome that it was hard to look away from him after a single glance. His eyebrows were sharp and his eyes, like glazed sapphire with a silver rim. His entire presence was as cold as a piece of ancient ice on top of a snowing mountain, ever so slightly bringing about a cold and translucent clear disposition to it.

Lofty, like an immortal from beyond Heaven.

Thinking of this body with a face as pale as a ghost, Gu Yuze clicked his tongue.

Just who was he showing off his beauty to.

"Senior Brother." Someone first opened their mouth, their voice filled with surprise.

Then, like a well-trained military unit, everyone stood up straight, cupped their hands, and with raised voices, "Greetings to Senior Brother."

For a group of people who had watched indifferently as he was embarrassed by Cao Ru, they suddenly looked like good students.

Their eyes were gleaming as they all fixed on one body; the young man just nodded slightly in acceptance of their greeting.

"Hey! Release me!" Gu Yuze shouted to break their happy reunion. His hand could not move, and it was starting to weigh on the starved and weak Gu Yuze. He was so angry that he had forgotten all he had said about not bringing more attention to himself.

Gu Yuze's action brought even more murmurs to the group of students. It was one thing for Gu Yuze to pounce on and start beating Cao Ru, speaking rudely to Han Ji was something else entirely.

Even ordinary disciples did not have the guts to offend Han Ji of the Disciplinary Hall, not to mention Gu Yuze.

"Acts of harm towards a fellow disciple is a grave violation of sect principles." He raised his hand, writing a character in the air, and Gu Yuze could feel his body being lifted up against his will. An energy sealing his mouth.

He gritted his teeth and glared at the handsome young man like a little wolf dog. Raising him in the air like a child in front of over a hundred people, when has Gu Yuze suffered such a humiliation in his life?

Cao Ru who was lying on the ground hurriedly stood up, her cheeks swollen and her ears red with embarrassment. She could not face the stares of the two senior brothers and she lowered her head.

"Tsk. Junior Brother Gu, how can you bear to wreck such a pretty face? Tsk. Tsk." Su Hai said.

Cao Ru's condition looked much more miserable. Her face, originally like a beautiful white steamed bun, now looked swollen several times over as if it had fermented, with patches of blue and purple. Su Hai's kind words made the already embarrassed Cao Ru want to bury herself in the ground. It was one thing to be beaten by other students but it was a whole different thing to be slapped by Gu Yuze until her cheeks were swollen.

This was Gu Yuze. The Gu Yuze that had not advanced since he came to the sect. And it was not in some dark corner but in front of the Twin Jades of the Lingyun Sect.

Before she could begin fathom her revenge, she felt herself being lifted into the air. Her eyes widened and met cold purple eyes. Cao Ru felt like a chill run down her spine and she lowered her head.

Gu Yuze struggled against the spiritual power binding him, banging against it over and over—against that golden energy that tightly encased him.

But it was like throwing an egg against a rock. A wasted effort.

Students laughed and whispered as they pointed at the two people being dragged toward the Punishment Hall.

Gu Yuze could hear his name being mentioned, floating about the whispers around them.

Gu Yuze saw red in that instance and stopped struggling immediately.

Su Hai chuckled and left Han Ji's side to come over to Gu Yuze.

"Are you sure you don't want to struggle some more? Perhaps in the next five thousand years, you will finally break free."

Su Hai's hair was tied up high, and his features were clear and delicate. His long eyelashes, like crow feathers, formed a beautiful arc at the corner of his eyes.

"Now you have seen me better, don't tell me you are going to faint from my beauty."

Gu Yuze could not move or speak but at least he could roll his eyes and he did so. Rolling them twice.

Su Hai chuckled and continued to talk next to him. He continued to chatter even without any response until they reached an imposing building with two characters written on the large sign.

Punishment Hall.

"Su Hai." A cold voice rang out and Su Hai laughed, he raised his hand up, "Fine. Fine. I will not disturb you anymore."

Gu Yuze narrowed his eyes as he felt Su Hai slip something into his robe.

His heart pounded. Did they have a relationship? Then his distance just now…

The other winked at him and left. The handsome man raised his hand and Gu Yuze could feel that the energy around him disappear.

Unlike Cao Ru, who had enough spiritual energy to steady herself on the ground, Gu Yuze collapsed to the ground.

And as if heaven were not satisfied with how far he had fallen, a grumble echoed from his stomach, loud and clear.
