The morning sun painted the windows with a soft, golden hue, and for the first time in weeks, I didn't rush to check my phone or sift through emails.
Instead, I sat quietly by the window with a cup of mint tea in my hands, watching the way the light danced over the rooftops of the city.
The storm of revelations, trials, and heartbreaks had begun to settle into something resembling calm. But calm didn't mean we were done. It meant we had space to breathe and think, to plan the next steps deliberately, not out of fear or reaction.
Ethan was still asleep when I left our bedroom that morning. He'd been working nonstop with the legal team and the board, finalizing everything after Carl's legacy disclosures. I knew it had taken a toll on him, and I wanted to give him the peace he deserved.
