As they walked down the stairs, he ran into Laura, who was doing some work behind the scenes.
"Laura, I thought you were in the main room." He greeted her.
She turned and smiled at him. "Louis, I..."
Then she froze. She stared at the woman behind Louis, walking casually as if she owned the place.
That woman was more than peculiar. She hadn't seen her arrive, but she was completely sure she knew her, and it didn't take her long to understand why she had that feeling.
"Rebecca Priestley?!" Her cry would surely have been heard throughout the building, had Louis not been quick to silence her with his hand.
"Shh. It's problematic if they find out she's here," he whispered.
She rolled her eyes at him and stared at him. "How long have you known that woman? She's from one of the Castles!" she reminded him.
Louis smiled. "It's a long story."
That was enough to blow Laura's mind. But then she felt someone staring at her, so she rolled her eyes toward Rebecca.
