Chapter 2 - The Child of Silence

From his earliest years, Jin Sohyeon proved to be a special child, enveloped in silence and mystery. His attentive eyes, of a deep dark brown shade, seemed to hold secrets that even he could not fully understand. The village of Baekyun watched him grow, day after day, not just as a common child but as someone destined for great spiritual achievements.

The village's routine was a constant cycle of training and learning, but Jin naturally stood out due to his excessive tranquility and innate capacity for silence. While the other children played joyfully in the snowy fields or ran through the village alleys, Jin preferred to remain still, seated on stones warmed by the hot springs, slowly absorbing the spiritual secrets that emanated from the very environment around him.

At four years old, his gift was already noticeable. One morning, after realizing his prolonged absence, his mother, Hwa Yun, searched the valley and found him motionless by the hot springs. His face was serene, almost meditative, with his small hands resting gently on his knees. When asked what he was doing, he answered with childlike simplicity:

— I am listening to the waters speak, mother.

The response left Hwa Yun surprised, but she immediately understood that Jin was not merely listening to the water but to the deep vibration of Qi flowing beneath the village's ground. It was at that moment that the news of his rare gift began to spread among the monks and elders of the clan.

Quickly, Jin was surrounded by discreet attention. Monks and spiritual masters began to observe him silently, marveling at his innate spiritual sensitivity. Patriarch Jin Haeryeong felt deep pride mixed with paternal concern, as he knew that the path for someone as gifted as Jin would be intense and, often, lonely.

Despite this, Jin did not feel alone. He clearly perceived the energy of the village inhabitants, feeling their joys and sorrows, their desires and fears. This spiritual empathy provided him with a unique connection to everyone around him, even when he did not fully understand the complex emotions of adults.

Jin's relationship with his parents was profoundly affectionate, yet silent. Their dialogues were often brief but intense in meaning. Jin Haeryeong taught his son about responsibility and balance, while Hwa Yun showed him, with maternal gentleness, the importance of compassion and self-knowledge. Both knew that their son carried a significant spiritual weight, and from a young age, they carefully prepared him to face the challenges that would undoubtedly come.

In the village, the children were taught about the world's energy through ancient stories told by the elders. Jin was especially fascinated by these stories, absorbing every word with silent and curious intensity. Each tale was a window to the understanding of a world he already felt deeply within himself, even though he could not yet explain how.

Jin also demonstrated a precocious ability to interpret natural signs. He observed the clouds, the behavior of animals, and the way leaves moved in the wind, drawing intuitive conclusions about imminent changes in the environment around him. His heightened perception often led the village adults to seek him out when doubts arose about the local spiritual energy.

One day, during a particularly harsh winter, Jin sat alone in the central temple. The younger monks practiced their cultivation forms under the supervision of the masters, and Jin watched with distant interest. At the end of the session, the eldest master, Hyeon-Gi, slowly approached, sitting beside Jin in a comfortable silence before gently asking:

— Do you know why you feel the world so clearly, Jin?

Jin softly shook his head in denial, his eyes attentive as he watched the master.

— It is because you do not try to control the energy. You allow it to flow through you without resistance. Your gift is rare and precious, but you will need to learn to direct it — not to control it, but to harmonize with it even more.

Master Hyeon-Gi's words echoed deeply within Jin. From that day on, he began to better understand the nature of his gift: it was not merely a passive talent but an active responsibility, something he needed to cultivate with care and profound respect.

The following years were marked by subtle and careful training. Jin was taught to breathe deeply, meditate for long periods, and listen attentively to what the world around him was saying. Each small teaching was like a drop that slowly filled an internal lake of spiritual knowledge.

However, despite all the care and preparation, no one in the village could fully anticipate what destiny held for Jin Sohyeon. Not even Jin, with all his spiritual sensitivity and ability to sense the flow of Qi around him, could imagine how much his life was about to change.

The silence of his peaceful childhood was about to be replaced by the powerful and relentless voice of destiny.
