Quinn tilted his head, deep in thought.
"Well…the test is something the church gives you to see if you have a chance to get regalia." He finished with a confused yet slightly surprised expression. He paused for a moment, then shifted his gaze to his food.
"At the moment, I don't have many supplies…" his tone paused, and he looked over to Zac as he was about to finish his meal. When you're done, could you go out and buy some more supplies for me?" Zac froze for a moment. His deepest fear had come out from its tendril shell…going shopping.
Back in the old world, he never really liked being in many crowds; he usually gets stiff, and his mind gets all muddled. especially when everyone is staring at him. he liked fencing as a sport because he liked the idea that with the viseres no one could see his face, but there's another reason he enjoyed the sport…
But it's not important now. Now that he is in this new world, he hasn't fully grasped its system; he hasn't even started to understand the currency system…
Zac turned to Quin and asked d
"D… can't you go and.." his voice trailed off as Quin gave him a look that made him not want to finish his sentence. It was a type of fear that you would only get from your father.
I never do well in cowards…. he sighed to himself.
He nodded to Quin and then put his plate away. Before he went to go shop, he put on a change of clothes; earlier, he was just wearing an old shirt. It didn't smell bad- surprising- but the kid didn't own many clothes to begin with.
He went into the closet and took out a shirt, followed by brown pants, he took out a black vest, and a pair of old leather shoes.
There weren't any other shoes inside, so he assumed this would be the only good shoe
He had already checked the room when he was reinventing the room, but he found no other shoe. he felt confident enough to walk out his room door and face Quin.
"Just head to Finley, just ask for my usual other…" He paused for a moment, and a sudden smile crept up on his face. "Ah, the last time I sent you shopping, you got lost on the way. We spent hours searching for you. " His smile grew more silly.
Zac felt that it was getting awkward, so he left. The moment wasn't supposed to be shared with him but with Vonnegut, not Zac.
and sighed and left the house. I hope I won't have to interact much with them…
He walked on a brick path, there weren't many houses along the way but when he reached a house, it was small and it was built in a German style, three kids played out in the front. they all turned their heads to him.
Their face lit up, and they rushed to Zac
"Vonnegut!"
"he's finally here!"
The kids all ran to him, it surprised him a bit
I thought this kid stayed in his room all the time!
Memories rushed into his head like water in a kettle, These kids are orphans who were adopted by an old couple.
Vonnegut used to come and play with them, but recently, he stopped playing with them.
Did he lose interest?
A tall kid backed away from hugging him. he had short auburn hair with blue eyes, and he wore a basic shirt and pants. The name of the kid popped into Zac's head.
"Nick, how have you been?" Zac asked, a warm smile breaking across his face.
Nick's eyes brightened and he started to talk. most of what he said sounded like it came from a different language. he had a strange accent that he could not quite understand he could only hear bits and pieces.
The other kids joined in, and it soon became a noisy mess
"Bianca, it's my turn to speak," a young girl said. She wore a long blue dress with black patterns. Her hair was black, and her eyes were a light brown.
"But I want to speak with him.." a girl said, she looked away from Zac's face, yet she still clung to him. Zac still had a warm smile on his face. After a few moments, he pulled her off.
"Wish I could speak to guys, I truly do, but I have to get going," he said with a calm tone. He gave them a slight smile, and they each exchanged disappointed looks.
"Once I'm done, then we can play."
The kids all suddenly screamed with joy. Zac's expression became blank as his eardrums nearly popped
"Really?" the kids said with bright eyes. Zac looked down at them and nodded.
After he finished that, he waved and walked away.
I think I went deaf for a moment…
After a few moments of observing the townspeople, he searched for the shop. After a few moments, he found the sign Finley.
He walked to the store, suddenly he felt something trying to worm through his head, as if it was searching for something.
Zac panicked and stared, hitting his head as if he was trying to get something out. It created a scene, and most people around had their eyes on him. He turned to the small crowd and saw a girl leaving.
