Chapter 97 - Chapter 96: The Ancient Island Sanctum and the Sea of Forgotten Stars ( Season 1 )

The gentle sea breeze carried the rich aroma of blooming orchid trees and damp sea-cedar wood across the winding stone pathways of the Sun-Spire Sanctum.

Behind them, the three Sea-Vanguard Sovereigns remained pressed flat against the wooden boardwalk of the lagoon, their shattered jade armor rattling as they trembled in pure, unadulterated awe. News of the Primordial Void-Blood Fiend's silent erasure spread like wildfire through the spiritual communication arrays of the Eastern Realm. Yet, within the quiet, bamboo-lined interior of the central island, no one dared to follow the solitary man in the dark traveler's coat.

The paved stone road wound upward toward the Island of Forgotten Stars—a secluded, high-altitude sanctuary sitting atop the central peak of the archipelago.

Here, ancient white-stone arches, covered in pale-green moss and glowing blue runes, framed a quiet courtyard overlooking the endless blue expanse of the ocean. The air was crisp, free of ocean spray, and filled with the tranquil song of silver-winged sea sparrows.

Li-Wen walked with slow, unhurried, rhythmically steady strides up the mountain path.

CRUNCH... CRUNCH... CRUNCH...

His heavy leather boots pressed into the soft moss between the damp granite stones. His dark traveler's coat, stiffened by salt crystals and faint sapphire frost, flapped gently in the mountain draft. Across his broad back, the Pitch-Black Heavy Blade rested in absolute silence inside its iron scabbard, its dark steel unadorned, absorbing the bright sunlight without reflecting a single ray. His short hair, heavily streaked with pure white roots, fluttered softly.

In his left arm, he held little Xiao-Yue securely against his broad chest.

The small girl was wrapped comfortably in her clean, white sheepskin coat. In her small hands, she held her pink lotus lantern along with her half-eaten box of golden-blue Star-Sea Cakes. The silver frame of the lantern, bearing its subtle hairline crack, emitted a gentle, steady ruby light that enveloped them both in a cozy, protective warmth.

"Brother Li-Wen! Look at those pretty trees!" Xiao-Yue squeaked softly, pointing her small index finger toward a grove of ancient Azure-Orchid Trees whose silver leaves shed sparkling, starlike dust into the breeze. "They look like little lights falling from the sky!"

Li-Wen looked toward the silver-leafed grove, his dark, void-like pupils reflecting the soft blue sparkles.

"Those are Azure-Orchids," Li-Wen murmured, his deep, raspy voice flat, calm, and steady. "They bloom once every three hundred years."

"Three hundred years?!" She gasped, her dark eyes wide with childish wonder. "That's longer than a hundred days!"

"Much longer," Li-Wen replied softly, his broad, calloused hand gently adjusting her sheepskin collar to keep the mountain draft from her neck.

"Did they bloom today just for us?" She asked eagerly, taking a tiny, content bite of her star cake.

"They bloomed because it is time," Li-Wen said flatly, though the stern line of his iron-carved jaw relaxed by a fraction.

At the top of the mountain path stood an ancient, open-air pavilion crafted from white jade stone—the Star-Gathering Pavilion.

Inside the pavilion sat an old man with a long white beard, wearing simple grey linen robes. He was not an arrogant sect ancestor, nor did he carry high-grade imperial weapons. He was Scholar Cloud-Sea, the ancient guardian of the sanctum's records and a legendary Stage-6 Peak Grandmaster who had retired from the worldly affairs of the Eastern Realm five hundred years ago.

As Li-Wen stepped into the quiet courtyard, Scholar Cloud-Sea slowly stood up from his stone bench.

He did not call for guards. He did not activate spatial defense arrays.

Scholar Cloud-Sea bowed his head deeply, placing his right palm over his left fist in a traditional gesture of profound, quiet respect.

"Welcome to the Island of Forgotten Stars, Northern Sovereign," Scholar Cloud-Sea said in a calm, gentle voice that carried no fear, only deep reverence. "The ocean winds whispered of your arrival. It is an honor to welcome the master who freed this archipelago from the ancient blood fiend."

Li-Wen stopped ten paces from the white-stone pavilion. His pitch-black abyssal eyes looked at the old scholar with flat, unreadable indifference.

"I did not come to free your archipelago," Li-Wen murmured, his deep voice steady as an iron mountain. "The creature disturbed her cakes."

Scholar Cloud-Sea looked at the little girl resting comfortably in Li-Wen's arm, eating her star cake with a sweet smile, and a soft, understanding chuckle escaped the old scholar's lips.

"A simple reason is often the most profound," Scholar Cloud-Sea replied softly. "Please, rest your feet. The sanctum has fresh mountain-spring water and sweet lotus tea."

Li-Wen walked into the pavilion. He placed the remaining wooden box of warm star cakes on the white-stone table and carefully set Xiao-Yue down onto a soft, silk-lined stone bench.

"Mmm! Thank you, white-beard grandfather!" Xiao-Yue squeaked cheerfully, setting her pink lotus lantern in the center of the stone table. Its warm ruby glow illuminated the white jade walls, creating a serene, peaceful atmosphere.

Scholar Cloud-Sea smiled warmly at her, pouring two cups of steaming, aromatic sweet-lotus tea from a clay pot into small white porcelain cups. He placed one cup in front of Xiao-Yue and the other near Li-Wen.

"Drink slowly, little miss," the old scholar said gently. "The tea is brewed from sweet mountain snow and wild lotus leaves."

Xiao-Yue took a small sip from her cup, her eyes lighting up! "It's so sweet! Brother Li-Wen, taste it! It tastes like warm rain!"

Li-Wen sat down on the stone bench across from her. He picked up the small porcelain cup with two broad fingers and took a small sip. The clean, sweet tea washed over his tongue, leaving a subtle, refreshing aftertaste of mountain flora.

"It is acceptable," Li-Wen flatly stated.

While Xiao-Yue happily enjoyed her sweet tea and star cakes, Scholar Cloud-Sea sat down across the table, his eyes carefully observing the quiet, broad-shouldered man.

"Northern Sovereign," Scholar Cloud-Sea spoke in a low, respectful tone. "You travel east toward the Eternal Ocean Horizon. Beyond this archipelago lies the Sea of Forgotten Stars—a vast, mysterious realm where ancient spatial laws warp and ordinary ships cannot tread."

Li-Wen did not interrupt. He took another quiet sip of his tea, his dark eyes fixed on the horizon visible through the open pavilion arches.

"The Eastern Sea Realm is vast," Scholar Cloud-Sea continued softly. "Many search its deep waters for power, ancient treasures, or immortal ascension. But your heart... your heart seeks neither throne nor gold."

Scholar Cloud-Sea looked down at the pink lotus lantern resting on the table.

"The spirit-marrow inside this lantern is pure," the old scholar murmured thoughtfully. "It was forged using ancient Northern primordial techniques to protect the soul from decay. However, the hairline crack on its silver frame allows its warmth to slowly bleed out into the atmosphere over time."

Li-Wen's hand paused on his porcelain cup.

His dark, void-like pupils shifted slowly toward Scholar Cloud-Sea.

"Can it be repaired?" Li-Wen asked.

His raspy voice carried no pressure, yet the absolute weight of his focus caused the quiet air inside the white pavilion to drop by several degrees.

Scholar Cloud-Sea did not flinch. He answered calmly, "In the deepest trench of the Sea of Forgotten Stars lies the Eternal Silver Reef. It produces Star-Marrow Ore—the only primordial metal in the world capable of mending ancient Northern artifacts without disturbing the soul residing within."

Xiao-Yue raised her small head from her tea cup, looking at her pink lantern, then up at Li-Wen. "Brother Li-Wen... will my lamp be fixed so it never cracks again?"

Li-Wen looked down at her small, hopeful face. He reached out his broad hand, gently patting her head, his broad thumb lightly smoothing a stray lock of hair behind her small ear.

"It will be fixed," Li-Wen promised softly, his deep voice carrying an unyielding certainty that echoed like an oath against the white stone walls.

While they sat inside the quiet pavilion, a dark, ominous shadow began to creep across the sky above the eastern sea!

The bright golden sunlight was gradually obscured by massive, pitch-black clouds that swirled in a violent, hurricane-like formation miles out at sea. The ocean water beyond the archipelago turned dark purple, and heavy spatial thunder rumbled deep within the upper atmosphere!

BOOOM... BOOOM... BOOOM...

From the depths of the black clouds, four massive flying warships forged from dark iron and glowing with crimson blood runes slowly descended!

These were not local vessels of the Dragon-Sea Sect. These were the dread flagships of the Central-Realm Coalition Fleet—sent directly by the Stage-7 Supreme Elders of the Central Continent to hunt down the Northern Sovereign!

Standing on the primary warship's high bow were three grand figures dressed in imperial purple-and-gold robes—the Three Supreme Envoys of the Central Coalition, all formidable Stage-6 Peak Sovereigns who commanded the continental armies of the inner realm!

"NORTHERN SOVEREIGN!" A thunderous, spatial-infused voice roared out from the lead warship, echoing across the entire Sun-Spire Archipelago like crackling thunder!

"You destroyed Gold-Sovereign City! You erased the four ruling lineages of the Western Province! The Central World Coalition has declared your existence a continental calamity!"

The four giant iron warships lined up along the mountain coast, their hundreds of high-grade spatial cannons glowing with dark crimson destruction energy, aiming directly at the Island of Forgotten Stars!

"Surrender your blade and submit to the soul-sealing judgment of the Central Coalition!" The Supreme Envoy shouted arrogantly, his voice shaking the mountain trees. "Otherwise, our spatial cannons will turn this entire archipelago into a sea of burning slag!"

Inside the Star-Gathering Pavilion, Scholar Cloud-Sea's face grew grave. He stood up, looking out at the four giant central warships hovering in the sky. "The Central Coalition... they have brought their continental spatial arrays..."

Xiao-Yue stopped drinking her tea. She set her small cup down, holding her lotus lantern close to her chest. She looked up at Li-Wen with quiet, calm trust. She was no longer frightened by noisy voices or dark clouds, because the broad shoulder beside her was a mountain that never fell.

"Brother Li-Wen," She squeaked softly. "The dark ships are making noise again."

Li-Wen slowly set his tea cup down on the white-stone table.

He did not draw the Pitch-Black Heavy Blade from his back. He did not stand up from his bench.

He looked out through the open white-stone arch at the four giant central warships hovering two miles away in the dark sky.

His dark, void-like pupils were flat, cold, and utterly devoid of mercy.

"You are disturbing her tea," Li-Wen murmured softly.

His deep, raspy voice carried no anger. It was a simple, flat statement that resonated through the spatial fabric of the atmosphere.

Li-Wen raised his broad left hand from the table and executed a casual, backhanded sweep of his fingers toward the open sky.

SWOOSH—!

A single, microscopic crescent wave of absolute-zero sapphire kinetic mass shot out from his fingertips, cutting through the white arch, across the ocean air, and straight into the dark storm clouds!

CRACKLE—! SHATTER—! REPRESS—!

The four giant iron warships—reinforced with Stage-6 spatial arrays and loaded with hundreds of continental cannons—didn't even have time to fire a single shot!

The moment the sapphire kinetic crescent touched the lead warship, all four colossal vessels, their Stage-6 Supreme Envoys, their thousands of imperial guards, and the three-mile storm clouds in the sky were instantly snap-froze into a single, massive, pale-blue ice sculpture suspended in mid-air!

CRUMB.

Li-Wen casually lowered his left hand back to his side.

The colossal pale-blue ice sculpture of the four warships and the storm clouds collapsed silently, turning into billions of sparkling frost-dust particles that fell harmlessly into the ocean below like a glittering rain of pale blue stars!

The dark clouds vanished. The sky cleared completely, revealing the bright, golden afternoon sun once more.

The Central Coalition's formidable fleet—sent to enforce continental judgment—was erased in less than a second, without a single sound of agony escaping into the air.

Silence—absolute, pristine, and tranquil silence—returned to the Island of Forgotten Stars.

Scholar Cloud-Sea stood in the white pavilion, his eyes wide, his hands trembling faintly inside his grey sleeves as he stared at the empty, clear blue sky where four giant warships had hovered moments before.

"A flick of a finger..." Scholar Cloud-Sea whispered in absolute, breathless awe. "He didn't even draw his blade..."

Li-Wen did not look at the ocean below.

He reached into the wooden box on the table, picked up another warm star cake, and placed it gently onto Xiao-Yue's small plate.

"Eat your cake, Xiao-Yue," Li-Wen murmured, his raspy voice dropping into its flat, steady tone. "We will head to the Eternal Silver Reef next."

"Yay! To fix my lamp!" Xiao-Yue squeaked with a bright, beautiful smile, taking a big bite of her star cake.

Scholar Cloud-Sea bowed his head deeply to the ground as Li-Wen stood up, holding little Xiao-Yue securely in his left arm and carrying the warm box of cakes under his right.

Side by side, the solitary Northern Sovereign and the small girl walked out of the white-stone pavilion, stepping onto the sunny mountain path that led down toward the deep sea waters of the east.

The golden sun shone warmly upon them, casting long, peaceful shadows along the ancient stone trail as they walked steadily forward into the endless horizons of the Sea of Forgotten Stars.
