After finally understanding his feelings for Azula, Kahn revisited his own heart, sinking into deep thought.
The Sound Chakra—blocked by lies.
And now, one of the three Chakras he had sealed was finally unblocked.
Lies?
So that's what it was.
The lie… was pretending he didn't like Azula.
Kahn let out a helpless laugh.
But the moment he clarified his feelings, another question immediately surfaced.
Should he go back?
Regardless of why the Great Banyan Tree had dragged him into a parallel world, his reason for seeking the Great Banyan Tree was simple—Azula's confession had left him confused, so he came to search for the truth in his own heart.
The process was nothing like he expected—messy, troublesome, even dangerous—but in the end, he got his answer. So logically, it made sense to return.
And honestly, he was homesick.
This parallel world was similar, but not identical. Iroh, Zuko, the others… they were familiar, but not his Iroh or his Zuko.
And most importantly—not his Azula.
Still, after weighing everything, Kahn decided to stay a bit longer.
First, he had promised to personally deal with this world's Ozai. He wasn't going to break his word.
Second, Aang's Airbending, Katara's Waterbending, and Toph's Earthbending were all excellent. He still hadn't mastered everything he wanted to learn.
And finally…
Even though he now understood he liked Azula, when he remembered the moment she confessed, something inside him hesitated.
Kahn, would you like to manage the Fire Nation with me?
Manage the Fire Nation… together?
Repeating the words only made the weight of them more obvious.
Maybe there were still things he hadn't sorted out.
His attention shifted to the other two blocked Chakras—the Earth Chakra and the Meditation Chakra.
Fear.
And obsession.
He still couldn't identify the source of his fear, but his obsession with his identity… that one he had some guesses about.
"So you're here!"
A voice interrupted his thoughts. Kahn opened his eyes and found Iroh standing at the doorway, chuckling warmly.
"Why are you hiding all the way over here?"
Kahn sighed. "Please stop pretending you don't know."
"Hahaha…"
Iroh couldn't help but laugh—with a very clear hint of schadenfreude. Because Kahn, honestly, had brought this chaos on himself.
When Ty Lee asked to go out alone with him, half the group had suspected her intentions.
But when she returned looking dazed and lost, everyone was confused—did she succeed? Did she fail?
Then the next morning, a bombshell exploded throughout the Avatar Team:
Kahn had rejected Ty Lee because the person he liked was Azula.
Azula.
Azula!?
Azula?!?!
Everyone lost their minds.
According to Ty Lee's own stunned retelling, she had been so shocked that even the sadness of being rejected was temporarily erased.
The entire group refused to believe it. Their gossip engines ignited at maximum output. They surrounded Kahn like hungry foxes, demanding explanations.
Kahn had no escape. He could only explain the basics—and clarify that the Azula he loved was not the Azula of this world.
Even then, no one really believed him.
Sure, maybe the Azula from his world was different… but it was still Azula.
Zuko, in particular, was destroyed on a spiritual level. Knowing his sister better than anyone, he couldn't wrap his mind around it.
If Kahn hadn't admitted it himself, Zuko would've sworn it was fake news.
This world is insane, Zuko thought.
In his daze, he looked at Kahn and muttered:
"So… should I call you brother-in-law?"
"…Get lost."
With the gossip onslaught too much to bear, Kahn fled into a remote little room to hide.
"What do you want from me?" he asked Iroh dryly.
"Nothing serious," Iroh said. "Just letting you know Aang is back. Want to go see him?"
"Aang's back?"
Kahn raised a brow. That was fast.
But then he waved it off.
"Forget it. I won't go for now."
Once Aang heard the news about him and Azula, there'd be another wave of gossip. Kahn needed time to recover emotionally.
But reality always had different plans.
Just as he finished speaking, a whirlwind burst through the doorway.
"Kahn! You LIKE Azula?!"
"…"
Kahn covered his face with both hands.
So painful.
After everyone promised—for now—not to bring up his gossip again, Kahn finally emerged and checked on Aang's situation.
"Aang, are you sure you've really mastered the Avatar State this time?" Sokka asked skeptically.
Given Aang's previous stunt—sneaking out, claiming he mastered it, and definitely not mastering it—no one blamed Sokka for doubting him.
"I really have this time! If you don't believe me, I can show you!"
Aang insisted, while Toph asked bluntly:
"If you could master it, then why did you sneak out last time and lie to us?"
"Uh…"
Aang froze.
His eyes darted toward Katara.
His face turned bright red.
"I… there were some problems, but after coming back and asking Kahn for advice, I figured things out…"
He looked desperately at Kahn for help. If his feelings for Katara were exposed now, he would die on the spot.
Kahn shot him a smug smirk.
Oh? You dared to gossip about me earlier? You're in danger, boy.
But for his brother's happiness, he finally sighed and stepped in.
"It was just some Spiritbending concerns. Aang hadn't fully understood something, and I helped him clear it up. Nothing major."
Aang let out a breath of pure relief.
Then Kahn grinned wickedly.
"Well then, since you've mastered the Avatar State, shouldn't you show us a little demonstration?"
