"I can't stay silent… Edmon is not one to play fair," Queen Melissa roared at the woman who had her back to her.
"You should know him well enough by now. What do you all want from me?" she growled, her hands trembling as she tried to hold on to the glass of wine.
She had been drinking way too much, far beyond her tolerance. Paula was worried, and Adela was scared, but the woman with her stood still like a rock.
"Melissa, I made you who you are today. It is only right you pay me for it," the woman hissed.
Queen Melissa's eyes burned with rage. She staggered forward, but her weak body stumbled to the floor.
"Don't act like I enjoyed all the benefits. I gave you all I could," Melissa hissed, her eyes on the ground and fingers tightened around the glass.
"I was there for you. I made you someone respectable, gave you wealth, and even had your name in places you never would have stepped in… how is that not enough?"
