Chapter 5 - The Bloody Massacre: First Appearance of the Crimson Phantom(3)

Alvin gave a fierce battle cry in anger when he saw the five aircrafts getting away from his sight. Gritting his teeth, he turned back and charged towards the three-meter-tall warrior apes which were rushing towards him like wild bulls.

When he reached near the ape at the front, Alvin suddenly ducked, evading the strike of the ape, and holding the ape's ankle, he effortlessly lifted it up and swung its body towards the other apes, making the few at the front fall backward.

Then, taking advantage of the disruption in their formation, he picked up one of the axes from the ground and, with a sudden swing, three apes were beheaded, their bodies still in a posture of getting up from the ground.

"Roar..." one of the apes roared in fury and chopped its axe down at Alvin.

Alvin did not dodge the attack like before. With his left hand, he grabbed the armor of one of the apes and used its body as a shield to block the attack. The poor ape was cut into two equal parts by the axe before it could even tell its companion to stop.

What followed was a one-sided brutal massacre. No matter what formation the apes used or if they attacked him all at once, within thirty minutes, all the warrior apes and the floating robots were lying on the ground in pieces.

Just the bloody smell floating in the air was enough to make even the bravest warriors shiver. The whole spacious lab appeared like an art made by the very devil who rules hell, with blood and body parts lying here and there.

After looking around him coldly one last time, Alvin walked towards a random direction. He did not care if the way he was walking was correct or not. If there was a wall blocking him, he would just swing his axe and make a way for himself.

As he was walking forward, Alvin saw many rooms filled with different machines and carcasses of different beasts preserved in some acid-like solutions. At the end, there was also a large hall filled with many cages containing human beings of different age groups, from small babies to even very old people.

All of them shivered in fright when they saw Alvin entering the hall with a huge axe dragging behind him.

His entire body was covered in blood at this moment. Coupled with his ruby red eyes, which had a sinister glow in them, anyone who saw him would not think he was a good person with how horrifying he looked right now.

Alvin just looked at the huge cages indifferently before walking away by smashing a hole through the wall which blocked his path.

The people in the cages held their breath in fear of angering this demon, who was smashing walls as though they were made of paper.

A long time after Alvin left, the people let out sighs of relief.

"What... happened?" one of the middle-aged women in a cage asked stutteringly.

No one replied to her as they were also clueless about the whole situation.

"Swoosh... swoosh... swoosh..."

After a long time, more than twenty military aircrafts hovered above the now abandoned lab.

Their hatches opened, and several people in military uniforms jumped down. Most of them held long spears in their hands. There were also some people who had other weapons like magic staffs, swords, hammers, etc. Their each measured step and flawless coordination as they jumped off the plane showed their identity as soldiers.

"Seriously, this place looks like a mini hell to me," one of the lady officers said while cringing her nose.

"Tsk... even dead guard simians, which are known to be unkillable existences in a tier two jungle like this, are lying here and there with their body parts separated from their bodies. The group which attacked this base is not something to be trifled with," a muscular man who appeared to be the leader of the group said as he inspected one of the huge axes of the warrior apes John summoned.

"Boss, here are some survivors..." just then, one of the subordinates called out.

"Twenty people come with me. The rest, search the entire place and report your findings," the muscular man said to his subordinates and rushed towards the hall where the survivors were kept.

All the cages were already opened up, and the people inside were now standing outside the cages with joy in their eyes upon being released from this hell.

"Clap..." "Clap..."

The muscular leader clapped his hands to attract everyone's attention. "We are soldiers of the Great Celestial Alliance. Please tell us what you know about this place and what happened here."

One of the middle-aged men from the group raised his hand and came forward. "All of us are people of the Blue Water Village. These people offered us high-paying jobs and brought us here. But it was only after being locked up here like livestock that we realized we were tricked..."

"We are not sure what their purpose is, but they would occasionally select someone from the group to go with them. But none of them ever came back once they left..."

"As for what happened here, we do not know anything about it. A few hours ago, we saw a person holding a huge axe walking out . The rest is not clear..."

The leader touched his chin. "A man holding an axe..."

"I know..." suddenly a five or six-year-old child raised her hand from her mother's arms. The woman hurriedly held the child's hand down, fearing she would anger the fierce-looking officer in front of her.

The leader walked towards the woman and touched the kid's head with a gentle smile. "Do not worry. Although I look like a bear, I am not that scary. Little girl, speak what you want to say."

The little girl looked at her mother and, after seeing her mother nod, she said, "It is a Phantom!"

"Huh?" the leader's face went blank when he heard this.

The little girl continued seriously, "Our Blue Water Village is protected by Phantoms, and these bad people harmed little Mia and Mommy. So Mia prayed to the Phantom guardians of the village, and one of them came here to rescue us."

Several villagers' eyes lit up when they heard this.

"Yes, it is our guardian. I even saw his red eyes. It is definitely the War Guardian Crimson Phantom."

"Yes, yes... now that I think about it, he even looked at us tenderly before walking away. It is definitely our guardian god."

"No doubt about it. It is definitely the Crimson Guardian. The strongest guardian who could even fight against the Sea God without losing."

"Little Mia really helped us this time. If the guardians had not heard her prayers, we all would have rotted inside this cage."

"Yes, yes... we should properly thank little Mia for this."
