Chapter 37 - The Woman I Recruited Betrayed Me?

"So boring, so annoying…"

Draped in luxurious designer clothes and accessories, adorned with extravagant jewelry, and having indulged in gourmet delicacies, Kawakami Tomie was still unsatisfied.

Lounging on the apartment's sofa, she grew irritated with the meticulously decorated room and shouted impatiently at Shima Izuki, who was deep in thought. "I want to go out! Let me go shopping!!"

"Kawakami Tomie, I've bought you so many luxury goods, and you're still not satisfied?"

Izuki had seen Tomie's vanity in full force—the epitome of selfishness. Yet, with a face like hers, it was exasperatingly understandable.

She had the capital to act this way.

As a woman, one should revel in passion and surrender to the Leader's desires to truly live. These luxury items were mere trinkets. To Izuki, Tomie—who cared only for material wealth and not physical intimacy—was practically her natural enemy.

"Even if you buy me more designer bags and clothes, what's the point if I can't go out and make those ordinary, boring women jealous?" Tomie's demeanor flipped suddenly. "Hey! You ugly woman over there, hurry up and find me a man!"

"Not just any man—he has to be rich and handsome. Preferably the world's most handsome man. Only someone like that deserves me."

Izuki's lips twitched violently. How narcissistic can you get?

"Sorry, but even the world's most handsome man can't compare to the Leader," Izuki said coolly. "If you want a man, I can send you straight to the Leader's room."

"That guy's not even human!" Tomie screeched.

"You're the Leader's pet, his property. You don't get to choose other men."

"I don't care! Only men can highlight my elegance! Now! Get me a rich, handsome guy—not too old, not too ugly. If you can't find a rich one, a trust-fund kid will do…"

Izuki's smile stiffened. Even her patience was wearing thin, tempted to slap this woman. "So picky… You caused a scene at the hospital, embarrassing Miss Reina and the director's wife, just to steal their men?"

"Steal men? Please, those boring men throw themselves at me!" Tomie crossed her legs elegantly, admiring her manicured nails with a haughty look. "Does Kawakami Tomie need to steal men? Especially that Muto."

"He came groveling like a dog, offering to buy me clothes and makeup. I didn't even flirt with him. Why wouldn't I take free stuff?"

Tomie's face dripped with disdain, embodying a vain woman to perfection—no, she was that woman.

"And the director's wife?"

"Oh, her," Tomie flicked her dark hair, giggling. "Her fault for being useless, unable to keep her man. He was rich, not bad-looking, though a bit old… Seemed all stoic and unaffected at first."

"But I just gave him a little wink, and he came running."

Tomie's laughter sparkled. "See? All men in this world are the same. No matter how mature or composed, they all kneel before my charm."

This woman was utterly deplorable, the pinnacle of wickedness, yet her feminine allure was undeniable.

"Oh? Speak of the devil, he's calling again," Tomie said, glancing at her phone before boredly hanging up.

"You wanted a man—why not answer?"

"Don't feel like it. Let him call a few more times," Tomie said, suddenly eyeing Izuki suspiciously. "Didn't you just call me the Leader's property? Why aren't you mentioning it now?"

"No, I think this is fine," Izuki said, her eyes glinting dangerously. "I've got no ties with Mizuki Nishikino. Your family-wrecking antics are perfect for driving those wives to despair and pain."

Tomie: "???"

"Otherwise, how could the Himegami Society recruit them?"

Izuki patted Tomie's shoulder. "So, here's my plan: I'll find you outstanding men. You seduce them, and I'll bring those desperate wives into the fold as believers."

Tomie's mouth opened, not opposed to the idea. She loved watching men go mad for her and relished the jealous glares of other women.

Pure bliss~

"What are you two talking about?" Muxiao Xiao's voice cut in from the doorway. "I just got here, and you're already scheming together? Izuki, that's low, even for you."

Using Tomie to ruin others? That's too much.

"It's all for the Himegami Society's growth, Leader," Izuki said, noticing the red-haired woman behind Muxiao. Seeing Reina's alluring figure and flushed face, she gave a suggestive smile.

"How was Miss Reina's flavor? Such a beautiful, refined married woman—surely you enjoyed her, Leader?"

Reina glanced at Izuki impassively, her expression neutral.

"There'll be even more beautiful wives for you to enjoy… I'm doing this to satisfy you, Leader."

"Uh, well… you've got a point," Muxiao couldn't argue, glancing at Izuki and Tomie. "Just don't go overboard."

He tacitly approved their actions.

Izuki was surprised—she'd expected him to object. She had no idea Muxiao's real plan or that the believers she painstakingly recruited had been turned against her by the Leader.

She's recruiting talent for me! Why refuse? Muxiao grinned inwardly.

"Looks like the Leader's quite pleased with these beautiful wives. Understood," Izuki said, turning to the silent Reina. "Miss Reina, if I recall, Mizuki Nishikino's your close friend, your bestie. Don't you care about her situation?"

"Even if I do, it changes nothing. I trust the Leader to handle it," Reina said, expressing her support for Muxiao.

Izuki raised an eyebrow. What's this? Such trust in the Leader? What happened between you two?

Did his… techniques win you over completely?

Those tentacles are impressive, in every sense…

"Ahem, Izuki," Muxiao cleared his throat. "Miss Reina's not only capable and strong but loyal to the cult. She has nothing to lose, so she won't betray us. I've decided to make her my chief secretary, handling the cult's affairs."

"…"

Huh?

"Izuki, you're already busy watching Tomie and recruiting believers," Muxiao said earnestly. "It's too much for one person. From now on, focus on new recruits. Leave the chief secretary role to Reina—I trust she's up to it."

"Leader…"

"It's settled! Don't worry, Izuki, the Himegami Society will grow stronger!"

Seeing Muxiao's cartoonish eyes squint with a smile, Izuki's eyes twitched wildly.

The believer I recruited… backstabbed me?

That's not fair!
