Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Automatic Farm a Water Aptitude

Sylas Woken up and get out of the house

"Good morning world!!" He said it happily

Warming the soil and causing the crops to glow in amber and green hues, the early sun cast a lovely gold glow over the fields.

"Good morning, Sylas!" Mira's voice called him across the field.

He turned and saw her walking toward him and he saw her with a basket on her arm.

"Morning," he said waving at her

She came to stand beside him, looking over the crops. "The village is doing better. People are learning, slowly but surely. But I noticed some spots where the plants aren't doing as well. Have you seen that?"

Sylas nodded and looked toward at the end of the field. "Yeah, I noticed it too. Getting water to everything is tough. Carrying buckets all day is exhausting."

Mira frowned slightly. "You might want to talk to Garen. He's been working on a few strange little inventions lately. He might be able to help."

"Garen? The blacksmith?" Sylas raised an eyebrow.

She laughed. "I know, it sounds odd. But he likes solving problems. You might be surprised."

Sylas scratched the back of his neck, thinking it. "Well, it's worth a shot."

"Tell him I sent you," Mira said with a smile before heading back to the village.

Sylas made his way to the forge. The sound of hammering filled the air. Garen was hard at work, sleeves rolled up and sweat on his brow. Sparks flew as he shaped the hot metal.

"Hey, Garen!" Sylas called.

Garen paused and looked up. "Something broken?"

"Sort of," Sylas said, stepping inside. "I need your help with something new."

"Now you've got my attention."

"I want to build an irrigation system," Sylas said. "Something automatic—so we don't have to carry buckets all day."

Garen leaned on the table, thinking. "That's a big ask. But maybe not impossible. What are you imagining?"

"Some pipes. A lever. A way to pull water from the well and spread it across the field."

Garen stroked his beard. "I'd need copper, some stone, iron for the moving parts, and wood for the base. Give me a day or two."

"I'll get everything," Sylas promised.

As he spoke, a strange tingle passed through him. Then, glowing words appeared in front of his eyes:

> Blueprint Unlocked: Automatic Sprinkler

Description: A machine that irrigates crops automatically.

Materials: Copper, Wood, Stone, Iron.

Crafting Time: 1 Day

He blinked, but didn't let it show. No one else needed to know.

"I've got a design in mind," he said, hiding the surprise in his voice. "I'll bring you the materials."

"Alright," Garen said. "Drop them off and I'll start."

By midday, Sylas came back carrying sacks filled with the materials. Garen gave a quick nod and waved him in.

"Perfect. Give me a few hours," the blacksmith said.

Sylas stayed and watched for a while. It was almost calming—watching the hammer rise and fall, hearing the hiss of metal cooled in water. Bit by bit, the strange machine came to life. Pipes connected. A wooden base was shaped. Iron hinges clicked into place.

Finally, Garen wiped his brow. "It's done. It's not pretty, but this will work."

The sprinkler looked odd—pipes, levers, and valves all fitted together—but there was something impressive about it.

"How do I use it?" Sylas asked.

"Connect it to the well. Place it near the crops. Pull the lever and let it run."

Sylas grinned. "This is perfect."

"Just don't forget to pay," Garen added with a grin of his own.

Sylas handed him a small bag of coins. "Of course."

Back at the field, Sylas set up the machine. He connected a narrow pipe to the well and pulled the lever. Water began to spray out in a steady stream, soaking the dry soil. The plants shimmered under the sunlight, catching the water like tiny jewels.

> New Feature: Automated Irrigation

Your crops will water themselves.

Sylas let out a long breath and a small smile tugging at his lips. No more hauling buckets. He'd saved hours of hard labor with just one invention.

But then, more words appeared.

> New Quest: Fields of Progress

Goal: Add more automatic tools for farming.

Reward: 100 XP and a Fertilizer Dispenser Blueprint.

And another message followed:

> New Skill: Water's Blessing

Effect: Watering crops is now faster and uses fewer resources.

Warmth spread through his hands. He felt something shift—like he was more connected to the earth, the plants, and the water flowing through the land.

Then came the biggest surprise:

> Ability Unlocked: Water Aptitude

Passive: +10% effectiveness with water skills.

Active: Can manipulate water (move, purify, enhance agriculture).

Sylas froze. The world sharpened. He could feel the water in the air, in the pipes, even beneath the soil. It was like water had become part of him.

He raised a hand slowly. The stream from the sprinkler shifted, curving gently in the direction of his palm.

"Water magic…" he whispered, eyes wide.

A whole new part of the world had opened up to him.

"Sylas?" Mira's voice pulled him back.

He turned to see her approaching, looking concerned. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah," he said and trying to steady his breathing. "Something… strange just happened."

She stepped closer. "Strange how?"

He gave a crooked smile. "Good strange. And I think it's just the beginning."
