Chapter 245 - Cloud Monster

The once sunlit sky had suddenly darkened, as if a giant cloth had blocked out the light.

Following everyone's gaze, a massive, tangled mass of clouds abruptly appeared in the sky.

An enormous, flawlessly white cloud resembling both a cotton ball and a kneaded dough.

It rolled and churned in the sky, as if some monstrous creature were about to emerge from within.

For a moment, everyone held their breath, staring in awe at the bizarre cloud formation.

They had encountered strange clouds in uncharted waters before, but those were merely rain-heavy storm clouds.

None were as eerie as this one.

Suddenly, the massive clouds began to split into smaller fragments, each morphing into different shapes.

Before long, the sky was filled with clouds taking the forms of various beasts, each uniquely shaped.

Some resembled wild wolves or tigers, their clawed feet treading on empty air as they silently roared with bared fangs.

Others took on bizarre forms, likely mimicking mythical creatures, transforming into countless strange yet imposing figures.

Everyone's vision was quickly overwhelmed by a vast expanse of white—not from snowfall, but from the sky now teeming with cloud-formed monsters!

Cloud Beasts: Living forms shaped from special clouds, typically gathering in areas with dense cloud cover and abundant life force.

Upon detecting intense energy fluctuations on the ground, they transform from ordinary clouds into Cloud Beasts to attack.

Prey they hunt are devoured by the clouds, strengthening the beasts themselves.

Any creature consumed can be imitated by the clouds, along with partial abilities.

Composed of cloud matter, they can either nullify or significantly weaken most attacks.

Reading the Pokedex Ability's displayed information, Akira immediately thought of a certain group of strikingly similar Pokemon.

Namely, the Three Cloud Deities from the Unova region in the Pokemon world!

As the name suggests, the Three Cloud Deities consist of three Pokemon.

Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus—their abilities easily inferred from their names.

Beyond these three, a later addition named Enamorus could also be grouped with them based on form and traits.

A notable feature of the Pokemon world is that each region typically has one Legendary-tier deity accompanied by three subordinates.

These subordinates include trios like the Legendary Beasts, Legendary Birds and Regi trio.

But there are exceptions.

The Unova region has two factions of Legendaries.

First, the widely known Tao Trio—Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem.

Then there's the Three Cloud Deities, who lack a higher-ranking leader, making Landorus the strongest among them.

Even so, their power shouldn't be underestimated.

Team Rocket's leader Giovanni once claimed the Three Cloud Deities could dominate the world.

While an exaggeration, as Legendaries, their strength is nothing to scoff at.

The reason Akira associated them with the Three Cloud Deities wasn't just because they're among the few cloud-related Pokemon.

They also possess a unique ability.

Two forms—Incarnate Forme and Therian Forme.

Incarnate Forme features a beast-like upper body supported by white clouds below.

Therian Forme takes on a full beast appearance, with clouds distributed across the body.

These forms bear striking resemblance to the swarms of Cloud Beasts now filling the sky.

So...

Could one of the Three Cloud Deities be among the Pokemons being birthed here?

Akira's brow arched at this plausible speculation—the Cloud Beasts before him perfectly matched the Three Cloud Deities' traits.

But now wasn't the time for contemplation.

"Golem!"

Muheer's face darkened as he casually flicked his wrist, instantly materializing a bow shimmering with aura.

With these bizarre clouds now hovering above, there was no telling when they might descend to attack.

They had to thin their numbers before the creatures could reach the ground.

After all, the number of those cloud monsters was simply overwhelming, densely blotting out the azure sky.

It was as if a switch had been flipped in this area, turning day into night.

Muheer gripped his bow and gazed skyward, drawing the string taut—no need to even aim before releasing.

"Got it!"

Golem responded gruffly, simultaneously channeling vast amounts of aura to materialize as many Aura Weapons as possible in the shortest time.

Against enemies in the sky, their offensive options were limited, relying solely on ranged attacks.

Muheer's eyes hardened as his fingers rapidly drew and released the bowstring, firing six arrows in an instant!

"Whoosh—whoosh..."

The arrows, composed of aura, were far sharper and sturdier than ordinary ones, swiftly tracing six lines across the sky.

Their razor-sharp tips seemed capable of piercing through anything effortlessly.

Under the heavy or hopeful gazes of the group, the arrows struck the cloud beasts squarely.

The creatures' bodies rippled with waves, wisps of mist-like substance dispersing from the impact.

Yet the arrows simply passed through the cloud beasts, emerging on the other side.

In the blink of an eye, the cloud beasts reformed, appearing almost entirely unharmed.

This outcome cast a shadow over many hearts, leaving them stunned.

Those six arrows from Muheer had been far from weak—capable of piercing even house-sized sandworms with ease.

Though the cloud beasts had been pierced, this wasn't the result they'd hoped for.

"Are they immune to most attacks due to their unique physiology?"

"Quite the troublesome enemies~"

Ging dusted off his clothes, staring intently at the cloud beasts overhead as he muttered to himself.

Those six arrows hadn't been entirely useless—at least they'd confirmed conventional attacks were ineffective.

Ging even speculated that had Muheer used normal arrows instead of aura-infused ones, they might have had absolutely no effect at all.

At least this way, they'd dispersed some of the creatures.

This suggested the cloud monsters were not only immune to physical attacks but could largely nullify aura assaults as well.

Dealing with them would be difficult!

Either they'd need overwhelming force beyond the creatures' endurance, or an entirely different approach— perhaps specialized Nen abilities or Aura Tools.

Before they could devise a strategy, the cloud beasts began moving, launching their assault!

Contrary to their cloud-like nature, the creatures moved swiftly, especially given their numbers.

The sheer multitude was enough to make one's scalp crawl, like a downpour of white rain falling from the sky!

Suddenly, an enormous figure materialized in the air, the surrounding atmosphere compressing as if frozen solid.

It was as if a vacuum had formed, leaving everyone struggling to breathe.

The colossal entity blotted out the sky, radiating pure malice as thick, inky aura saturated the surroundings.

For that moment, it felt as though the most terrifying, evil presence in the world had descended upon the grasslands.
