Name: Shedinja
Ability: Sturdy
Type: (Cannot be viewed)
Strength: Undefined
Moves: Scratch (Others cannot be viewed)
Shedinja original name is "Shell Shedder" a highly peculiar Pokemon.
Its uniqueness manifests in various aspects, including its acquisition method and abilities.
There is only one way to obtain Shedinja: when a Nincada evolves into Ninjask at level 20 or above.
If the trainer has a Pokeball in their bag and an empty slot in their Accompany team when Nincada evolves, they will simultaneously receive both Ninjask and Shedinja.
Shedinja mysteriously appears inside the Pokeball without notice.
It can fly without flapping its wings and its hollow body does not breathe—a truly enigmatic Pokemon. Its appearance resembles a cicada, but it bears a halo above its head, giving it the aura of a legendary angel.
It is said that a soul enters the empty shell shed by Nincada, thus giving birth to Shedinja.
Coupled with its Ghost-type attribute, people refer to it as the "Ghost Cicada."
This was the third entity Akira had encountered whose strength was undefined!
The first was "Ai" one of the "Threats" he encountered in the Harimu Ruins.
The second was the Ditto and the third was the newly Shedinja!
As for why Shedinja strength was undefined, Akira could roughly explain it.
The Pokédex strength assessment is an overall estimate.
Due to Shedinja Sturdy ability, it cannot die—at least, not in the world of Hunter x Hunter.
That's why its strength cannot be defined.
This was another peculiarity of Shedinja: its HP is fixed at just one point!
Meaning even a scratch would kill it.
Originally, this would be a massive flaw—but paired with the Sturdy ability, it becomes an overpowered advantage.
Sturdy: A Pokemon with this ability will not faint from a single hit when at full HP, always surviving with 1 HP remaining.
Even one-hit-KO moves cannot bypass this effect.
The only way it can die is by using self-destructive moves like Self-Destruct or Final Gambit.
For Shedinja, "full HP" means 1 HP.
In other words, no matter what attack it faces, Sturdy will always activate.
It's essentially an invincibility hack—completely unkillable.
Originally, Shedinja ability wasn't Sturdy, so why did this one hatch with a non-standard ability?
Akira had a rough guess: it must be related to the Demon Realm.
Perhaps the Secret Realm gives birth to Mega Evolved Pokemon, while the Demon Realm produces Pokemon with altered Abilities.
Just to be safe, Akira also applied Restriction and Vow to Shedinja.
Name: Shedinja
Ability: Sturdy
Type: Ghost/Bug
Power Level: Undefined
Moves: False Swipe, Shadow Claw, X-Scissor, Phantom Force, Bug Bite...
As expected, its power level remains undefined.
However, considering Shedinja base stat total of just over 200, its combat strength probably isn't that high.
But Shedinja true value doesn't lie on the battlefield!
At first glance, Akira was utterly shocked by this Sturdy Shedinja.
By the second glance, he'd already realized its best possible use. Akira hadn't forgotten about the Nen ability branch he'd developed - Fusion.
This Sturdy Shedinja had an invincibility hack - it simply couldn't die no matter what.
So if he used his Nen ability to fuse with Shedinja, wouldn't that mean... He'd become immortal?!
No matter what kind of attack landed on him, he'd be guaranteed to survive!
As long as he maintained the fusion with Shedinja, no one could kill him!
His survival capabilities would receive an epic upgrade!
Not just an upgrade - it would skyrocket to the absolute peak!
Previously, his survival mainly depended on Gardevoir Teleport and his Pokemon protective skills. Or his own Aura defenses, summoning Pokemon to tank attacks. But even all those combined couldn't compare to the sense of security this Sturdy Shedinja provided.
This was true immortality.
Of course, immortality didn't mean invincibility - enemies could still imprison him. But in most situations, he'd be practically invincible.
Now Akira confidence in exploring the Dark Continent soared even higher!
From now on, Shedinja would be his "permanent" Pokemon.
Wasting no time, Akira immediately fused with Shedinja.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, he planned to maintain this fusion indefinitely.
This was Shedinja true purpose! To give Akira an invincibility hack.
One of the two Incubation Bars had already completed, but the other had stalled at the quarter mark. The last time he'd seen this was when incubating Gengar.
So certain conditions still needed to be met?
"Hiss hiss..."
The insect swarm shrieks snapped Akira back to reality.
All he could hear were the crackling sounds of burning flames and the mournful cries of the cicada swarm. The noise was so piercing it seemed to penetrate eardrums and stab directly into the soul.
Even through the continuous flames, Akira faintly caught a whiff of something like barbecue.
I wonder if these Devil Cicadas are edible?
Not that it mattered - after being altered by the Dark Sonata, they definitely weren't fit for consumption. That earlier attack had concentrated massive amounts of Aura, so its power was undeniable.
The space before them suddenly opened up, no longer packed with dense cicada swarms.
Instead, there were now small hills composed entirely of charred Devil Cicada corpses."
"This is... incredible!" Knuckle murmured to himself.
These cicadas had been just as formidable as the "people" who attacked them earlier. Despite exhausting enormous amounts of Aura, they'd only managed to eliminate about half the enemies.
Yet Akira single fire attack had completely annihilated the entire swarm. If not for the lingering evidence, no one would believe this place had been swarming with cicadas moments ago.
Among the Devil Cicadas, those retaining roughly their original forms were rare - most had been reduced to ashes by the explosion.
No one mocked Knuckle reaction, as everyone else was equally stunned by Akira attack.
'That fire attack... I probably couldn't have survived it'
Morel continued to smoke, though not to create more Purple Haze Soldiers—those enemies had already been wiped out. The few remaining ones had been caught in Akira flames, leaving no trace behind.
He simply wanted to ease the tension in his heart.
After a quick mental assessment, Morel concluded that there was no way he could withstand those flames. He could manipulate white smoke to form shields for defense and with the reinforcement of Aura, his defensive capabilities were solid.
But he had no confidence in blocking that attack!
In other words, against Akira, he wouldn't last even a single move.
Though he had mentally prepared himself beforehand, actually experiencing this reality still left Morel sighing in resignation.
Then again, considering Akira title as the "World Strongest," it made sense.
Facing the strongest in the world, failing to withstand a single move was only natural, wasn't it?
Beside him, Cluck was equally stunned by the power of Akira attack, her delicate face filled with astonishment.
Akira abilities were practically common knowledge.
He possessed numerous types of Nen beasts, each seemingly with its own unique ability. Thus, among the world top five Nen Users, he was known as the "Nen Beast Master."
Generally, a Nen User abilities manifested within a single category. For example, transmutation, manipulation, enhancement… Akira specialty was naturally creating Nen beasts, much like other Nen Users who specialized in summoning.
But… Why could he also unleash flame attacks, which fell under the Transmutation category?!
Shock surged like a tidal wave within Cluck heart, almost tangible in its intensity.
She had a premonition—Akira true strength far surpassed what he had shown on the surface!
His real secrets remained unknown!
Ignoring the stunned crowd, Akira was more focused on the remaining Incubation Bar. Based on past experience, it would only progress if he actively pushed forward.
With the sturdy Shedinja already obtained, Akira now had even higher expectations for the other Incubation Bar.
What kind of Pokemon would it be? And what had triggered its incubation?
Fueled by rising anticipation, Akira didn't want to waste any more time and prepared to head straight for the Dark Sonata location!
Standing in place, Akira took a deep breath, as if blowing into the Aura coiled around his body. The Aura rapidly expanded, forming a massive semicircular barrier that stretched outward in all directions.
He was trying to pinpoint the Dark Sonata position!
The torrential Aura surged like a raging river, flooding the surroundings as the range of his "En" continued to expand. A few breaths later, a sharp glint flashed in Akira eyes and a faint smile curled his lips.
He had found it!
At the same time, through the perception of "En," Akira also detected numerous Devil Cicadas approaching.
Apart from the controlled "people," the musical influence was ineffective—the Dark Sonata could only rely on these Devil Cicadas to attack.
Well then… Time to carve a path!
"Hm? What are you—?" Morel paused mid-smoke, his mature face showing surprise.
Was he planning another attack?
Hydreigon silently floated beside Akira, its three ferocious heads gathering dazzling light.
All three maws faced the gray mist ahead, their attacks fully charged and ready!
In an instant, three pure white yet terrifyingly powerful beams shot forth in rapid succession!
An overwhelming aura of malevolence surrounded Hydreigon, accentuated by the three massive beams of energy. It was enough to make one feel dreaded, leaving them no choice but to watch helplessly as Hydreigon attacked without any chance to react.
Normal-type ultimate move—Hyper Beam!
Three Hyper Beams tore through the gray mist, their immense energy shredding it into fragments that scattered into the air. Along the path of the three beams, the once-pervasive mist was completely obliterated.
With the mist no longer obstructing their vision, the group could finally see what lay at the end.
The Devil Cicadas, controlled by the Dark Sonata, seemed to deliberately throw themselves into the path of the terrifying Hyper Beams. In the blink of an eye, accompanied by flashes of blinding light, the once-formidable swarm of cicadas was reduced to ashes.
Unlike the earlier attack, they didn't even have the chance to let out a single cry.
Since the three Hyper Beams were fired simultaneously, the Devil Cicadas' Shed Skin ability couldn't activate in time. If the cicadas had retained any self-awareness, they would have surely considered themselves terribly unlucky.
Of all enemies, they had to face a Pokemon.
Against opponents like Morel or Cluck, their Shed Skin would have been a deadly weapon—effectively giving them two lives. But against Akira, whether they had one life or two, the outcome would have been the same.
The cicada swarm defensive formation was as flimsy as paper.
Even weakened, the Hyper Beams pierced straight through, heading directly for the Dark Sonata location!
"BOOM!!"
Another deafening explosion rang out.
Dust clouds billowed, and the sound of shattered stone filled the air. The shockwaves from the blast sent the gray mist swirling violently, while the gale-force winds scattered the remains of the Devil Cicadas along with the debris.
Thanks to Hydreigon unique physiology, it could unleash three attacks at once—equivalent to three S- rank strikes.
Of course, the Aura consumption was also three times the norm. But judging by the results, the triple cost was well worth it.
The Hyper Beams had forcibly torn open a path through the mist, revealing a direct route to the Dark Sonata!
With the aid of 'Gyo', the group could clearly see what lay at the end of the path.
An utterly grotesque figure—if it could even be called that.
It was more like a misshapen shadow, outlined in black threads and covered in snowflake-like patterns that induced dizziness and discomfort upon prolonged viewing.
It resembled the static of an old television with no signal. Beside the shadow stood an equally eerie violin, also outlined in black threads.
The soul-stealing melody originated from there.
It was clear that the Dark Sonata hadn't fared well after taking the Hyper Beam head-on.
The shadows around it were dissipating, its outer edges undulating like sound waves. Had it not been for the cicada swarm acting as a buffer, the damage would have been far worse.
Despite being severely weakened, the aura emanating from the Dark Sonata grew even more terrifying.
As if sensing its dire predicament, it now resembled a cornered beast, ready to fight to the death!
The shadow trembled violently, like tree branches swaying in a storm, while the violin melody transformed into its agonized wail.
This "wail" could pierce through hearts, sending chills creeping up the spines of Morel and the others.
Though the Dark Sonata remained silent, its music had already conveyed its intent.
A fight to the death!
In an instant, slight tremors emerged beneath Akira feet, with similar vibrations rippling throughout the entire Demon Realm.
It was as if it intended to unleash all its monsters.
"So many?" Akira frowned slightly.
Through his perception, he could sense an increasing number of Devil Cicadas swarming toward them.
The Dark Sonata was going all out!
Otherwise, only death awaited it!
This was something Akira hadn't anticipated—that there would be so many Devil Cicadas in this Demon Realm.
But soon, his frown eased.
These were all experience points for his Pokemon!
He could release his Pokemon and let them revel in this tidal wave of experience!
Thanks to the Dark Sonata for the generous donation!
A whole bounty of experience points, delivered straight to them.
