Chapter 248: Powerful Monster Get!

When Chumley woke up again, he found himself lying in an unfamiliar room.

"Unfamiliar surroundings... that line's enough for one time." Rubbing his slightly throbbing temples, Chumley sat up from the soft bed and looked at the layout of the surrounding room, but couldn't make anything out.

The color schemes and styles of the various furniture and decorations all adopted a more neutral style. Aside from some Egyptian-style antiques suggesting the room's owner was likely an Egyptian or an admirer of Egyptian aesthetics, Chumley couldn't deduce anything else.

However, there was no need to analyze, because the owner came into the room not long after Chumley woke up.

Appearing before Chumley was Ishizu. She wasn't wearing her usual Egyptian-style white clothing, but had uncharacteristically changed into a casual T-shirt and long denim pants, allowing one to clearly see her curvaceous figure at a glance.

Rubbing his temples, Chumley thought for a moment, "I feel decent enough. I should be fine playing a couple of normal Duels, but if I had to go through another Duel like that last one, I probably couldn't take it."

"If a situation like that arises, I'll Duel in your stead," Ishizu said with a smile, noticing Chumley's gaze occasionally sweeping the surroundings. She explained, "This is my home. Due to the Antiquities Exhibition, I'll be staying in Domino City for a long time, so I simply bought a house here to live in."

"You bought a house just for a business trip? I didn't expect you to be a hidden tycoon!" Chumley said with some surprise. For some reason, in Chumley's childhood impression, he always felt that Egyptians should be poor, even if they wore gold and silver.

This was probably like many people thinking the Arctic also had a continent like the Antarctic, or the saying "fifty-six ethnic groups, fifty-six flowers"—all subconscious misconceptions.

In response, Ishizu explained with a smile, "My Tomb Keepers have a Legacy of three thousand years. The clan leader has the right to possess all the assets of the Tomb Keepers, and the previous leader was my father."

"Although the leader of the Tomb Keepers is usually inherited by the eldest legitimate son, with Marik's defection from the Tomb Keepers, I had no choice but to take over as leader."

"Oh, I see. So you really are a rich lady! Anyone who marries you would strike it rich," Chumley casually joked, without noticing the faint blush on Ishizu's cheeks. "But speaking of Marik, how long has it been since my Duel with him?"

"Your Duel with Marik was last night." Getting to the point, Ishizu said somewhat seriously, "Although Marik also fell unconscious like you, Chumley, his body actually suffered no major harm. Speaking of which, thank you, Chumley, for going easy on him."

As she spoke, Ishizu stood up and picked up a belt with a Card case attached from the bedside table nearby, handing it to Chumley. "Marik was taken away by Odion, the person who went with Marik to the Domino Pier, but he didn't take (The Winged Dragon of Ra)'s Card."

"Heh, if he had taken it, I wouldn't have been so polite to him. I fought tooth and nail for this." Chumley opened the Card case, and (The Winged Dragon of Ra)'s Card was on top of the Deck. After the Duel, he was utterly exhausted; Chumley collapsed before he even had time to Recycle his Deck into the System.

In fact, the mere fact that Chumley won the Duel and didn't swipe Marik's entire Deck showed just how tired he was. Don't forget one thing: his Duel with Marik wasn't a simple Virtual Projection, but a Shadow Game from start to finish.

But even though he was utterly exhausted, Chumley's gains were quite substantial. Not to mention the basic DP Points and obtaining the (The Winged Dragon of Ra) Card, Marik, that "three-year-old," brought Chumley many good things; first and foremost, he actually dropped two Cards in one go.

Although one of them was (Speedroid Double Yoyo), a Card that made no real difference whether he had it or not, the other Card was quite extraordinary.

With standard 3000/2500 "Soul" Stats, a noble Level 8, and a highly versatile Fiend-Type and FIRE Attribute, because of its powerful Effect, it's considered one of the "Four Great Gift Choices" in Duel Monsters, alongside (Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju), (The Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode), and (Nibiru, the Primal Being). Interested in the Opponent? Then give them a Level 8 big baby.

Nice! The Card Chumley obtained from Marik was the legendary "Level 8 Powerful Monster"—(Lava Golem), also known as (Lava Golem). Although it's a Level 8 Monster, because its Effect involves Tributing the Opponent's Monsters to Release them and Summoning it to the Opponent's Field, it can Counter a large number of Monsters with strong Resistance and is deeply loved by many Duelists.

Egyptian God Cards? (Sword Emperor - Tsumuhakutsunagi)? (Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon)? (Elemental HERO Phoenix Enforcer)? As long as you have two Monsters on your Field, they'll all be Released for you. Only a very few Monsters with "cannot be Released" Effects can escape (Lava Golem)'s Effect. Not to mention, (Lava Golem) also has a powerful Burn Effect that subtracts 1000 Life Points from its Controller during each Turn's Standby Phase.

"Marik, that guy, he's a good person, actually." Looking at the (Lava Golem) in his Card pool, Chumley suddenly made a random remark. Noticing Ishizu's gaze, he waved his hand, "No, it's nothing."

"But, it's getting late now."

Ishizu looked in the direction Chumley was gazing; on the "Eye of Udjat"-shaped clock hanging on the wall, it showed the current time as seven in the morning.

Chumley certainly hadn't forgotten that today was the official opening day of the Battle City extravaganza.

Watching Chumley get out of bed, Ishizu said with some concern, "But Chumley, your body hasn't fully recovered yet."

"It's fine, really. Didn't I say? While high-intensity Shadow Games are a bit much for me, I can Duel normally for an entire day without issues." As if to prove he was perfectly fine, Chumley flexed his arm in a bodybuilding pose, and then unexpectedly cramped up. "Hiss—ow, ow, ow!"

After much persuasion, Chumley finally convinced Ishizu that his body was actually fine and that the cramp was just an accident. Ishizu returned Chumley's Duel Disk to him, but she also made a request.

"Although you seem quite healthy, Chumley, you did suffer an Attack from (The Winged Dragon of Ra). Therefore, I must stay by your side and watch over you. If your body shows any discomfort, I will immediately stop your Duel," Ishizu said seriously. "You were injured in a Duel with Marik, so, as his elder sister, I must take responsibility."

"I told you, I'm fine." Chumley sighed helplessly. If Ishizu was by his side, how could he happily "swipe" other people's Cards... I mean, happily Duel? Although having a beautiful woman accompany him would indeed make him feel pleasant. Taking the Duel Disk and putting it on his wrist, Chumley extended his right Hand to Ishizu. "Then, for the time being, please take care of me, Ishizu."

"Please take care of me too, Chumley."
