Chapter 228: The Millennium Rod (88)
Chumley vaguely remembered that long ago, before he transmigrated, he once saw a seemingly troll question on a pretentious website:
"What should I do if my girlfriend accidentally tears up my entire Yu-Gi-Oh Deck?"
He didn't really care about other people's choices, whether they advised breaking up, arguing, or demanding compensation. But if the question was real and not a troll, Chumley would have only one choice —
Apologize to his girlfriend immediately!
It wasn't that he was a simp; a Deck without an Extra Deck has at least 40 cards. Someone who could accidentally tear up 40 cards with their bare hands would be nothing short of a superhuman. Ordinary humans simply couldn't do such a thing.
And in front of Chumley, there was just such a person attempting this feat.
"How dare you arbitrarily print so many fake cards, especially daring to make fake cards of my Blue-Eyes?! You're done for!" Kaiba glared at Chumley, who had also pulled a Deck from Pandora's Duel Disk, then retrieved his own Deck from the fallen Epimetheus's Duel Disk.
Chumley glanced at the cards in Kaiba's hand. "Don't hold back. Not a single card in this guy's Deck is a genuine card."
Then, Chumley watched Kaiba struggle with the Deck with an idiotic look, seemingly wanting to rip them all to shreds in one go. He suggested Kaiba transform into Balkan first before trying, darling.
Meanwhile, he flipped through Pandora's Deck card by card, driven by a desire to uncover the truth. Although similar to Epimetheus, there were a lot of fake cards used in the Deck, Pandora hadn't gone too far; at least there were still genuine cards.
For example, the three Dark Magician cards Chumley now held. Pandora, that guy, even his Magic Formula, Creature Swap, and Safe Zone cards were fake cards, yet his three Ace Monsters were all genuine cards, and…
Looking at the Dark Magician's card spirit within Pandora's Dark Magician card, glaring angrily at him for defeating its Master, Chumley smiled and placed the three Dark Magician cards back into Pandora's Duel Disk.
Although he had a habit of taking other people's things, Monsters that had already awakened their card spirit were outside his hunting range.
Furthermore, Chumley observed through the Magical Energy of the Millennium Ring that on the back of several Dark Magician cards, there were faint traces of bloodstains beneath the erased card back, but there was no so-called "resentment" or "obsession" on the Dark Magician's card spirit.
Especially, even though the Dark Magician on the card art was male, Pandora's Dark Magician's face leaned towards female, which sparked a guess in Chumley's mind.
He remembered that Pandora wore a mask because he was disfigured after a failed magic show, and he also lost his beloved wife after that same show.
In that case, perhaps this Dark Magician…
"Cackle, cackle, cackle…" Chumley's thoughts were interrupted by Pandora, who was lying on the ground and suddenly laughing. As if his upper body had no bones, Pandora sat up from the ground without using his hands for support, his eyes under the mask looking at Chumley.
His pupils turned gray, and even though there was a mask, Chumley could see an Eye of Udjat appearing on Pandora's forehead.
"Marik?" Chumley frowned, looking at Pandora. "Can't you afford a voice actor? You always use other people's voices."
"Hehehe, actually I'm quite surprised too, that the voice of my good-for-nothing subordinate is identical to that of the King of Duels. It's truly his honor," Marik, thousands of miles away, browsed through Pandora's past memories with interest, discovering some amusing things.
Although Pandora and Epimetheus claimed to be elite executives of the Rare Hunters, Marik didn't particularly value them because of it. Let alone the two of them, the entire Rare Hunters were merely pawns that Marik could discard at any time.
He had originally thought of keeping Pandora to deal with Yugi, but from Epimetheus's fate, it was clear that these subordinates of Marik were nothing but trash. If they were trash and no longer useful, he would simply throw them away.
Kaiba also noticed Pandora's current state. First, he kicked Epimetheus unconscious, then took the opportunity to tear his Deck card by card. Only then did Kaiba walk over to Chumley.
"Hmph, even President Seto Kaiba is here? No wonder those two trash lost."
Chumley pouted. "As if you didn't know, you watched from beginning to end. The Millennium Rod is quite handy, isn't it, Marik? You can control others from thousands of miles away."
"Marik? Isn't that the split personality that split off from Bandit Keith?" Kaiba heard the familiar name.
This guy consistently refused to believe in the existence of Millennium Items, always firmly believing that it was Bandit Keith's other personality, named "Marik," who tried to seize his Obelisk the Tormentor.
Ironically, in a sense, the "split personality" claim wasn't wrong at all; Marik truly did have a split personality.
"Hmph hmph hahaha, President Kaiba is as always." Pandora chuckled sinisterly, then suddenly turned to look at Chumley. "King of Duels, since you know the power of the Millennium Rod, you should also understand that if I wish, I can control both of you, right?"
"Forcing two people who were just fighting side-by-side to turn against each other, there's no more fitting punishment for you two who dared to offend us Rare Hunters!"
The Eye of Udjat on Pandora's forehead flashed violently, and an invisible dark power surged forth, causing a strange gust of wind to appear in this basement!
Marik eagerly looked at Chumley, anticipating his unwilling struggles and helpless despair once he fell under his control. Last time at the Egyptian Artifacts Traveling Exhibition, Chumley made Marik "carry a bag of rice up several floors" with a Shadow Game, and Marik held a grudge.
The airflow gradually subsided, but Marik frowned, looking down at the Millennium Rod in his hand. It hadn't accidentally slipped from his grasp like last time, so why couldn't he feel Chumley being controlled at all?
Chumley glanced at the listless "Pandora" with an idiotic look, lightly chuckling, "Can't do it anymore? It's inevitable with age, want to try again?" As he spoke, he raised a finger and tapped the Millennium Ring hanging on his chest.
Marik wasn't very bright, and his eyesight wasn't great either. Only then did he notice the existence of the Millennium Ring. "So that's it, you actually have a Millennium Item too, no wonder you can shield my power."
"But can you protect your companion?!"
The dark power attacked again. Kaiba only felt a strong wind suddenly blow in front of him, and then —
Nothing happened.
"What in the world is going on?!" Marik clearly couldn't accept it. The Millennium Rod in his hand glowed eerily, flashing like a bomb about to detonate.
"Is this guy an idiot?" Kaiba asked, puzzled.
After thinking about the various antics of a three-year-old, Chumley nodded affirmatively.
If it were any other Millennium Item, it might be understandable. But the Millennium Rod originally belonged to Seto. Trying to control Kaiba? Not a chance!
Chumley added, "In my memory, the Millennium Rod is also the only Millennium Item that reacts to a non-current owner — when Kaiba faced Ishizu, just as Kaiba was about to be dealt with by Ishizu, the Millennium Rod directly transmitted memory to Kaiba right in front of Marik."
It's like a simp always thought the goddess was his, only for the goddess to go off with another man right in front of him, a public NTR if you will.
