The university came into view as Xavier swung the bike into the side lane, cutting past a line of hover-shuttles dropping off morning students. Lyra tapped his shoulder once they were close.
"Here," she said. "This is the main gate."
He slowed the bike only long enough for the guards to recognize him—then they immediately waved him through like they were welcoming the president. Xavier didn't bother acknowledging. He rolled in, stopped near the central courtyard, and killed the engine.
Lyra slid off first, scoping the area like she expected the professor to jump out from behind a tree. Xavier took off his helmet, shook his hair out of his eyes, and started walking toward the main buildings.
That's when it happened.
A girl near the fountain turned her head. Her eyes widened. Her mouth dropped open.
"Oh my god— is that Xavier—?"
