Morning sunlight slipped past the curtains, painting lines across the black marble walls. A low hum filled the room from the central AI system.
Xavier's bed had an alarm function that wakes him up every morning by vibrating at a low frequency.
But Xavier was already awake, so the frequency was a bit intense. It was like a massage.
Xavier got out of the bed and then went to the washroom. And then, in the tub.
Steam filled the air. Water bubbled around him. His back rested against the edge, and his eyes stared at the ceiling like he was waiting for the universe to hand him another war.
Instead, he got her voice.
"So… you did remember."
The goddess, again. Sulking less now.
"Yeah, yeah," Xavier mumbled, tilting his head to the side. "Barely. I almost lost a full level of progress because I was tired."
"You've grown sloppy."
He smirked. "Nah. Just distracted. But now… I'm focused."
He flicked his finger in the air.
A soft chime rang.
