Chapter 146 - Chapter 146: Enrollment

Chapter 146: Enrollment

Three years later, Amegakure.

A blond-haired adult brought along a blond-haired child.

Logaro felt that he had been deceived.

He had thought he was coming to paradise—at the very least, a place with a strong artistic atmosphere. However, it wasn't as good as Kakashi had described, with everyone being an artist or something… Fortunately, there were indeed many places that needed to be blown up, which was much better than Iwagakure.

The main thing was that the combat attire was truly cooler than Iwagakure's.

So, Logaro still settled down here with his wife and child.

He had sought out the Uchiha clan. Their clan head was quite boring, uninterested in hearing him talk about art. However, his son, the child Uchiha Itachi, was very interested in the art he spoke of.

The knowledge-hungry Uchiha Itachi was a year or two older than Logaro's child, Deidara, so they could be considered peers.

Logaro then let his child go play with him when there was nothing else to do, saving himself from having furniture blown up every day at home.

Coincidentally, today was the first day of the official opening of Amegakure's Ninja Academy, and he prepared to fulfill his duty as a father by taking his child to school.

Spotting Uchiha Itachi from afar, Deidara's face showed an excited expression.

"Itachi! Look, my new clay spider!"

"I don't like spiders."

Nine-year-old Uchiha Itachi already had a clear sense of right and wrong. He was no longer the child who questioned everything; he was now a child with his own judgment.

"Tch."

Deidara tossed the spider into the sky, creating a burst of fireworks.

Uchiha Itachi had seen this scene many times, but his younger brother, Uchiha Sasuke, had not. Sasuke, only 3 years old this year, couldn't even walk steadily on slightly uneven paths and hadn't seen much of the world.

Originally, the Uchiha clan head was supposed to bring them to school today, but he suddenly received a rather tricky mission midway, so he had Uchiha Mikoto take them instead.

However, Itachi volunteered to bring Sasuke to school, and their mother was quite at ease, taking the opportunity to spend the day chatting with other mothers. Thus, she let the two youngsters come to school by themselves—after all, it was impossible to get lost within Amegakure.

Three years were enough for Amegakure to change most of the climate in the Land of Rain. The rainfall in this area was already close to that of the southern Land of Fire, and the air was not always damp, at least during autumn and winter.

"Brother, the spider exploded."

"Yes, that's Deidara's ninjutsu."

"It's art."

Deidara corrected Itachi's words, turning to stand behind Itachi and looking at the child much shorter than himself.

For some reason, when people are young, they always wish to grow up quickly, and seeing children smaller than themselves gives them an inexplicable sense of superiority.

This feeling was like seeing some cute little animal.

Deidara was 6 years old, and Sasuke was 3 years younger than him.

Taking some clay from his waist pouch, he chewed it with the mouths on his hands, and soon it transformed into another white clay spider identical to the previous one.

Sasuke, observing this process, looked up at his brother.

"Why does he have three mouths?"

"It's a Kekkei Genkai, like our Sharingan."

The blond-haired child handed the prepared spider to the dark-haired child. Itachi was about to refuse for Sasuke—knowing it was dangerous—but Sasuke had already retreated several steps, his face showing a clear look of disgust.

"Spiders made from mouths, how disgusting."

"You're disgusting! How dare you insult my artwork!"

Deidara felt his good intentions had been rejected and was somewhat enraged. He forcefully threw the spider in his hand towards Sasuke, but Itachi pinned it to a tree with a shuriken.

"Uchiha Itachi!"

"The art of our Sharingan surpasses your art. While it may be rude to say so, it is an undeniable fact."

Itachi revealed his two-tomoe Sharingan and glanced at him. Even though Deidara and he had a good relationship, he couldn't ignore Deidara bullying his younger brother.

"Sasuke, it's time for class assignments."

"Okay, big brother."

The two dark-haired children turned the corner, one behind the other, disappearing from Deidara's sight.

"Father, is our art really inferior to the Sharingan's?"

"What do they know about art?"

Logaro had no interest in the children's arguments about art. Having never created deep-sea bombs or aerial bombs, what kind of art were those few spider bombs? He wouldn't acknowledge such art. Uchiha Itachi's two-tomoe Sharingan wasn't art either; he had seen Nagato's Rinnegan next door, that was art.

"I'll prove to them that explosion is art."

"That's right."

Logaro didn't discourage Deidara's confidence. He took out a pendant from his pocket. This pendant was the symbol of Amegakure's newly formed Explosive Detachment, designed by Hatake Kakashi: three triangles with missing corners and a circle in the center.

"Wear this; it'll prove you're an artist in the making."

Deidara accepted the pendant from his father. It was a bit too large, so he hung it around his neck as a necklace.

"Don't cause explosions inside the school…" Logaro reminded him.

Ever since Deidara awakened the same hobby as him, Logaro understood how much of a headache it was to have a son who could create explosives anytime, anywhere. His prank-like explosions often turned their home upside down, making it impossible for him to properly research clay.

"If you want to blow something up, there's a lake behind this school with lots of fish. You can do it there."

"Mhm."

Deidara completely ignored his father's instructions, happily entering the school with the symbol representing radiation in his hand.

The principal of Amegakure's school was Yakushi Nonou. She actively requested this position, and everyone happened to think it was a troublesome job, so they unanimously approved her.

The entire school was divided into three grades, with two years of study per grade, for a total of 6 years of study. The enrollment age was 6, with graduation at 12.

These were the requirements for ordinary families in Amegakure, but major clans would absolutely not allow their children to start learning so late. Thus, most Uchiha parents required their children to enroll at age 4 and graduate by age 10 at the latest.

This requirement was essentially meaningless for the Uchiha children. The Uchiha clan head even wanted his children to study abroad—in these peaceful times, Konoha had sent envoys to reconcile with them.

He also wanted his children to investigate the strength of Konoha's new generation, but this idea was mercilessly rejected by his wife.

Uchiha Mikoto was unusually firm, absolutely refusing to let Sasuke leave Amegakure for Konoha. Who knew if a second or third Danzo would appear there, especially with Orochimaru still in Konoha.

Uchiha Sasuke thus became the earliest enrolled child in Amegakure.

And his brother became the youngest child in Amegakure's third grade.
