Chapter 3 - First Flight

"You crossed the veil, which no one can cross, how?" He asked again, a bit softer but still annoyed and she looked around again, eyes finding that of the shimmering air some steps behind the red dragon and she squinted her eyes at it, now noticing how it pulsed and pulled like a living breathing being.

"I crossed the veil? I crossed the veil, oh shit I crossed the veil! but I don't understand, how's that possible?" She asked.

"It shouldn't be, I don't know how it happened though but whatever thoughts you have of going back you better squash it up now, we can't have you running around spilling about our existence" he gestured for the others and they began to approach her, some already sliding down their dragons back and her body shuddered as her magic surged into her, filling her up and her legs immediately swished through the dirt floor and she twirled fluidly and took a stance she was familiar with.

" You won't chain me or force me" She gritted out and they all came to a stop at that, eyes glancing at their boss or something.

"Woah woah, wait a minute, we're not chaining you, they are there to know which dragon would take you back to the big city" the boss guy explained to her with furrowed brows and although it made sense, she still didn't relax even after she took down her arms from it's fighting position.

"I can do that myself, I know my way around animals" she said, stepping forward she inhaled hard and her eyes swirled as she glared into the eyes of the whole dragons and soon they all whined and whimpered before coming closer to her, snout nudging her affectionately and she smiled and began to scratch at their snouts, finding their sweet place by their under side and scratching there, alternating between them all and chuckling as they all relaxed.

" Magnificent..." came from the blue one and she looked up to see a female staring at her with awe filled eyes.

" How can you do that?" Came from the red one behind her.

"I think they recognize my blood" she said offhandedly, no need to hide it from them, they'd discover it sooner rather than later.

"Your blood?" They all asked in confusion as the blue one wrapped its tail around her and pulled her up even as the others whined discontentedly.

"Yes, I have the ability to resist fire" she replied.

"Resist fire, in other words...." He trailed off.

"Yes, it doesn't burn me" she finished off, settling in behind the blue dragon girl who smiled at her.

"Aleirraki, am Zena, welcome aboard" the girl said kindly but also hardly before snuggling into the back of the dragon before she watched the others do the same and she imitated them too, the red one was the first to leap Into the air, dust sprinkling around as it's powerful wings beat up, propelling it up faster and faster and soon the blue one she laid on followed suit in the same manner, her belly tumbling around as her body felt weightless, she could feel what resided in the top most part of her system pushing down on her and she gasped as the wings soon flared out and they began to glide back towards wherever they were taking her to.

"Where are we going?" She breathed out.

"Home" they all replied in unison and it touched a place in her she didn't know was still alive, where exactly was home for her?.. a lone tear trickled down her cheeks and she furiously wiped it off.

Why was she crying, she knew all her homes had all ended up in one shade of bloodbath and another but now, she still held into a small hope that maybe, just maybe she might find a home here. But that felt like a fools thoughts.

-------------------------------------------

I never quite caught your names" she said leisurely as they flew by the endless green scenery and soon her eyes was meeting towers that reached the sky from some distance away, it took her breath away.

"Am called Zedner, tamer" came from the guy on the green dragon that kept making twists lazily as it flew.

"Tamer?" She asked with raised eyebrows, in surprise at the quick nickname.

"We call you that because of your affinity to beasts, Xxavier " the one on the brown dragon tipped his head in a nod of affirmation.

" Okay, alright. Where is that?" She asked fingers pointing towards the breathtaking place as they approached it steadily and soon chatters filled her ears as they circled a city, different scents wafting up into her nose as her eyes tried to take in everything new she saw, she watched dragons of every kind sailing around the place, some with riders like the one she rode in but some riderless, taking leisure rides.

"Welcome to Shadow City " Zena smiled with a happy twinkle in her eyes and she watched them all gaze at the place with awe, fondness and reverence.

"This is beautiful and unexpected " she said as she kept staring unabashedly.

"This is home" came from Xxavier and she smiled at him as they began for the tallest of the towers, surrounded by lush forests that seemed as inviting as well as foreboding.

"This is the Castle, beside it there is the Caves, the caves are meant for the dragons, both pups and grown, while most of them have their different caves around the city and some beyond it, they come here from time to time" Zena explained and she nodded, absorbing the new information.

" But why are we going to the castle?" She asked in confusion.

"That is our residence-"

"Prepare for the return of the King and his Elites" Cried out from below as they circled the place twice before they all landed, the place feeling quite stuffy for the dragons and as soon as they alighted, they all flew off into the sky again and she bent as her body spasmed a bit and she could feel herself dry heaving seeing as she had nothing to puke out of her system.

"You okay?" Zedner asked with concerned eyes and she nodded, clearing at her throat as the feeling subsided.

"I think it might be due to it being your first time on air" came from Zena and she soared the whole lot of them a glance and deduced who the royal there was.

"King Logan, welcome back" came from before her and she found five knights and nicely dressed maids standing before them all bowing to the king, red dragon guy.

"Of course the one with the ugly face is the King" she mumbled under her breath and chuckles filled the air, Zena bursting into laughter as king Logan glared at her with narrowed eyes, annoyance seeping off his very pores and she merely glanced away, she had never felt this carefree ever in her life but there was something to this people that just made her demons all go away, but her magic still lurked somewhere in her consciousness, looking through a hole every now and then, being aware of what was happening and as much as she felt wary of the magic in her, she was suddenly trusting it bit by bit seeing as it prefers her alive more than dead and that was something, right...
