Chapter 6 - 6. King vs Squad 1

King's voice boomed. "Listen, be wise. I'll give you one last chance: stand down, and I'll spare your lives. But if you attack, I promise you, you will all die."

Reed's smile was laced with confidence. "We're the last line of defense, and SSD's Squad 1 Elite Unit, do you really think we won't be threatened by a mere Rift Walker."

Zen dropped down from the car roof, his movements fluid. He leaned against the car, whispering to Rose, "This is gonna be fun."

Rose's eyes met Zen's, her voice barely audible. "Are we really not going to assist them? I mean, they brought us here for a reason."

Zen's smile grew wider. "I think you heard the man. He said he'd handle it."

Reed burst into a sprint, racing toward King with incredible speed. King started descending toward the ground, his voice cold. "Okay, I warned you. Don't blame me."

As Kingwas about to land to the ground, Reed launched himself into the air, appearing before King in an instant. King's eyes widened in surprise at Reed's sudden acceleration.

Reed fired his guns point-blank at King, but King's wings swiftly shielded his body, deflecting the bullets. Reed swiftly countered, kicking King's wings and sending him crashing to the ground. Reed landed, his eyes still locked on King.

Reed's smile was triumphant as he approached King. But King sprang to his feet, charging at Reed with razor-sharp claws. Cole intervened, blocking King's claws with his sword, and Shinji suddenly appear besides King slicing at King's neck.

King recoiled just in time, Shinji's sword whizzing past his neck by mere inches, King narrowly avoided the fatal blow.

Reed, Cole, and Shinji suddenly jumped out of the way, anticipating the impending blast. "Now Ryder, finish this!" Reed shouted.

Ryder, the agent who had been left standing behind the SSD cars, swiftly took aim with the massive gun lying on the ground, its long barrel and reinforced frame gleaming in the light. With a burst of energy, the gun fired a colossal bullet that shot out as a golden blur, its speed rendering it almost invisible except for the gleaming gold coating.

King attempted to shield himself with his wings, but the bullet was too fast. It struck him with incredible force, sending him crashing through one building and then another, the impact so strong that he didn't even slow down. Debris and dust exploded everywhere as King's body plowed through the rubble.

Reed smiled, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "And that's why they call us Squad 1. Good job, everyone." He turned to Cole. "Cole, check if that Rift Walker is dead or just knocked out."

Cole nodded, cautiously approaching the wreckage. Reed's gaze shifted to Zen and Rose. "The director really thought we needed help," he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Zen's smile grew wider. "Don't get too happy, Reed. It's not over yet."

King's voice echoed through the air, "Okay, I underestimated you, but not anymore. Now I'll show you what true fear is." Reed's gaze snapped to the ruins, his eyes widening in alarm. "Cole, fall back now!" he shouted.

But it was too late. King burst out of the rubble, his black wings a blur as he moved with incredible speed. He gripped Cole's neck, lifting him off the ground. Reed and Shinji shouted in unison, "No, Cole!"

King's eyes blazed with fury as he rose into the air. "I warned you that if you attacked, I wouldn't hold back." With a swift, crushing motion, King's hand closed around Cole's neck, his fingers digging deep into Cole's flesh. Cole's eyes bulged, his face purpling as he struggled for air.

And then, in an instant, it was over. King's grip tightened, and Cole's body went limp. His arms dropped to his sides, his eyes frozen in a permanent stare. King's hand released its grip, and Cole's lifeless body plummeted to the ground, crashing onto the pavement with a sickening thud.

The elite unit members were shocked into silence. Ryder's voice was barely audible, a whispered "No, Cole."

Rose's face contorted in distress. "Okay, Zen the situation is now serious, help them." Zen's expression turned cold, his eyes glinting with an intimidating intensity. "No, why? Things are just getting interesting. Why would I ruin the fun?" He locked eyes with Rose, his gaze piercing. "It's just a shame I don't have any popcorn right now to enjoy this show."

Rose's anger and frustration boiled over. She whispered, "Sometimes I forget that you are just one of them." Swiftly, she took out her phone, her fingers flying across the screen as he tried to inform the director of the unfolding chaos.

King, still airborne, locked eyes with Ryder, who was struggling to get up from the ground after firing the massive bullet. "It's you who shot me, right?" King asked.

Ryder's eyes widened in fear as he scrambled to his feet, attempting to flee. But King was relentless. He burst into a frenzied sprint, his speed so incredible that only a black blur from his wings was visible.

Reed tried to block King's path, but the Rift Walker's velocity was too great. Reed didn't even see King coming, and before he could react, King had already zoomed past him.

As King closed in on Ryder, his sharp claws burst forth, aimed straight for Ryder's head. However, Shinji suddenly appeared out of nowhere, blocking King's attack with his two short swords.

The impact was immense, and Shinji was sent flying backward, crashing into a nearby building with a loud crash. His swords slipped from his grasp as he crashed into the building.

King's gaze refocused on Ryder. "Now it's just you left." Reed, who had been sneaking up behind King jumped into the air, preparing to shoot King point-blank.

But before Reed could fire, King vanished and reappeared behind him, his claws now embedded deep in Reed's stomach. "Did you really think that l had forgotten about you," King said, his voice cold.

As King removed his claws from Reed's stomach, Reed's body fell to the ground lifelessly, bleeding heavily. King's eyes locked onto Ryder once more. "Another one down. Now only you are left."

But Shinji appeared again, landing a powerful punch to King's face. The impact was deafening, a loud crack echoing through the air as Shinji's fist connected with King's jaw. The force of the blow sent shockwaves through King's entire body, but King stood firm, his gaze piercing Shinji, who was now overcome with tears. "You know, out of all these humans, you're the most annoying one," King said, his voice low.

Shinji's eyes streamed with tears as he stared at King, his voice barely above a whisper. "You monster... you killed them. You really killed them."

King's smile grew wider. "Since you seem to miss you friends so much what about p kill you next."

Meanwhile, Lila was on the call with the director, explaining the dire situation. The director's voice came through the line, "The only way to force Zen to do what you want him to do would be to say the statement: 'Zen, I, Rose your guardian, command you to...'"

Before the director could finish, Rose quickly shut the call, shouting, "Zen, I, Rose your guardian, command you to defeat that King and save everyone!"

Zen's expression changed in an instant. He leaned off the car and kicked a nearby stone that was on the ground with incredible force. The stone shot forward, slowly becoming engulfed in flames as it accelerated to a blistering speed. The flames turned a deep red, becoming a red blur as it hurtled toward King.

The red blur narrowly passed beside Shinji's head and connected with King's. The impact was cataclysmic. Shinji and Ryder were sent flying backward, their bodies helpless against the sheer force.

King, however, was propelled with even greater violence. He crashed through a SSD car, the metal crumpling like paper as he plowed straight into one of the nearby classrooms. The structure shook, debris raining down as King's body came to a stop, buried beneath the rubble.

King's voice echoed through the wreckage, his shout laced with anger. "I thought you said you weren't going to interfere."

"Trust me I really didn't want to interfere. I was now enjoying the show."Zen replied.

A pause hung in the air before Zen continued, his tone shifting to a more serious note. "But I think you heard what my boss lady said."

Zen's voice took on a resolute tone. "So, I now have to defeat you." As he spoke, his eyes began transforming. Zen's eyes turned an inky black, the darkness spreading like a stain, erasing all hint of warmth or humanity. His gaze became piercing and menacing, exuding an aura of intensity that seemed to bore into those he looked at.
