Chapter 10 - Who Said Rock Can't Beat Rock?

Landing a solid hit right on the damaged spot of the towering rock golem, the young man smiles in satisfaction as he watches it tumble down and fall, much to his expectation, after all, even he himself was surprised by the power that his previous punch dished out, making him feel like that is way beyond what his current stats can actually bring out.

Despite the solid, brutal hit though, the humanoid merely tumbles down and has yet to collapse on itself, managing to regain its footing just a few moments after its fall, the damaged right on where its face is supposed to be already spreading all the way to the back of its head, the middle of the crack revealing a faint, azure glow that the young man assumes to be its core.

"Looks like it will take more effort than just that…" unsurprisingly to him, Azrael realizes that his attack has yet to finish this decade-long opponent of his, this fact not surprising him one bit as he knows just how tough this golem can be.

'If it can even regenerate from that damage, just how can I deal with it?' as his eyes roams around trying to search for a path to create distance and prepare for his next attack, the young man thought to himself imagining how hard it can be, smiling as he convinces himself that even though this thing is an extremely tough opponent, it could get worse, and a good thing, it doesn't seem like it will.

Managing to dodge the approaching huge, rocky fist clearly aimed to completely incapacitate him, Azrael smiles as he turns his body completely, rolling over the towering golem's arms and regaining his footing there, allowing him to rush towards its badly damaged face once more, the hope-filled expression on his face getting better as he thought that he is getting closer and closer to ending the decade long fight he has with this stone golem.

"Hahaha!!! And who's the bastard who said that rock couldn't beat rock!?" forming his hand into a fist once again, Azrael remarks in a near sarcastic way as he leaps up from the golem's arms, launching him forward and pushing his opponent's arms just a tiny bit downward, a movement all too insignificant if it is any other time but right now, it gives him just enough time to reach his opponent's head once again without being impeded by its limbs.

Smiling as he reaches attacking distance once again, the young man drives in the punch without any hesitation on his part, not even considering the fact that his hand might be mangled and send him into a hell lot of pain, the only thing running in his mind is the excitement of finally being able to fight back against this impregnable fortress of an opponent blocking his way to the second floor of the tower.

His fist whistled as it tore through the air, the anticipation of bringing down the thing blocking him from destroying his opponent making him maniacally smile, his heart beating harder than it ever did before as the adrenaline hit him like a truck, each taut muscles previously storing as much explosive power as it can finally allowed to stretch and explode, his fist doing more damage than it ever did before as it completely shatters what is supposed to be the head of the rock golem, exposing an azure blue spherical core right in the middle of it, connecting to the golem's entire body.

Seeing the core of the golem, Azrael victoriously smiles as he thought that any second now, victory is finally in his grasp, only for the smile on his face to change and contort into a pain filled one as he felt himself being catapulted into the air once again, one of his legs completely mangled as he barely managed to dodge the retaliation of the golem.

Flying a few meters in the air in just a matter of a moment, he couldn't help but feel like some bones on his back shatters as he slams into the walls of the place he is currently in, the pain enough to make him wince despite all his experience of being pulverized by this golem, a proof to how bad the hit is.

"Gahaack… ptui… that hurts…" standing on one leg as he coughs and spit out blood, the young man refuses to give into the pain and recovers his maniacal smile, the retaliation from the stone golem just making it more clear to him that this opponent of his is reaching the end of its rope, and just a few more push from him will cause it to finally collapse.

"Never mind that, you're hurt as well, aren't you?" using one of his hands to wipe the blood flowing from the corner of his lips, the young man said as he looks up at the golem's core, the smile on his face containing a tinge of mocking as he thought that even the greatest fortress could really collapse, even the greatest dam could fall just because of a single crack.

"Don't worry, you won't be hurt for longer" Azrael said as he noticed that the sword he had previously thrown into the ground is right beside him, a comrade that accompanies him in his struggle in the first floor of the tower, testament to its age the wear and tear that no normal sword can sustain and still continue to function.

Seeing that the golem appears to gain even more strength from the damage, he couldn't help but shake his head as he takes a deep breath, wincing in pain as he felt some of his bones stabbing through his lungs, but he chooses to endure it as he refuses to get hit by the gigantic golem ever again.

Spreading his feet a bit wider apart, he bent his knees as he reverses the grip of the sword in his hand, the sword wielding arm's muscle turning taut once again as he aims the weapon's tip right the golem's core, his teeth gritted as he prepares to end this decade long battle against this creature.
