Chapter 49 - The Masked Man

Akira arrived in the arena, wearing a fox mask, kurotsuchi gave him a suspicious glance.

"Match Three: Kurotsuchi vs Akira. Begin!"

Both of them immediately started making rapid hand signs.

'Earth Release: Stone Bullets'

'Lightning release: Lightning ball.'

Bullets of stone and balls of lightning appeared in front of them and clashed into each other. Akira's jutsu was stronger and the lightning balls headed Kurotsuchi's way, who was able to dodge them.

Akira had already started making hand signs, seeing him, kurotsuchi also made some.

'Lightning Release: False Darkness'

'Earth Release: Stone golems.'

Three golems formed in front of Kurotsuchi. Akira pointed his palm towards her and a bolt of lightning came out of his palm and struck the golem with astounding speed.

The jutsu was able to pierce 2 golems and stopped inside the 3rd, knocking all of them out.

Kurotsuchi's eyes widened, she quickly made some hand signs.

'Lava Release: Quicklime Congealing Technique'

She spat clouds of a white powder at Akira, who dodged it easily.

'Water Release: Water Trumpet'

Kurotsuchi used this jutsu on the white powder on the ground, the white powder got mixed with water and started expanding and soon covered the whole ground. Akira jumped in the air to avoid the weird liquid that was formed, but he had to eventually land on it.

Akira tried to jump again but he couldn't, he looked below and the liquid surrounding his feet had turned into concrete.

"It's over for you," Kurotsuchi said and used Earth Bullets.

"It's futile," Akira said and used the False Darkness jutsu to shatter the concrete below and dodge the attack.

Akira said, "Just give up, I don't want to kill you."

"Kill me?" Kurotsuchi smirked. "Just try it."

Akira said, "Have it your way then," and made several hand signs and slammed his hand on the ground.

'Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave.'

An unbelievable amount of water came out from the ground turning into a huge wave of water and Akira was surfing on top of it with his hands in his pockets.

Kurotsuchi's eyes widened in shock. She thought, 'What kind of monster is he?'

She immediately made some hand signs and slammed them on the ground.

'Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall.'

A massive wall erupted from the ground, rivaling the size of the wave.

The water wave crashed into the wall, splashing the water everywhere.

Both genin were still standing, mostly unharmed by the previous jutsu clash.

Akira jumped in the air and used Lightning Release: Thunderbolt with one hand.

The bolt was about to hit the water when Kurotsuchi realized and manipulated the earth below her feet to rise up.

Kurotsuchi made seven consecutive hand signs.

'Lava Release: Ash Stone Seal Technique.'

A thick dust cloud came out of Kurotsuchi's mouth and headed Akira's way, he tried to dodge it, but the cloud changed direction and covered him, instantly turning rigid and binding him in place.

Akira tried to struggle, but he couldn't break free. He wasn't even able to make hand signs like that.

He thought, "What is this jutsu? I can't move an inch, I don't want to use that jutsu so soon."

Kurotsuchi didn't give him a chance to recover, quickly forming more signs.

'Earth Release: Earth-Drilling Bullets.'

Several sharp, spinning drills made of rock shot out from the ground around her, flying straight toward the immobile Akira.

Akira watched the drills get closer and closer. Just as the first one was about to pierce his chest, his eyes narrowed. "I didn't want it to come to this," he muttered.

Suddenly, his whole body got covered in lightning.

The lightning was so intense that the ash binding him instantly shattered into pieces.

Then the drills made contact with him and instantly shattered into pieces.

Kurotsuchi's eyes didn't even have time to widen. Akira appeared directly in front of her, his fist coated in crackling electricity. He swung a powerful punch straight into her stomach.

The impact was devastating. Kurotsuchi was sent flying across the arena like a ragdoll, skipping across the ground for several meters before hitting the wall with a loud thud. She lost conciousness.

The stadium went silent. Almost nobody knew what happened in the last few seconds.

Up in the stands, Kazuki leaned forward, 'What was that? Lightning was all around his body, I could barely see a blur when he moved. Is that the same jutsu the Raikage uses?'

Onoki, the Third Tsuchikage, gripped the railing of his seat. His expression was grim. 'That speed... and that much chakra. This boy is more dangerous than he looks. Was that the lightning armor? I've heard there have been a few shinobi who learned this technique other than the raikage, but most of them mysteriously went missing. There's no avoiding the daimyo's anger now, we can just hope that Konoha doesn't win.'

The proctor walked over to Kurotsuchi's body, and raised his hand. "Kurotsuchi is unable to continue. The winner is Akira!"

Akira walked out of the arena without saying anything, no one knew what was behind the mask.

"That was intense," a voice muttered from the crowd.

"Match Four: Ryuma Hatake vs. Rayden. Step forward!" the proctor called out.

Both of them walked into the center of the arena. Both of them carried swords on their backs. Ryuma Hatake looked calm, his hand resting on the hilt of his blade. Rayden looked aggressive, already drawing his long, curved sword as he walked.

"Begin!"

The two swordsmen moved at the same time.

Clang!

Their blades met in the center, creating some sparks. They clashed multiple times. For the first few minutes, they seemed perfectly matched. Every time Rayden swung his blade, Ryuma was there to block it.

However, Ryuma's expression changed. He suddenly jumped back and reached for a second hilt. "I'm getting serious now," he said.

He pulled out a second sword. Now wielding two blades, Ryuma looked intimidating. He stepped forward and clashed him blades with Rayden's. Rayden began to struggle, forced into a full-on retreat. Small cuts began to appear on Rayden's arms and shoulders as he failed to keep up with the dual-wielding.

Rayden gripped his sword with both hands and pushed his lightning chakra into it activation his chakra flow.

Blue sparks appeared around his blade, increasing its cutting power and speed. He swung at Ryuma, expecting to shatter his swords.

He applied wind chakra flow on his own blades.

'Wind Release: Chakra Flow'

Rayden swung his lightning-coated blade, expecting to shatter it.

The wind acted as a perfect insulator against the lightning. The wind chakra sliced right through the electrical current, completely ignoring its defenses.

With a clean snap, Rayden's sword was cut in half. Ryuma stopped his blades just an inch away from Rayden's neck.

Rayden dropped his broken hilt, trembling, he said. "I- I give up."

"The winner is Ryuma Hatake!" the proctor announced.
