Chapter 2 - A QUEST!?

*POV: ???/Leon Calrus*

*1st POV*

As the ship began to set sail, I took the chance to take a look around the old girl, wanting to understand every inch of this place if I was going to sail on it for a long time. It made sense that even if I think I had the memories of my character, better to get a grip on the ship's mechanics, its ins and outs. Alongside the magic powering it, which I think was the dragon involved in the backstory.

This also meant I would need to feed it gold or suffer a terrible curse via a special room for any treasures I found in my journeys. Odds are, though, that wouldn't happen as the only dragon in this world were the so-called "Celestial Dragons" via name or in the more literal sense, Kaido alongside one other character I can't quite remember.

So until such a thing happens, I think I'll hold off on that for right until such a point I'm proven wrong for doing so. Going below deck, the inside of the ship didn't fare much better than the outside, filled to the brim with dead fish and salt water, it would take weeks, probably, to get rid of it all. Yet as I walked through the ship, something strange happened, as memories not my own began to flash in my mind. I remember the faces of various species of Leon's crewmates who died in battle.

The celebrations and eternal party this place had going on, the songs they sang, and the stories told. I think I felt a tear going down my cheeks as it happened, and I could tell the part of me that was Leon Calrus was crying over his lost crew, his family. Knowing full well that his journey was over, but mine was just beginning, and hopefully this version of my character managed to avenge his crew before taking his final breaths.

Checking the various rooms, some were filled with dirty beds, and well,l my captain's quarters weren't fairing much better. Snooping around, I did manage to find a book written in draconic, meaning it was Leon's journal. Looking through it, it was a bit odd that I could read the language, well, not really considering how one of the features of the Way of the Ascended Dragon subclass lets you speak Draconic plus another language, or that's the general jist.

It detailed the ways to take care of the ship as instructed by Nhal-something or another. Honestly, I mostly sipped his more personal stuff, as while I did have his memories, I didn't want to snoop too much. At one point near the middle of the journal, I believe, he wrote down the details on how to repair the ship, and it was...odd to say the least. Honestly, I think whatever god decided to reincarnate me added a few details from the extremely vague backstory I wrote down for him.

TI stated the ship can be repaired slowly if supplied with new parts, sort of like the thesis ship, albeit in a more literal way than metaphorical. Of course, it would probably help if I had a shipwright, just like how it could help to have a helmsman to steer. The ship didn't have eyes after all, it just knows where I want to go, but not how to get there properly.

After all, no matter what, a ship can't operate without a proper crew, and right now this place was starving for one. I also saw something pretty interesting, a metallic punching bag covered in barnacles, which gave me an idea to pass the time. It was time for some intense training, to get used to my body and hone these muscle memories stored deep within my new body.

Dragging it up the deck was a lot easier than I thought it would be, probably due to my strength being 16, thank you, human race bonus. Setting it up in the middle of the deck or at least the most stable part of it, I began to ball up my fist, punching it. Sure, it stung a little, but this training would pay off eventually, and I would also need to figure out a way to unlock Haki, both armament and observation. I honestly didn't know if I could have conquerors, but if I did, maybe I could combine it with the Draconic Presence feature that was part of the subclass.

With each punch, I could feel a bit of my bones break a little, and my fist started to bleed, a clear sign that this body was out of practice. That I was the most likely cause of its rot, and that I would need to fix it. So I smiled, letting my fist clash against the rusty metallic punching bag, using it to further hone my newly gained body. Knowing not to repeat the mistakes of my past and become lazy, to take life by the reins if needed.

So I kept punching it with a smile on my face, knowing that while many dangers and tragedies lay waiting for me in this world, that wasn't all that awaited me. A world full of wonders and excitement awaited me as well, and as I delivered another punch just as the sun began setting on my first day in this world, the system screen popped back up.

[Quest: A Captain's Journey]

[Type: Main Quest]

[Description: Find your new crew in this world and sail the world, finding wonders both seen and unseen by all, with rewards just as mysterious]

[Difficulty: Depends on Obstacles]

[Rewards: ???]

I smiled as I saw that description, knowing that even if it wasn't a main quest, I'd accept it regardless, even if the rewards were unknown. So, of course, I said yes, it was all stuff I planned on doing anyway, and the rewards were just icing on the cake.

"Don't worry, system, you don't need to give me a quest to have me do the right thing, after all, theirs no way I'm throwing this new chance at life away!"

So I knew I would need to find a crew on my way to Loguetown and in the Grand Line as well, a crew worthy of boarding The Drifting Moon. As I kept on punching the metallic punching bag, I began to mentally make a list of things I should start doing tomorrow. One find any treasure on the ship and make sure it's properly taken care of, next make a small comfortable area for the crew/myself to sleep in/store food so that nothing bad happens to them or the food itself.

For right now, these two things will suffice, as I didn't need to make something overall complicated, otherwise, things would get confusing real fast. So, for right now, I would keep exercising till I found my crew and made my way into the Grand Line. By then, it would probably be a good idea to get a jumpstart on some form of Haki training, maybe I could combine it with the elemental strikes awarded by the Way of the Ascended Dragon subclass.

See if I could combine it with lighting or perhaps even the poison draconic strike as well. Perhaps the breath attack it offered could be used in some form as well, oh, I can't wait, but for right now, the basics. I didn't have a good handle on this body, and I knew that controlling my strength would be a problem regardless of the fact that I had my DnD characters' memories.

So until such a day I get used to this body, and it is at its peak once more, I will train and get stronger. I would punch this metallic bag every day, I would fight the pirates, and whatever new enemies I came across.

In time, I would get this quest really started and live my life to the fullest.
