Extra 0.1 Fishing with Xue Hua

Today I woke up determined to conquer the seas!

Gege had been locked inside his room for a while,

Replenishing his spiritual energy with meditation so I took it upon myself to welcome him warmly when he finally comes out!

It has been a month since he locked himself, I could've sneaked a peek at him if he hadn't placed a barrier around himself and if he

hadn't, then I wouldn't miss him so much like now, well maybe I still would've but maybe not like now when I'm completely deprived of him!

He knew I couldn't sleep alone but still decided to leave me

Alone!

For a month!

Well, our rooms are just beside each other..but that's besides the point!

When he first went into meditation, I tried to listen to the sound of his breaths that night, so that I wouldn't feel so alone

But that cruel immortal-

No wait, he's the kindest actually. I was lying,

So ahem- the barrier was as impressive as he was, not a single sound or movement could be felt from within.

Maybe he was afraid to be distracted by something so he took extra precautions?Although I wonder who would even dare to disturb him?

Nevertheless, I wouldn't understand his affairs since he is much much wiser than me, that's why I prefer to just listen and do as I'm told.

Not too long ago I learned from Chen Fang that gege likes fish soup, and before he went into meditation behind the barrier(cursed) he told me that he would be coming out around the fifteenth day of the next month.

And that date was tomorrow, so I had decided to fish all day for today no matter what!

While he was locked up, I was bored out of my mind without being able to see him but after i came up with this idea to welcome him with his favourite food (thanks to Chen Fang and his slippery lips).

Fantasizing about him coming out and taking a bite of something I cooked I felt all tingly inside so much that I started acting weird, my belly felt full and ticklish from within.

He's the first and the only person who can make me giggle and kick my blankets throughout the night while fantasizing, though it is a lot more embarrassing now that I admit to it...

Anyway, while he was locked up I scrounged through the library to find all sorts of books on fishing and cooking,

I did find around ten books which I decided to use in order to fight off the boredom but due to sheer excitement I ended up reading through the entire night.

when I came to, the sun had already started shining, and I was so hungry that the growl that escaped from my stomach sobered me right up.

If gege heard that, he might've gotten distracted...but thankfully I had already tested(?) the quality of the barrier and he couldn't have heard it even if I was leaning against the wall, a stomach growl was nothing, even if I screamed right into the wall the sound would by no way penetrate inside and reach the man inside.

Putting on some boots, a hat and a summer robe I went out ready to get scorched in the sun while fishing.

I had already collected a bucketful of worms so there was no need to worry about running out of baits, well unless they actually started running which would be quite a big problem.

As gege never liked earthworms.

He never failed to frown whenever he saw them, although there wasn't much difference in his expression than usual, whenever he was annoyed or something he had a habit of frowning for a brief moment barely noticeable before regaining his composure.

The worms were still alive even though I had picked them some time ago, wriggling inside the bucket, they almost seemed like buckwheat noodles if he tried to find a resemblance of it in food.

Well gege doesn't like those noodles either so of course he would like these wriggly worms.

I picked one up as I stared at it while crouching down.

It was quite fascinating, how it had neither eyes nor mouth.

I wonder how they eat food, they do excrete soil so they must eat something.

Meaning they do have a mouth.

But since I couldn't see it, it just means it doesn't have it.

Throwing it back to its family and peers I hopped along to the riverside with my fishing rod.

The day was humid, with sounds of birds and cicadas echoing through the forest.

It was rather loud and a bit distracting, I could never figure out people who found it relaxing. But that's not my business,

I found the best place to fish, it was deeper than the other spots in the river.

I could even see some fishes swimming around without a care in the world not knowing that they're going to get eaten.

It was kind of fun, imagining their reactions if they could actually react like people of spiritual beasts as they find out that they are going to get eaten.

But hardly most of the spiritual beasts possess such intelligence, and such beasts are the ones to get crafted into materials too.

And I don't think I saw them making any reaction other than extreme violence or cries, that memory was from when I saw one getting dragged away for an auction, well that also is the same case when one is on the verge of death but they are less noisy since the cultivators don't wait for it to finish whining.

I felt the warm rays hitting my back as I sat still just like how the books instructed.

My string laid still without moving for a few hours before finally-

It moved

My first catch!

My heart started beating fast as I felt its pull bending the fishing pole slightly, then more extremely.

My mind went blank and I immediately grabbed the pole tightly and started pulling and pulling and more pulling.

Before finally I managed to pull the fish out of the water!

A big catch!

It was bigger than my hands!

(Which was another way of calling it small as well)

The fish flapped around on the ground trying to find water, but as it was unable to get any its movements, intense at first slowly dulled before it finally stopped moving.

"Ah-"

I should've put it into the bucket of water....

I stared helplessly at the bucket full of water and water only, the fish had already died.

It wouldn't be good for tomorrow anymore...

I got way too excited that everything got silent and blurred except the fish's futile struggles in front of a being larger than itself.

Maybe that's what mortals also feel when they meet my species.

But that's not too important

Now, I should keep fishing !

When Yue Ran finally came out, he flinched, seeing the kid just standing a few inches apart once he opened the door, almost colliding.

A huge grin plastered on his face which he was suppressing into a more tame smile.

A large bowl being held by both his hands making him question his strange actions,

The bowl contained some type of content that Yue Ran would rather not know seeing as how it was still bubbling and its colour...

He'd rather not describe it.

However, he could figure out that it was this kid's own clumsy yet endearing way of welcoming him.

(Even though he didn't go anywhere)

So what was a slight indulgence?
