Chapter 52 - Chapter 51

"It's bad. I quit my job, so I can't go on missions with you anymore. I can't protect you now. Also, I won't have a salary, so I can't support you."

Hearing what Sienna said, Rowan hugged her and replied, "I don't need you to protect me or support me. I'll support you."

"You quit your job, so let's have a baby for you to play with. Then you won't be bored."

"Husband, babies cry. They're not fun. It's better to train them. As long as they don't die, I can play with them however I want."

Rowan was speechless. He felt like his wife wasn't wrong.

"Husband, I can't stop protecting you. As a robot, I must protect my owner. As a human, your wife, I'm stronger than you, so I must protect and take care of you. Do you want me to become a widow?"

Everything before sounded okay, but that last part? What was that about? Who told her about the word "widow"?

"Wife, don't say that. No way. If I die, I'll take you with me."

Rowan didn't want to continue this conversation. He needed to recover quickly so he could go on missions with her again. It was safer when she was within his sight.

"Okay, I'll definitely die before you, so you don't have to take me with you."

Rowan: Someone save me. Wife, it's okay not to talk.

The next morning, just as the wake-up call sounded, Sienna had already left. Rowan looked at the empty room and felt a little strange.

After washing up, he called out without thinking, "Wife, time to wash up."

Right after saying it, he remembered she was on a mission.

After getting ready, Rowan went to the cafeteria for breakfast and happened to run into Felix.

"Rowan, what's wrong with you? Why are you so distracted?"

"Huh?" Rowan realized he had bumped into someone. Seeing it was Felix, he didn't mind.

"Rowan, Rowan!"

Rowan looked at Felix. "What is it? Why are you calling me?"

"I asked why you look so distracted. What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing."

"Don't tell me you're missing your wife. She just left and you're already like this. If she's gone for ten days, half a month, or even a few months, you'll go crazy."

"I'm just a little worried. My wife has never been on a mission before. She's never killed anyone. What if she gets scared?"

After hearing Rowan's words, Felix thought he was just overthinking. With Sienna's skills and what she knew, it was impossible for her to be in danger.

As for never killing anyone, Felix wasn't so sure about that. He couldn't say for certain. That part was still unclear.

"Don't worry. She should be fine. Yesterday, your wife even came to me and told me to look after you, in case someone bullies you."

"Rowan, tell me, how did you make your wife think you're weak and easy to bully? And she truly believes it."

After hearing that, Rowan gave Felix a glance. "You just don't get it. My wife is too strong. I can't beat her. Of course she thinks I'm weak and helpless."

"No way, Rowan. Don't you feel guilty saying that? You're the top soldier in the country. You won first place in the national competition. And you still say you're weak and helpless?"

"I don't want to talk to you. You don't understand my happiness."

With that, Rowan left, not giving Felix a chance to say anything else.

After a week of bumpy train travel, Cuilan and Liwen finally arrived at their stop.

After getting off the train, the two of them looked at the big capital city and felt a bit lost. It was their first time visiting a place like this.

"Mom, let's find someone and ask for directions."

"Alright, let's go."

They kept asking around and slowly made their way outside the city. At the gate, they saw an ox cart, and Cuilan quickly called out, "Sir, where are you heading? Can you give us a ride?"

The man driving the cart stopped and asked, "Miss, I'm going to the Stone Brigade ahead. Where are you going? I'll see if it's on the way."

"We're going to the military district. We came to visit family."

"Why didn't you take the logistics truck from the military? It's a long walk."

"We didn't know. We're just farmers. If it's far, we'll just walk slowly."

"That makes sense. Hop on. I'll take you, but I can only bring you to the village next to the base."

Cuilan quickly thanked him, "Thank you so much, sir."

"Liwen, hurry up and load our things."

"Okay. Thank you, Uncle."

"No need. It's not easy being a soldier's family. They protect the country. If I can help their families, I'll do it."

After getting on the ox cart, the man started driving. Not long after, a military truck came from behind. The man quickly stopped and waved.

The military truck stopped behind them, and a young soldier got out. "Uncle, do you need help?"

"Young man, these two are going to your base to visit family. Can you give them a ride?"

He pointed to Cuilan and Liwen.

The soldier looked at their many bags and asked, "Ma'am, sir, who are you visiting?"

Cuilan quickly replied, "We're visiting my son and daughter-in-law. My son's name is Rowan, and my daughter-in-law is Sienna."

The soldier immediately stepped forward. "You're Instructor Sienna's mother?"

Cuilan was confused and didn't know who Instructor Sienna was.

But the soldier didn't wait for her answer and shouted, "Dagang, come help with the luggage."

"Comrade, it's okay. We can do it ourselves."

Liwen quickly stepped up and carried the luggage to the back of the truck. When he got there, he saw some military wives and politely said, "Hello," then went back to Cuilan's side.

Cuilan was already thanking the cart driver. "Sir, thank you so much for helping us."

"It was no trouble at all. You're too kind."

When Liwen came over, Cuilan gave him a look, and he quickly stepped forward and thanked the man again and again.
