Chapter 6: The Birth of a Sect

The sun broke through the clouds, scattering golden rays across the moss-covered ruins in the heart of Baruba Island's forest. Alex stood at the center of the stone platform, his white robe flowing in the morning breeze, the faint glow of a newly-carved Spirit-Gathering Array pulsing gently beneath his feet.

Around him were the beginnings of a vision—broken walls slowly being cleared by hand, a wooden storage hut he built with the system's basic construction tool, and a modest training ground lined with bamboo spears and practice swords.

This forgotten ruin had no name. It was merely the bones of something ancient… until now.

Alex raised a hand, and his voice rang with solemn clarity:

"From this day forward, this place shall be known as the Supreme Immortal Sect—a sanctuary of cultivation and the cradle of a future where mortals may ascend."

Ding! Sect Founded: Supreme Immortal Sect

+500 Origin Points

Unlock: Sect Management Menu

Hidden Quest Progress: 5%

Alex opened the system interface and saw the new [Sect Menu]—a basic framework for now. It showed:

Name: Supreme Immortal Sect

Disciples: 1

Spiritual Resources: Low

Territory: 1 Ruin Zone (Spirit-Gathering Active)

Sect Rank: Mortal Grass-Root Sect

Expansion Requirements: 3 more disciples, 1 spiritual spring, sect plaque

Slow start, Alex thought, but even the great Heaven-Severing Sect once began with two mortals in a mountain cave.

As if on cue, Lina arrived at the gate—if one could call two upright stones a gate. She was flushed with excitement and carried a bundle of fresh herbs and fish she had foraged.

"Master, the villagers have started to talk," she said. "Some are curious why the forest feels warmer and… more alive."

"They've begun sensing the spiritual aura," Alex replied. "It's weak, but for a world without cultivation, even a single array changes everything."

"Should we tell them?"

Alex paused. The main quest required secrecy—'Hide your identity,' it said. But spreading cultivation was also vital.

He shook his head. "Not yet. You are the first seed. The roots must grow before the branches reach the sky. If you bring me two more who are pure of heart and brave of spirit, I will begin."

Lina nodded. "I know two orphans in the village. Twins. They're always asking about swordplay and herbs."

"Then bring them," Alex said. "If they pass my test, they will become the next disciples of the Supreme Immortal Sect."

Quest Added: Recruit 3 Disciples

Reward: Basic Sect Plaque, 100 Origin Points

That evening, as the forest cooled, Alex sat beneath a twisted tree and opened the system mall. With over 600 Origin Points, he browsed the next tier of tools: minor formation flags, refinement cauldrons, even a low-tier Heavenly-Grade Pill Recipe—far too expensive now, but a sign of what was possible.

He purchased a Basic Refinement Cauldron (Low-Grade) and a set of Mid-Grade Yellow Pill Recipes for Body Tempering and Spirit Nourishment. The cauldron appeared before him in a flash of golden light—elegant, round, and etched with swirling dragons.

Item Acquired: Low-Grade Refinement Cauldron

+1 Sect Alchemy Facility

He lit a fire under it using spiritual flame drawn from his golden core and began to refine a batch of Spirit Nourishment Pills for Lina and the new disciples-to-be.

As herbs melted and energy danced within the cauldron, he felt the familiar rhythm of alchemy—each stir a step closer to his return.

"I may be trapped in this world," he whispered, "but I will not be idle."

Far from the island, in the court of a crumbling sea kingdom, a war council raged. Reports of mysterious energy shifts had reached the ears of nobles and pirate lords alike. A new power was rising—but none could yet imagine it had begun with a lone immortal on a nameless island.

The world was beginning to stir.

And the Supreme Immortal Sect had just been born.
