Chapter 20 - PART 20: “THE WEDDING”

The wedding took place in Winneba, the very town where it all began.

The holy spirit chapel on campus was packed with friends, lecturers, former course mates, and even curious students who remembered "that TA and the quiet girl from Basic Education."

Manda wore a flowing ivory dress with delicate embroidery that shimmered in the light.

Kwabena stood at the altar in a navy-blue agbada, his hands shaking just a little.

When she walked in, he forgot every maths formula he ever knew.

They exchanged vows like the educators they were honest, clear, without pretence.

"I promise to respect your quiet," Kwabena said.

"And I promise to love your noise," Manda replied.

Tears, cheers, and ululations filled the air as they kissed. Not secret anymore. Not whispered

behind lecture halls. Real, open, grown-up love.

RECEPTION HIGHLIGHTS:

• Their cake was shaped like an open book, with fondant inscriptions: Faith. Love.

FINAL SCENE

That night, in a quiet windy lodge hotel room overlooking the Winneba sea, Manda turned to Kwabena and whispered, "You know this isn't a happy ending, right?"

He raised an eyebrow. "It's not?"

She smiled. "It's a happy beginning."

And that was exactly what it was
