Chapter 70 - Frost against crimson

Isaac stood, holding his fists up. The figure before him calmly approached him, pointing the crimson dao at him. Isaac and whatever the thing before him fought for a brief moment, fortunately Isaac wasn't inflicted with any damages, a couple bruises however but no blood drawn. The puddles of water throughout the garden were slowly stained in red.

"That thing's a little strong, what the hell? Moving weirdly too.."

Then an icy gust of wind blew from the direction behind him, resulting in him attempting to turn around to see what it was. While doing so, the figure lunged at him, taking advantage of the distraction.

"Shit–"

Suddenly, a large glacier erupted from the ground, piercing through the figure's entire torso before the dao reached him. Despite the fatal wound, the figure stretched its armed arm at him, only for the whole arm to be frozen in the process, even the weird red fluid being frozen into red ice.

"Could've focused on the Sanguinist you were fighting."

Juliet spoke, walking toward him alongside Rayna who was at her side. Juliet wore an elegant white cloak over a silver knight armor. The white cloak was also adorned in sketches of cold colored blue with a small branding label on the cloak's collar, "Peace-Keepers."

"Were you both following me?"

"Oh no, Juliet sensed the influx of another Truth Seeker and was curious, and now arriving at this odd looking garden." Rayna answered in a casual tone. She looked around, looking up at a tree that sprouted from a tall metallic column protruding from the ground.

"Oh yeah it's becau—"

Juliet without any warning bolted toward the staircase, leaving Rayna and Isaac with the figure that was now frozen solid.

Meanwhile,

"You sliced my hand off.. You know I can simply regrow it, yet you still try?"

Roland stumbled a little bit back, staring at his missing hand. He couldn't see too far into his own arm's anatomy as all he could witness was the pool of blood dripping onto the floor of the platform. He was acknowledging the damage inflicted by Satoya, even going as far as to look at the blade of his katana, his red blood was visible on the top of the blade. He also watched as Satoya charged at him, preparing himself for another slash.

Roland took a step to the side, his step left a boiling puddle of blood, where yet another figure coagulated, an entity similar to the one that knocked Isaac off the platform, and the one Satoya had fought, however instead this entity was clad in Okamuran armor, which dripped constantly in a viscous bloody fluid. Then it manifested a spear with the same viscous fluid.

The figure and Satoya fought for only a brief moment, before Satoya was parried back. He still held his composure, despite the doubt flooding in his mind. He managed to kill something much like this one, however he admitted in his mind that was mostly a stroke of luck, which he believes isn't by his side now.

The figure lunged toward him, raising its bloody spear in the air. Yet suddenly, he felt someone lightly hold his shoulder, pushing gently back. He saw a woman with blonde hair tied into a ponytail, deflect the spear in an effortless manner with a rapier.

That same woman stabbed the figure in where he assumed to be where the liver should be if it had one, and then another swift stab that impaled through the figure's neck. She then swung to the side, causing the figure to tumble down limp. He watched as she also sprinted at Roland, lacerating him in a flurry of light cuts with her rapier before kicking him off the platform.

Finally, he saw a large pillar of ice erupt from the ground, a pillar so high it towers over the metal protrusions.

A couple seconds of silence followed, before the same woman turned to Satoya with a rather curious yet annoyed look.

"Is that guy I froze down there the one responsible for the 2 Sanguinists?"

"W-what?"

The woman grabbed him by the collar, she seemed extremely irritated now, despite him being totally oblivious to what she was asking. Were Sanguinists the weird red dripping figures? But he thought about it, and assumed it was, due to well, in his head, Sanguinists had sanguine in it, or part of it, what does sanguine mean? Blood red or something relating to that. Unfortunately before he answered or attempted to reason, he saw two people rush up the staircase. Who were Isaac and.. Rayna? Where did she come from? Now that he realized it, where did Isaac come from?

"Alright, first of all, Juliet please let go of Satoya.. Second of all, why and how is he here?" Rayna politely demanded.

"That is what I was gonna ask!"

Juliet's irritated expression immediately contorted into pure confusion as she slowly looked at Rayna. "Wait, he is the one who you all named the Regulator's Committee Subsidiary Division after?" She looked back and forth from Satoya who she was still having a hold of, and back at Rayna and Isaac.

Rayna and Isaac nodded in response.

Juliet let out a sigh.

"He is more underwhelming than I thought, seriously who said it was a good idea?" She at last let go of Satoya's collar.

"Uhm, that would actually be Isaac and Johnathan." Rayna answered quickly.

Juliet proceeded to cover her face with her white gloved hand, shaking her head as if this was too ridiculous for her to understand. "I guess, I didn't know he was a Truth Seeker, did he figure out what his Verity does?"

Unexpectedly, the towering pillar of ice transformed into a dark red color, followed up with a deluge of something unexplainable, the pillar of ice was restructuring slowly into a large mass of flesh, with the garden quickly being consumed. In an effort to halt this, a massive wall of ice formed near instantaneously.

Despite all this, everything went pitch black. With the sound of bones and flesh constricting, cracking, and beating in unison.
