Chapter 68 - Auburn

It was a garden, a garden of quite the boring variety. It was the only opening that was found that connected this rather weird location and the outside world, it was a connection between the oddity and the heavens, that very beautiful blue sky. The garden was nothing out of the ordinary, or well, there was nothing ordinary because an ordinary garden wouldn't have the unconscious body of an auburn haired woman in a research coat, gently cradling a piece of what was assumed to be epoxy resin, akin to something one would find in a science classroom in an Rieamaian or New Nebulaian school.

The woman herself was slumped over against the wall that was covered in the shade. The piece of the table seemed to have messy engravings that read out, "Suya." Which she could only read out as blood was seeped into the engravings in some sort of mystical yet gruesome hint that whoever this Suya was had importance. Aside from that, the woman had multiple slash wounds on her body, and also stab wounds, including a noticeable gaping hole in her collar.

To go back to the small garden, there were numerous puddles that were stained red, with some of the puddles being puddles of some sort of, red viscous fluid that boiled. Upon approaching one of the puddles, the crimson fluid began to recede to nothingness, leaving behind a normal puddle of reflective water.

In the reflection was none other than Kohayuki, who was the one in the garden. Unfortunately she had only come to this garden after getting lost, and too unfortunate enough to not be able to save whoever this auburn haired woman was. After some thought, she began to think about her own morality.

The more I think about it, I find it weird how I just suddenly feel numb to seeing dead people, but I guess it can't be helped, everyone is just like that, people die, people live, people that people this. Although killing is still a crime in all countries around the world, whenever someone goes through the long ass process of getting a job as a Regulator, that same killing law is somewhat lifted for people like them, or I guess "us." So maybe that's why a decent amount of Regulators become affiliated with criminal organizations…. Great, I'm getting lost in thought, gotta lock back in.

Kohayuki proceeded to leave the garden, taking one last look at the deceased woman. She hoped the woman lived a somewhat good life before her death, or had good relations with other people. So after that, she walked back into the peculiar endless hallway, holding the same crowbar she always used that miraculously is in decent condition.

She walked, and walked, and walked, to an endless point. She would look at the walls in boredom, and surprisingly, there were old posters that she had never seen. They were extremely old. One of which was a poster that was so old that it could be blown to dust upon a meager sneeze. The poster read information regarding the Gungnirus Military hiring engineers to help engineer more of the Gungnirus Throne's Spearheads, the notorious elite force that operates under the Gungnirus King, although she never really cared too much of the current affairs in Gungnir, 3rd Capital, she simply reflected on that poster. Another one was a poster of a film of a children's story known as the bunny and the dove, which originated from what? Maehwa?? It was either Huangfu or Maehwa that the children's story originated from. Unfortunately the film got a rating of 2.3 out of 5 stars, due to the studio's animation budget failures.

Kohayuki was casually tapping the crowbar on the ground, gazing over the posters on the wall. She couldn't help but wonder, whoever was putting these posters must have had hopes of connecting with the outside. As she was going to examine another poster on the wall, she heard a group of people approaching in uniform steps. She quickly hid behind a corner, watching a group of soldiers scout the location briefly before continuing forward. The group of soldiers were a group of 4, who wore some sort of black vests that had countless pockets containing ammunition and other firearms, along with the clothing itself being in the design of a darkened grey camouflage. They also had a Compass Rose badge on their arms, with the highlighted part being the North. There was also an individual leading them, holding a small hatchet that glowed a blue color that seemed to endlessly drip water.

Compass Treaty? Definitely from North Division, I'm not too much of a geek to know what rank, best I get on the move because I don't want to get captured.

Kohayuki proceeded to sprint as quietly yet swift as she could, sprinting for almost a minute, and then began walking to catch her breath. She continued searching for the others, sometimes opening a door that exposed some sort of grotesque creature that made her instinctively slam the door shut before retreating. She would eventually find a small journal entry left discarded on the floor, curiosity piqued leading to her leaning against a wall looking at the contents.

"Journal Entry: Day 148, year 10023?.

I wonder, I wonder for as much as I can count. Do Abel and I's mother worry about us? I feel bad for Cylee, always getting hit on by Julius, that piece of shit. Roland was kind enough to grant me a journal to write on. Abel is sick, I pray to the Sovereign Mother that he'll recover perfectly. I hope Julius dies, I hate him, he's a lunatic, always ranting about Ichorblight, ichorblight this ichorblight that, if he would continue speaking one more time I'm going to [smudged ink]"

She nodded her head in intrigue, muttering, "ah, I see.. Whoever that Julius dude was, he seems like an ass." She gently placed the journal back on the floor, clapping her hands together to get the dirt off before grabbing her crowbar again.

I'm getting really bored, where the hell are the others?
