As Sarn and Veer sprinted off to mobilize the war party, Cutie let out a low, concerned grunt, pointing at Kaya. He could see the tension radiating from her small frame.
Kaya let out a long, slow breath, looking back down at her blueprints for water filters and market stalls. She was trying so hard to build a civilization, a place of order and cleanliness in a chaotic, primitive world. But the beast world refused to let her build in peace.
She picked up her charcoal and snapped it cleanly in half.
"If they want to act like savage monsters," Kaya muttered to herself, staring at the jagged piece of coal, "then I guess I'll just have to show them what a human is capable of when someone touches her bottom line."
