Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

Bae Yu Jin looked at all her baggage. This was all she would need for her resumption at Seoyeon International High School. It was a school for all international students who wanted to study in South Korea.

She was going to be there as a transfer student. Her mother remarried a very rich man after a divorce from her father four months ago. Since then, their lives have transformed. They moved from Busan to Seoul.

Yu jin sat on her bed. Her life had changed in just the blink of an eye. Tomorrow, she would be on her way to her new school.

Yu jin closed her eyes and pulled the duvet over her shoulders. It was high time she slept.

The morning sun was bright, and a gentle breeze passed. Yu jin stared outside the window of the car as it drove past to her school. Her mum sat on the other side of the car.

They haven't had a normal conversation since the divorce. Yu jin felt her mum betrayed her when she signed the divorce papers home.

The memories of that day stayed fresh in her brain. Her dad begged and sobbed, but her mum turned deaf ears. When the divorce papers were signed, her dad was allowed to keep her little sister, Do yun.

That was how she ended up living in Seoul with her mum and stepdad. She hadn't seen her stepbrother.

He was in a school... the school she was going to attend right now.

The car rolled to a stop in front of the giant school. The driver got down and opened the door for her mum. She didn't wait for him to open hers, she opened it herself and stepped out of the car.

The air around her was nostalgic. Yu jin sighed softly. This was big. She thought as she looked around. Students were trooping in. Some old, some new, just like her.

"Kang Yu jin. "Her mother called with a note of satisfaction in her voice.

Yu jin turned slightly disgusted. She hated it when her mum called her by her stepfather's surname: Kang

"This is the best opportunity. Don't mess this up. "She said sternly. "Let's go to the principal's office and get your accommodation sorted out. "

After a few minutes, they reached the principal's office. Everything went well. The Dean of the Female's was called and ordered to place Yu jin in the most comfortable room.

Yu jin got tired of all the unnecessary ceremony. She was treated well because her stepdad was very influential and owned one of the largest shares in the school.

Yu jin was accompanied to the Female's dorm by the Dean and the driver who her mum had instructed to carry all her baggage up with her.

Her room was on the twelveth floor, the second to the last on the right.

She just nodded when the Dean asked if she was comfortable with the room. Her mum smiled when she reached the first floor of the dorm where she was waiting for her.

"How do you like it? Comfortable? "Her mum asked with an obviously forced smile.

"It's okay. I prefer my old school, though." Yu jin sneered.

Her mum sighed, not wanting to escalate things. She walked back to the car with Yu jin accompanying her. Then she faced her before entering the car.

"Have a nice term, jagiya. Remember that you are Kang Yu jin, not Bae anymore. Your brother, Si yeol, would be here as soon as your guide."

The principal had gotten behind Yu jin to bid Mrs. Kang. Yu jin stared blankly at her mum and watched her enter the car. She barely waved as the car drove away. The principal, Mr. Han kept bowing and greeting.

This alone irritated Yu jin.

She started to walk away into the school. The principal came after her and started asking numerous questions.

Yu jin stopped and turned abruptly.

"That's enough, Principal Han. I'm not a princess anyway."

She said and walked to her dorm room.

Surprisingly, the door was open. She remembered locking it before she went out. She entered.

"Who are you?"

There was a girl who was supposedly arranging her stuff. She turned, and her face melted into a smile when she saw her. Her braided hair that was long to her lower back swung as she whirled round.

"Hi. I'm your roommate, Eloise Clifford. Nice to meet you. What's your name? " She stretched out her hand for a handshake.

Yu jin watched her fascinated. Could someone be this lively?

Eloise slowly withdrew her hand. "I'm sorry, are you racist? "She was a mixed race. A black American.

"No. "Yu jin accepted the handshake. "Sorry, I was a bit off the hook. I'm B- Kang Yu jin. "

"Oh. That's nice. Let's be good roommates. "She offered with a cute smile.

"Yeah. Sure. "

The door opened, and two other girls walked in, chatting and laughing at the same time. Behind them were their luggage. They halted on seeing Yu jin and Eloise.

"You must be the new roommates. "The Korean girl said in Korean. "What are your names? "

"Eloise. "Eloise said. She was obviously delighted.

The two girls looked like seniors. They knew each other, so they may have been roommates in the last term. The other girl standing behind the Korean looked English.

"Yu jin. "

"Oh nice. I'm Do hee and this Charolette." She said. "Charlotte and I are taking the left room. You guys can take the right one." Do hee said. "Let's be nice to each other. We'll discuss some rules when you are done, maybe at night. "

Eloise nodded. There was joy dancing all over her face. She was still obviously excited. "Yes, Eonni. "

Do hee smiled at Eloise childishness. Then she and Charlotte went into their room.

"Is this your first time in Korea?" Yu jin inquired.

"Actually, yes. I studied Korean since about eight months ago. So I'll get along easily." Eloise relayed. "How is my Korean? "

Despite her grumpy attitude that morning, Yu jin couldn't help but smile at Eloise's childishness and excitement. It was cute. "Wouldn't say perfect, but you are really good."

Eloise giggled. She picked up her suitcases. "Let's go arrange our room. Oh my, this is going to be so fun. "
