Chapter 98 - Chapter 97

In a hidden spot, under the shade of a large tree, Kumoko's eyes narrowed.

"[Distortion Evil Eye]!"

"[Abyss Magic]!"

A heretic zealot was instantly twisted and killed! The Distortion Evil Eye had the power to warp space itself, a skill Kumoko had used against Potimas in the original story.

Abyss Magic, on the other hand, was specifically designed to destroy the soul and mind.

Even Kumoko, with her [Heresy Nullification], would be in danger if her soul took a direct hit from such a spell. With the two skills combined, the heretic died on the spot, unable to regenerate.

The moment she saw Kanna get teleported away, Kumoko knew Elliot was in trouble.

So, she had brought Mera and Sophia and headed towards the site of the massive explosion.

But now, an endless stream of crazed heretics was charging at them, which was starting to get on her nerves.

She drew her massive scythe. It was a weapon she had forged from the leftover materials from her own evolution.

Because it was made from parts of her own body, it was incredibly durable. No matter how many heretics came at her, they fell before her blade like grass.

She coated the scythe in Abyss Magic. Now, no matter how fanatical they were, they couldn't come back to life. She had already witnessed the heretics' regenerative abilities.

My god, she thought, they get chopped into pieces, turned into a pile of mush, and just get back up again.

The sight of minced meat reforming into a person was far too graphic. There was a child present, after all!

Even though Sophia wasn't technically a child, in her original world she was just a sixteen-year-old girl.

Seeing such a grotesque scene would definitely be disturbing. Kumoko, on the other hand, had seen it all in the Elroe Labyrinth.

So, to prevent a repeat of that R-rated scene, she took her scythe and began to cut a swath through the heretics, unleashing her inner warrior.

Honestly, Abyss Magic was the best! No matter how powerful their regeneration was, once the soul was destroyed, all that came back was an empty shell.

Some of the heretics' attacks landed on Kumoko, but they did no real damage.

The Kumoko of today was no longer the weak, pitiful, and helpless little spider of before.

Her physical stats and magical abilities had both reached a mythical level, even surpassing her own mother at her peak. These heretics couldn't even scratch her.

Under her great scythe, limbs and pieces of flesh flew through the air. Kumoko was like a wolf in a flock of sheep, a whirlwind of death and destruction.

At this point, some of the heretics realized they couldn't get past this half-human, half-spider monster. So, they changed their target, aiming for the infant and the vampire standing behind her.

Seeing the heretics charge towards him and the young miss, Mera's heart pounded with a primal fear. It wasn't for himself; he was terrified for Sophia.

But with Lady Shiraori overwhelmed, he knew he couldn't just stand by. Gritting his teeth, he resolved to fight.

Mera's base stats were pitiful, averaging around four hundred points.

For an ordinary person, that was respectable; he had trained diligently in service to his Lord for many years.

But against these crazed zealots, it was nothing. He wasn't even worthy of polishing their boots.

But as the first heretic lunged, a fierce, protective instinct surged through him. His determination to protect his young miss was so strong that he felt his own power begin to rise, his stats quickly climbing past the five-hundred-point mark.

This was the bond of a Kin; when their master was in danger, they were granted a portion of their master's strength.

Still, it wasn't enough. He needed more power.

"Lord Elliot… Lord Elliot gave me power!" Mera remembered the World Bubble, the strange, shimmering orb Elliot had given him.

He remembered the power that had flooded his veins. And with that power came a single, max-level skill!

"Dawn… JUDGMENT!"

A brilliant firebird erupted from Mera's body, its wings spreading wide as it streaked towards the charging heretics.

The zealots in its path were instantly vaporized, their bodies turning to ash in the searing heat.

At the same time, flames wreathed Mera's hands, a searing, agonizing pain that he welcomed. This was the power Lord Elliot had bestowed upon him!

Without hesitation, he threw a punch at the nearest enemy. The impact of his flaming fist sent the heretic flying.

As he killed more and more of the zealots, Mera felt himself leveling up. Even though he wasn't a reincarnator, leveling still increased his stats, giving him more strength to fight.

Seeing Mera actually holding his own against the heretics, Kumoko felt a surge of pride and relief.

But just then, one of the heretics in the back seemed to sense the tide turning. He stepped back and pulled something from within his robes.

Kumoko's vision was incredibly sharp; she saw it instantly.

It was a bloody, still-wet eyeball!

But this was no ordinary eyeball. It pulsed with an immense, terrifying magical power, far beyond what any of these zealots should possess. In that instant, an unprecedented sense of crisis washed over Kumoko.

Her expression hardened. With a roar, she unleashed a torrent of poison, a literal tsunami of venom that crashed over the battlefield. Any heretic it touched dissolved into a puddle pus and blood.

But she was too late. As her poison wave rushed forward, the eyeball had already sprouted a wizened, aged head.

A neck, shoulders, and a full body regenerated with horrifying speed. In a matter of seconds, an old elven man stood where the heretic had been.

The old elf flexed his newly formed limbs, as if getting used to a new body. Seeing the wave of poison rushing towards him, he calmly raised his right hand.

Sizzle—

A sickening sound filled the air. His arm was instantly corroded by the poison, but with a horrifying regenerative ability, it healed just as fast.

With this method, he simply tanked Kumoko's deadliest attack.

He then casually withdrew his mangled, inhuman hand, took the black robe from a nearby zealot, and looked at Kumoko.

"I didn't expect a mythical-level beast to appear," he said, his voice a dry rasp. "To avoid mission failure, I had no choice but to appear in person."

He… was the Pontiff of the Divine Religion!
