Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: Emilia’s Training!

But for Emilia, who had never undergone any training and was, in fact, just encountering high-level magic for the first time, to produce such an effect with her first use of [Kamisato Art: Soumetsu]... many would be astounded.

Remember, Emilia wasn't a reincarnator. Although she had a stat panel, she lacked the system assistance functions that reincarnators possessed. She had to rely entirely on herself to cast skills.

Magic itself was an incredibly precise discipline. Even casting a simple spell required a level of complex manipulation unimaginable to ordinary people.

Yet, Emilia, casting a high-level spell for the first time, executed it perfectly. And she was still just a child, around eleven or twelve years old.

Simply put, if Emilia successfully developed to her full potential, even hundreds of Ronandts casting their ultimate spells wouldn't match the power of a single one of her skills.

She could destroy heavens, earth, and even gods! That kind of mage truly deserved to be called a "Magic Lord"!

Elliot was now certain: the elves were a bunch of fools. Such a promising talent, who could become a great general with a little nurturing, was treated this way simply because of her bloodline and a beauty mark.

Besides, in Elliot's opinion, neither of those was a problem. Emilia's beauty mark didn't detract from her overall beauty at all; if anything, it enhanced it.

As for bloodline? Kumoko was still a spider, wasn't she? And she had climbed her way up step by step.

Only pet markets cared about noble bloodlines; humans (and sensible beings) valued ability.

A single skill had devastated half the forest. Emilia herself was stunned, lightly biting her lip, her body trembling with fear.

At this moment, Elliot took out an apple, a smile on his face. "Little Emi, are you still hungry?"

"...Lord Elliot, I... I don't think I can eat anymore," Emilia said, a bit dumbfounded and amused. Before, she would have sold her dignity for an apple. Now, she had eaten her fill... Happiness had come too suddenly.

….

The Forest Nation was incredibly vast. The Corrupted Forest was in a rather remote part of the inner circle, so very few elves ever came this way.

After all, a godforsaken place like the Corrupted Forest... why would a noble elf bother visiting?

It was the same reason a princess wouldn't appear in a bustling marketplace, or a king wouldn't show up in the slums.

Even if someone did accidentally wander into the Corrupted Forest, there was no need to worry.

Kumoko used her Evil Eye abilities specifically, the Dream Evil Eye which could make anyone approaching the Corrupted Forest instantly forget why they were there, eventually causing them to (obediently/meekly) turn back. So, the Corrupted Forest enjoyed a period of peace.

However, a persistent sense of crisis always lingered in Elliot's mind. Five days had passed, and the Demon Lord hadn't come looking for them.

But that didn't mean the matter was over. Quite the contrary.

The Demon Lord not coming to the Forest Nation meant she was likely gathering her forces, preparing for a large-scale invasion of the elves.

Ariel and Potimas were already mortal enemies.

Now that Elliot and Kumoko had fled to elf territory, it gave Ariel even more reason to mobilize her army.

But for the Demon Lord, to flatten the elf race, whose strength was very close to that of the demons, brute force alone wouldn't be enough. So, she was most likely biding her time, amassing power.

Regarding the demons' covetous eyes, Elliot couldn't do much. Even without him and Kumoko, the elves and demons were destined to clash eventually; their conflict was irreconcilable. War was inevitable.

Maybe in a year, maybe in fifteen. The only thing Elliot could do now was to increase their own strength as quickly as possible.

Although in the original story, Kumoko and the Demon Lord eventually reconciled, and for a period after Kumoko's deification when she lost all her powers, the Demon Lord not only didn't harm her but even ensured she was well-fed and comfortable.

But Elliot couldn't be sure if things would play out the same way in this timeline. So, he couldn't bet everything on Demon Lord Ariel's vague goodwill.

"To forge iron, one must first be strong." When his side became terrifyingly powerful, Ariel wouldn't be able to do much to him. Then, whether they cooperated or became enemies, the initiative would be in his hands.

The important task of teaching Emilia was placed on Kumoko's shoulders. She had volunteered for it.

Elliot thought about it and saw no problem. His powers were derived from the Dendro Gnosis and the inherent strength of an Earth Dragon neither of which matched Emilia's abilities.

Ultimately, he wasn't a magic-type fighter. His current role was more like a magic tank, using magic to enhance himself and fight others in close combat, rather than staying in the back and spamming big spells. So, letting Kumoko, who excelled in magic, teach Emilia was clearly the better choice.

As for Kumoko's motives? They were simple. Emilia was too beautiful, making her feel a tiny bit threatened. Though still young, Emilia was definitely a budding beauty.

What if, over time, feelings developed between her and Elliot? No, no, no! So, she proactively took on the responsibility of teaching magic.

Kumoko's training regimen for Emilia was exceptionally harsh. When Kumoko was in the Elroe Labyrinth, she was beaten and bullied daily, which forged her into the powerful being she was today.

So, her method of "caring" for Emilia's training was to push her to her absolute limits. For a young lady like Emilia, the thing she lacked most was practical combat experience.

For example, both Elliot and Kumoko herself had been tempered through constant struggle in the Elroe Labyrinth.

The trials and difficulties they faced were far beyond what Emilia could imagine. They were almost constantly on the brink of life and death, surrounded by enemies, needing to simultaneously deal with different types and attributes of attacks.

Extreme danger had honed her combat abilities to an exceptional level. Within 0.0001 seconds of danger appearing, she could determine her next course of action.

Emilia, though she had suffered hardships, severely lacked experience fighting others. That wouldn't do. Kumoko decided to give her an "elite education."

First, improve Emilia's physical fitness. As an outstanding magic-user, how could she be a fragile glass cannon? Many human mages actually possessed considerable power, their dazzling spells capable of inflicting explosive damage.

But once someone got close to them, even the strongest mage would be defeated. Almost everyone knew: to beat that high-damage human mage, just get into close combat.

Besides, Kumoko herself had suffered greatly due to poor physical stats. When she first started, her HP was barely in the twenties or thirties.

A single sting from an Elroe Wasp would nearly kill her. If not for the n%I=W god-tier skill that reincarnators possessed, she didn't know how many times she would have died.

Having learned from past mistakes, Kumoko prioritized improving Emilia's physical constitution. At the very least, if someone rushed her mage face, she could slap them back and teach them a lesson.

The current Arachne Kumoko was perfect: her strong physique meant she wasn't afraid of either casting magic or engaging in close-quarters combat.

For the next month, Elliot witnessed Kumoko subjecting Emilia to various inhumane training methods.

For example, today, Kumoko had wrapped Emilia's hands and shoulders with silk threads, like a marionette, forcing her to go on a long run.

From after breakfast until now, Emilia had already run a full ten kilometers.

A demon! Elliot couldn't help but think of his university days when, being too much of a homebody, running a thousand meters felt like dying.

Some of the heavier guys even fainted on the spot after finishing a thousand meters. Yet, under Kumoko's relentless pressure, Emilia gritted her teeth and completed the full ten-kilometer run.

Although she looked completely wrecked by the time she reached the finish line, she had, at least, endured.

At the end, she completely collapsed, and without the support of Kumoko's threads, she crumpled to the ground like a heap of mud. It was a pitiful sight!

In addition to this, there were various other demonic training exercises, such as enduring elemental magic attacks to gain resistance to that attribute.

Kumoko, with her Magic Supremacy, had incredibly fine control over magic. She could perfectly gauge the intensity of her attacks enough to make Emilia feel pain and torment, but not enough to knock her unconscious.

Elliot initially came to observe Emilia's progress, but later, Kumoko forbade him from watching. The reason? Well, sometimes Kumoko also couldn't control her strength perfectly...
