FACED CHALLENGES
( A well furnished sitting room, two young women, Helen and Gift were seated on separate sofa having a discussion ).
Gift: Where are the kids?
Helen: They went out with their dad.
Gift: Okay.
Helen: So Gift, any gist?
Gift: About what?
Helen: About Mark.
Gift: Oooh I didn't tell you.
Helen: What?
Gift: We broke up.
Helen: Why?
Gift: Helen I have always told you that Mark doesn't love me, do you know the multiple girlfriends he has?
Helen: But you are the closest to his heart.
Gift: You know you are merely joking Mark can't even think of that.
Helen: I don't understand you!
Gift: What don't you understand, we broke up.
Helen: For what reason?
Gift: He said he can't marry an orphan.
Helen: What's wrong in being an orphan?
Gift: Oooh everything is wrong darling, no family, no children to call my own, nothing I have nothing.
Helen: You have me.
Gift: Helen you have a family an happy one at that, but look at me I have nothing, nothing.
Helen: Enough of this Gift.
Gift: Am getting old Helen am 29.
Helen: And you are not too old to get married.
Gift: You got married at the age of 22.
Helen: You are not me darling.
Gift: See Helen I am fed up.
Helen: So what do you want yo do?
Gift: Think, find a solution and get out of this.
Helen: But you already have a solution.
Gift: There's no solution anywhere.
Helen: Okay, are you engaged with another guy.
Gift: No but I met this guy yesterday evening he's just a friend.
Helen: So what happened?
Gift: We talked and that was all.
Helen: Okay, Oooh my God am so sorry what can I offer you?
Gift: Damn you, I don't need anything at this moment.
Helen: Let's go outing.
Gift: No I wanna rest.
Helen: No you have to, you have to blow out your worries.
Gift: Alright let me go and change my outfit.
Helen: Okay see you soon.
Gift: Alright ( walks out ).
( Few weeks later, in a modern restaurant Henry and Gift are seen discussing ).
Henry: So, am listening.
Gift: Seem am sorry but I have no parent.
Henry: Meaning?
Gift: Am an orphan.
Henry: What!
Gift: Why the shout?
Henry: Nothing, eem I have a meeting to attend I would see you later.
Gift: Are you leaving me?
Henry: No but it's urgent.
theyGift: Okay let's go ( stands up )
Henry: ( follows her live the restaurant )
( In Henry's car, Henry and Gift settles down to go home )
Gift: Henry what's the problem you look worried.
Henry: Nothing.
Gift: Are you sure?
Henry: Gift who am I to you?
Gift: My boyfriend of course.
Henry: Really but you are not my girlfriend.
Gift: ( Shocked ) I don't understand you.
Henry: I thought you were the right partner for me but .....
Gift: But what?
Henry: You are an orphan.
Gift: And what does that have to do with our relationship?
Henry: Gift you are very beautiful and hardworking but...
Gift: What do you mean Henry?
Henry: I don't know how to say this but....
Gift: Say what?
Henry: I can't marry you.
Gift: Why?
Henry: I just can't.
Gift: Then give me a reason.
Henry: An orphan is the best reason I can give, am sorry.
Gift: That is not a reason Henry ( Sobs )
Henry: Where should I drop you?
Gift: My house aah God am fed up.

Gift: Is it bad to be an orphan?

Gift: Henry but... ( interrupted ).

Gift: ( Comes out of the car feeling confused ) Henry why are you doing this?
Henry: ( Wines up and zooms off ).
Gift: Aaah this is the seventh guy again is it really a crime to be an orphan ( walks to a nearby bar to ease herself off ).
( In Gift's house she is seen thinking and sobbing aloud ).
Gift: I wish I had parents but do I really don't I was raised up in an orphanage home without even having the privilege to see my parents, how could they die the same day Oooh God is this all true aaaaah am fed up,first it was Bob and then Stephen to Emmanuel to Daniel to Jonathan and then Mark now it's Henry aaaah am fed up ( A knock is heard at the door ) Who's there?
Postman: Good day, a postman.
Gift: ( Opens the door) Yes how may I help you?
Postman: I have a letter for you.
Gift: Oooh okay from where please?
Postman: I have no idea ( stretches the letter at her )
Gift: Okay ( accepts it ) thanks.
Postman: You are welcome ( takes his leave).
Gift: ( Closed the door ) A letter for me ( reads the content ) ooh it's from the orphanage home ( reads out the letter ) " Good day Gift, how are you this letter is from Mrs Judge, I wrote this letter to inform about the upcoming 50th celebration of the orphanage home which is on Saturday 8:00am. I would be so glad if you honour my invitation. Thanks and see you soon." Fifty years of existence that's half a century aaah am feeling weak I have to take a nap ( Walks into her room sluggishly ).
( In Helen's house, Helen and Gift are busy discussing ).
Gift: Helen I received a letter yesterday.
Helen: From who?
Gift: Mrs Judge.
Helen: About what?
Gift: Existence of half a century of the orphanage home.
Helen: Wow that's great.
Gift: Were you invited?
Helen: No.
Gift: Okay would you love to go?
Helen: Yes of course why not.
Gift: It's coming up on Saturday.
Helen: That's a day after tomorrow.
Gift: Yes.
Helen: I would visit you so we can go together.
Gift: Alright.
Helen: Gift.
Gift: Yes.
Helen: Am so sorry about Henry.
Gift: ( Sighs ) It's nothing.
Helen: So is there anyone?
Gift: No I can't even allow.
Helen: Meaning?
Gift: Am not ready for marriage now.
Helen: Why?
Gift: Am just fed up Henry was the seventh guy.
Helen: It doesn't matter.
Gift: Helen how many guys did you date before you got married to Isaac.
Helen: That's me not you.
Gift: Helen, Isaac was your boyfriend from the start and he eventually married you.
Helen: I know.
Gift: Helen I wished I had knew long ago that marriage is not for me.
Helen: You are too young to think that way.
Gift: Enough of this let's talk about something important.
Helen: There's nothing important other than for you to marry.
Gift: What outfit are you wearing on Saturday?
Helen: I don't know.
Gift: Are you angry?
Henry: No am not.
Gift: So what attire are you going to put on?
Helen: Anything green.
Gift: Okay I would dress on green also.
Helen: But Gift you really need to get married.
Gift: What did you prepare?
Helen: Yam and garden egg sauce.
Gift: ( Walks into the kitchen ).
Helen: Get me some food also.
Gift: Okay.
( A day to the orphanage home celebration Isaac and Helen are discussing ).
Isaac: Darling what's the matter you look dull.
Helen: Am worried.
Isaac: About what?
Helen: It's about Gift.
Gift: What happened to her?
Helen: She doesn't want to get married.
Isaac: Why?
Helen: She has suffered a lot of heartbreaks darling.
Isaac: Oooh so sorry what do you want to do about it?
Helen: There's a celebration coming up in the orphanage home tomorrow and I want you and I to go there together so if she sees us moving and playing together she would jealous to also get herself a partner.
Isaac: Okay that's a good idea.
Helen: Thank you.
Isaac: It's getting late let's go and sleep so that we would be agile tomorrow.
Helen: Okay ( They both walk into their bedroom ).
( On Saturday, Helen, Isaac and Gift are in a car going to the orphanage home ).
Helen: Darling.
Isaac: Yes babe.
Helen: I love you.
Isaac: I love you too.
Helen: You are the best.
Isaac: You are best among the bests darling.
Gift: Enough of this love play.
Helen: Are you jealous?
Gift: Never mind it would soon be my turn.
Helen: Oooh really let's watch and see.
Isaac: We are there.
Gift: Wow everywhere looks great.
Helen: I can't wait to step in.
( They all came down )
( The celebration started at actually 8:00am ).
Mrs Judge: Good morning everyone, we are all here to celebrate our home, where most of us here were raised,educated, tutored, trained and given a better life. We are so proud of everyone of you some are bankers, lawyers, business owners, managers and so on. One of this people is Ezekiel Diamond let's give him a clap. ( The audience clapped ).
Ezekiel: Good day everyone am so happy to be in this occasion today, this day reminds me of the very day I was adopted by my foster parent I was covered with my tears as I didn't want to leave this glorious home but now I am standing high because of this home if not for the care given to me by the home I may not be who I am today and to compensate that I will donate fifteen million for the up keeping of the home. ( The audience gave a sound and continued clapping ). And I won't forget someone in my life someone that without her I can't live for a day, I don't know if she is here but her name is Gift Leo. ( There is a loud noise as Gift got up from her seat and walked up to the podium, as they met each other they ran into a warm and friendly embrace ).
Gift: Ezekiel, Ezekiel is this really you, I was in the hospital for two months when you left me.
Ezekiel: It was not my fault, I have been waiting for this day because I can't do without thinking about you in a day.
Gift: I love you Ezekiel. ( And again they ran into a very close embrace ).
Ezekiel and Gift eventually got married and gave birth to three beautiful kids.
