Chapter 1 - family ties

Introduction

Lily:-

Lily, affectionately known as Momo, was a bright and lively young woman

. Her nickname, meaning "peach" in Japanese, suited her perfectly - sweet, charming, and full of life. But beneath her carefree exterior, Lily had a complex and sensitive soul.

Born and raised in Canada, Lily had spent most of her life surrounded by the love and support of her family. Her parents, Emma and James, were high school sweethearts who had always put their children first. They had instilled in Lily and her siblings, Ava and Jack, the importance of family, love, and loyalty.

Ava:-

Ava, or Yeji as she was nicknamed, was Lily's older sister. With her cute, baby-like features and outgoing personality, Ava was the epitome of sweetness. She loved her family with all her heart and would do anything to protect and care for them.

Jack:-

Jack, the youngest of the siblings, was a protective and caring brother. He looked out for Lily and Ava, always making sure they were safe and happy. Despite his tough exterior, Jack had a soft spot for his sisters and would do anything to make them smile.

As the family sat down to dinner, Lily couldn't help but feel grateful for the love and support that surrounded her. Her parents had always been there for her, encouraging her to pursue her dreams and never give up. Her siblings were her best friends, and she knew she could always count on them, no matter what.

But as they finished dinner and began to clear the table, Lily's mother dropped a bombshell. "Lily, dear, we need to talk to you about something," Emma said, her voice serious.

Lily's heart skipped a beat as she wondered what was wrong. Had she done something to disappoint her parents? Was everything okay?

"What is it, Mom?" Lily asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

"We've been thinking, and we've decided it's time for you to get married," Emma said, a smile spreading across her face.

Lily's eyes widened in shock. Married? But she was only just starting her life! She had graduated from college and was eager to start her career, not settle down with a husband.

"But, Mom, I don't want to get married," Lily protested, trying to reason with her parents.

"I know it may seem sudden, dear, but trust me, this is for the best," Emma said, her voice firm but gentle. "The man we've chosen for you is kind, successful, and will take good care of you."

Lily felt a surge of frustration and disappointment. Why were her parents doing this to her? Didn't they trust her to make her own decisions?

Just then, Ava walked into the room, a curious expression on her face. "What's going on?" she asked, looking at Lily and their parents.

"Lily's getting married," Emma said, a smile still plastered on her face.

Ava's eyes widened in surprise. "What? But Lily doesn't want to get married!"

Lily shot Ava a grateful glance. At least someone understood her.

"I know this may come as a shock, but please trust us, dear," James said, his voice calm and reassuring. "We only want what's best for you."

Lily sighed, feeling a mix of emotions: frustration, disappointment, and helplessness. She knew her parents loved her, but why were they doing this to her?

As the conversation continued, Lily's mind wandered to her boyfriend, Daniel. She had been dating him for five years, and she loved him with all her heart. But she had never told her parents about him, fearing their disapproval.

Now, as she faced the prospect of marrying a stranger, Lily knew she had to confide in Ava. She needed her sister's help to convince their parents to change their minds.

"Ava, can I talk to you for a minute?" Lily asked, trying to sound casual.

Ava nodded, following Lily out of the room. As they walked, Lily took a deep breath, preparing to reveal a secret she had kept hidden for far too long.

"Yeji, I have something to tell you," Lily said, using Ava's nickname. "Something important."

Ava looked at her curiously. "What is it, Momo?"

Lily took another deep breath before blurting out the truth. "I've been in a relationship with someone for five years."

Ava's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Why didn't you tell me?"

Lily smiled sheepishly. "I was scared of Mom and Dad's reaction."

Ava nodded understandingly. "I get it. But now that Mom and Dad want you to get married, we need to convince them to change their minds."

Lily nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude towards her sister. "Will you help me, Yeji?"

Ava smiled
