Chapter 26 - oh... fuck

The morning light stretched lazily over the rooftop, casting a warm, golden glow across everything. Birds chirped somewhere in the distance. The city beneath them was just beginning to stir—cars honking, people screaming about being late, the usual human chaos.

But up on that rooftop… it was quiet. Uncomfortably quiet.

Kikidori blinked awake first. His head ached a little. His joints cracked as he stretched and sat up. His black hair, messy as hell, fell over his eyes. He grumbled and rubbed his face, already annoyed by the sun.

Then he turned his head.

Haruna.

Still asleep. Still curled up. Still using his fucking shoulder like it was a goddamn pillow.

And worse?

They were cuddling.

Like actual skin-touching, arms-intertwined, knees-awkwardly-overlapping cuddling.

"What the actual fuck," Kikidori muttered under his breath. His demon brain screamed to move, jump up, set the building on fire, *do something*.

But he didn't move.

He just sat there… frozen… looking down at her.

Her eyelashes fluttered.

Her golden hair shimmered under the light.

And then… her eyes opened.

They locked eyes.

Neither of them said a word for a full three seconds.

Then Kikidori said, very softly, with the voice of a man deeply disturbed, "...Did we fuck?"

Haruna blinked. "WHAT?! No! No! No–no-no-no!"

"You sure?" Kikidori asked, raising a brow. "Because we're spooning and I feel emotionally damaged."

"I fell asleep!" she shouted, scrambling back from him like he was radioactive.

Kikidori stood up slowly, brushing himself off, and muttered, "I knew this rooftop had bad karma."

Haruna stood too, cheeks glowing red with embarrassment. "You cuddled me!"

"YOU cuddled *me!*" he snapped back.

"Liar!"

"Don't start, halo-head."

"Oh, screw you!"

"That's what I'm trying to figure out if we did!"

They both froze again.

Haruna's face turned redder. "Okay! Okay! This got out of hand! We just fell asleep on the roof. That's it. It was a weird position. That's all. End of story!"

Kikidori looked away, muttering, "...My pride is injured."

Haruna crossed her arms. "My soul is scarred."

They stood there, staring at the sunrise, trying not to look at each other.

Trying not to think about the warm, stupid, soft feeling from earlier.

Trying *really* hard not to wonder why they were both still kind of standing close together.

Then, as if on cue, a soft fluttering sound came from above.

Kikidori looked up.

Haruna looked up.

A Cupid.

The same fucking one from before.

It just hovered there.

Smiling.

*Winked.*

Then zoomed away.

"OH, I'M GONNA TURN THAT LITTLE SHIT INTO CHICKEN WINGS!" Kikidori roared, summoning hellfire in his hand.

Haruna just stood there, horrified. "You don't think… they shot us again, did they?"

Kikidori's jaw tightened. "...We gotta kill them all."

Haruna sighed and ran her hands down her face. "This is getting out of control."

Kikidori didn't answer. He was too busy staring at her again.

But not in the "I'm gonna kill you" way.

It was… different.

Like his demon brain was fighting itself and losing.

Again.

He shook it off.

Hard.

"Next time, we sleep on separate rooftops," he muttered.

Haruna huffed. "Agreed."

But they didn't move.

They just stood there.

Together.

Like two idiots who didn't know what the hell was happening anymore.
