"Assassin and Cursed Weapons"

"You shameless, despicable woman! Pay for your disrespect towards our Captain!"

Tione, having held back for long enough, charged even faster than Ais, who had already activated "Ariel," her recurved blade aimed mercilessly at Valletta.

Although their goddess had been recalled to the heavens, Valletta, as an executive of the Dark Faction, was already a Level 5, top-tier adventurer.

However, Valletta didn't make a move; instead, one of the robed figures charged forward, intercepting Tione's attack.

Ais attempted to provide assistance, but the red-haired woman lunged forward, engaging Ais in a fierce battle.

"Alia, we meet again!"

The red-haired woman wielded a grotesquely shaped black sword, each strike carrying immense weight.

Finn had mentioned that they had encountered the red-haired woman after the Monster Festival.

At that time, the red-haired woman had overpowered Ais, who hadn't yet leveled up; Finn had ultimately intervened to drive her back.

But now, Ais was completely different. Having leveled up to Level 6, Ais's strength had increased exponentially.

Ais's face was grim. While she had become significantly stronger, the red-haired woman had not remained stagnant.

"Just how many magic stones has she consumed?" The question echoed in Ais's mind.

Ais had long suspected that the red-haired woman, much like the Vendetta, had transformed from a human into a monster. And among monsters, the most terrifying were the enhanced species that grew stronger by consuming the magic stones of their own kind.

Ais had witnessed the red-haired woman consuming magic stones earlier; now, sensing the woman's power firsthand, her doubts and concerns intensified.

Drake and Tsubaki also joined the fray. Since they were in the Dungeon to test weapons, Tsubaki hadn't brought any other weapons and was currently wielding only the Returning Hammer.

This didn't mean Tsubaki's performance was lacking; she wielded the short-handled warhammer, sending the robed figures flying one after another.

As the battle heated up, Tsubaki threw the warhammer. Her immense strength imbued the hammer with incredible kinetic energy, shattering the first robed figure she struck like porcelain, and the subsequent impacts sent several others flying as well.

With her hands now empty, Tsubaki grabbed one of the robed figures by the wrist, then launched herself into the air with a powerful kick, sending a whip-like carnivorous plant flying.

Casually tossing the captured robed figure to the ground, Tsubaki opened her palm towards the mid-air.

The warhammer flew back, striking another robed figure before returning to Tsubaki's hand. She then swung the warhammer, pulverizing another carnivorous plant into fragments.

Truly a top-tier adventurer; she had quickly mastered the use of her new weapon and was already employing it with remarkable skill in combat.

However, Drake couldn't help but wonder whether he should create a uniquely styled set of armor, along with a red cape, to complete a Thor-inspired costume.

Finn's eyes lit up; Tsubaki's fighting style was unlike anything he had seen before. He could tell that it was entirely due to the warhammer in her hands.

A warhammer that automatically returned to its wielder; while its overall effectiveness was debatable, Finn was impressed by the abilities of the person who had crafted it.

Tsubaki's forging skills were undoubtedly top-notch, but Finn instinctively assumed that Drake was the true creator of the weapon.

"So, this is the result of your growth after your expedition?" Finn muttered to himself while continuing to fight.

Drake couldn't hear what Finn was saying, but his mind wandering didn't affect his actions in the slightest.

Holding the Sure-Hit Spear, Drake deflected a robed figure's short sword, then used the spear to pierce the figure's chest, lifting him into the air.

With a flick of his wrist, he flung the robed figure's corpse onto a nearby carnivorous plant.

The plant had barely shaken off the corpse when Drake had already closed the distance, driving the spear into the plant's body and shattering the magic stone within.

Drake withdrew the spear, his brow furrowed as he scanned the battlefield.

The new species monsters were much the same as those they had encountered before, but what caught Drake's attention was the group of robed figures.

Drake had initially assumed that these individuals were remnants of the Dark Faction, but their behavior was markedly different.

The footwork they employed seemed to be a specialized technique acquired through rigorous training, and their attack patterns were unlike those of adventurers.

Adventurers typically fought against the monsters of the Dungeon, but these individuals were different. Their attacks were all designed for maximum efficiency in killing human opponents, each strike aimed at vital human weak points.

And then there was their unwavering fighting spirit. Even when facing a squad of top-tier adventurers, they fought with ferocious determination, seemingly oblivious to the fear of death.

Drake could only conclude that these individuals were assassins... professionals of death, those who lived and breathed by the blade.

Drake also recalled that the Dark Faction did indeed have connections to assassination guilds; these individuals were very likely members of such a group.

Unlike adventurers, it was extremely rare for members of assassination guilds to level up to Level 4, like the Black Cat.

Therefore, no matter how skilled their assassination techniques, they were no match for the group, all of whom were Level 5 or higher.

If things had been normal…

Tione spun her twin blades, Urga, severing the surrounding carnivorous plants in two. But more robed figures charged forward.

"These guys really don't learn, do they?" Tione muttered.

Surely, these robed figures must be aware of the disparity in strength between themselves and their opponents; how could such slow, clumsy attacks possibly hit her?

Tione thought this as she prepared to use her twin blades to cut down these robed figures.

But for some reason, her movements felt sluggish. By the time her twin blades had swung down, the robed figure had already dodged, and his short sword had grazed Tione's waist.

The strange sensation in her body was already causing Tione significant discomfort, but what she found most incomprehensible was the fact that the shallow wound on her waist was causing her excruciating pain.

Tione was an Amazonian warrior who had emerged from a nation as brutal as a battlefield; she couldn't possibly be so frail as to be unable to withstand such a minor wound.

Moreover, she possessed the [Abnormal Resistance] skill; it couldn't possibly be poison.

Finn pierced a robed figure's throat with his golden spear, casually snatching the short sword from the figure's hand.

"Everyone, be careful! These are cursed weapons; don't let them hit you!"

In this world, magic and curses were two opposing forces.

Unlike magic, which possessed powerful effects, curses were far more insidious and sinister, and far more difficult to both prevent and cure.

The problem was that curse users were far rarer than magic users; let alone creating this many weapons imbued with cursed power; it required far more than just the power of curses.

Drake had also obtained a cursed weapon during the battle, confirming that its creator must also have been a wielder of [Mystery].

Baca, a descendant of Daedalus, the craftsman who had been continuously constructing the artificial labyrinth Cronus.

He too possessed [Mystery], and these cursed weapons were indeed his creations.

However, the fact that they had even resorted to using cursed weapons suggested that the Dark Faction was taking this food storeroom incident very seriously.

But surely, these cursed weapons alone weren't enough! What were the Dark Faction's true trump cards?
