Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: The War of Echoes

The air was thick with the weight of unspoken truths.

Yeo stood at the entrance of the newly revealed chamber, the dim light of the dungeon flickering in the distance. His mind was still reeling from the encounter with the Guardian of the Forgotten Path. Every word the ethereal figure had spoken echoed in his mind, the implications too vast and terrifying to fully comprehend.

"You will play your part in the rebirth of that war."

What war? What rebirth? And why him?

Yeo pushed those questions aside, focusing instead on the immediate task at hand. The dungeon's oppressive silence surrounded him, but there was a strange energy in the air now—an energy that pulsed with a power beyond anything he had encountered before.

The new quest was cryptic, but Yeo had no choice but to follow it. The dungeon's path had grown more treacherous, and it seemed the further he ventured, the deeper he was drawn into a conflict that had long been buried.

He walked deeper into the chamber, the shadows stretching unnaturally long in the light of his blade. At the center of the room lay a pedestal, the stone surface covered in ancient runes that glowed with faint golden light. Above it, suspended in mid-air, was a crystal, its surface shimmering with an otherworldly radiance.

As Yeo approached, a low hum filled the air, and the crystal pulsed in response. His heart raced. He instinctively reached out, his fingers brushing the cool surface of the crystal.

A surge of energy coursed through his fingertips as the crystal absorbed his touch. His vision blurred, the room spinning around him as an overwhelming rush of memories flooded his mind.

He saw flashes—battles, roars, cries of pain. A war unlike anything he had ever imagined, fought by soldiers with powers beyond the ordinary. Their faces were blurred, their weapons strange and glowing with unknown energies. The land was torn apart, cities falling to dust as massive forces clashed in the skies.

And then, amid the chaos, there was a single figure—tall, imposing, with eyes that burned like the very sun. The figure held a weapon unlike any other, a blade forged from the very essence of the stars themselves. Its presence cast a shadow over the battlefield, and the earth itself seemed to tremble beneath its weight.

Yeo was suddenly yanked out of the vision, his body falling back as he gasped for air. The crystal had shattered in his hand, its pieces disintegrating into dust.

The room was silent once more.

[Reward: Starforged Shard – Consumable Item. New Skill Unlocked: Starstrike – A Power of the Lost War.]

Yeo sat on the cold stone floor, his hands trembling. What he had just witnessed wasn't just a memory. It was a fragment of history—an ancient war, one that had shaped the very fabric of this world. The Starforged King was no mere legend. He had existed. He had fought in a war that tore the world apart, and now, Yeo had seen a glimpse of his power.

The Starforged Shard pulsed gently in his hand, its cool surface offering no comfort. He examined it carefully—this was not an item he could use lightly. Its power was ancient, and it carried with it the weight of a history he had only just begun to uncover.

But that was not all.

The new skill—Starstrike—burned with potential. Yeo could feel the energy building within him, a strange warmth that seemed to resonate with the shard in his palm. It was as if the power of the Starforged King was awakening inside of him.

Yeo stood, his mind still reeling. The past was not finished with him. Whatever battle had raged before, it was not over. And now, he was a part of it.

Yeo clenched his fist around the shard. He didn't know what this war was about, or why he was being drawn into it, but there was no turning back now. He had been chosen to uncover its truths, and in doing so, he would have to confront the legacy of those who had fought before him.

He took a deep breath, steadying himself. His journey had just become far more complicated than he had ever anticipated.

And he was ready.
