Chapter 697 - Chapter 548

The forest path wound through a dense canopy of ancient trees, their branches interlacing overhead to form a cathedral of green and gold. Sunlight filtered through the leaves in scattered beams, painting shifting patterns on the moss-covered ground. The air smelled of damp earth and the sweet fragrance of wildflowers that grew in clusters along the path.

Trailing Captain Acco Acheeth, Acuta's rust-hued coat ignited in the interlacing beams, his sapphire eyes mapping her every nuance—a silent, reverent study of the only soul that held dominion over his own. His broad shoulders brushed against low-hanging branches, and his lynx-like agility kept him silent despite his size. The scar across his left cheek wrinkling as he smiled.

"To what exact destination am I being abducted?" he inquired, timber dripping with the mischievous complacency of someone thoroughly relishing an unveiled labyrinth.

Acco glanced over her shoulder, her golden-tawny cheetah form moving with fluid grace through the undergrowth. Her dark brown eyes gleamed with mischief, and her lips curved into that signature crooked smirk. "You will see."

Atlas's grin widened. He quickened his pace, closing the distance between them. "You aren't going to push me over some edge, are you?"

Acco chuckled, the sound low and amused. "Only if you don't behave."

Atlas reached out, his hand closing around her wrist. He pulled her gently, turning her to face him. The forest fell silent around them, the birds pausing their songs as if to watch.

Acco pivoted her chin upward, obsidian irises colliding with cerulean depths. Her speech rasped with calcified cynicism, forged by decades of parrying catastrophe behind a buckler of mockery. "We aren't going to get anything done if we just stand here staring at each other."

Atlas's voice was soft, the warmth of a mink who had found something worth savoring. "But I like looking at you."

Acco smirked, her tail flicking with amusement. "Come on, smooth talker. We are almost there."

She pulled him forward, her grip firm and warm. Atlas grinned as he let her lead him through the final stretch of forest.

The trees parted, and the world opened into a breathtaking vista. A waterfall cascaded down a sheer rock face, its white waters crashing into a crystal-clear pool below. The spray created a fine mist that hung in the air, catching the sunlight and forming a faint rainbow that arched across the scene. The sound was a constant, soothing roar—a white noise that drown out the rest of the world.

Atlas stood at the edge of the pool, his blue eyes taking in the scene. "Do I have to meditate under a waterfall or something?"

Acco chuckled as she settled onto a flat rock, her legs folding into a cross-legged position. "Not quite." She gestured for him to join her. "The white noise will help clear your mind so you can focus. The more often you turn, the easier it gets."

Atlas nodded, lowering himself onto the rock across from her. His rust-red fur was damp from the mist, and the scar on his cheek seemed to stand out against his skin. "Okay. Now what?"

Acco stretched upward, the length of her body reaching for the sky as she took a deep breath. Her voice dropped to a measured cadence, the warmth of a teacher who knew her craft. "You need to clear your mind and relax. Take deep breaths."

Atlas nodded, following her lead. He inhaled deeply, his chest rising, then exhaled slowly. His eyes closed, and his shoulders dropped. "Okay," he murmured. "Thoughts are clear." A smirk tugged at his lips. "Well, almost clear."

Acco chuckled, the sound lost in the roar of the waterfall. "Good." Her voice dropped, taking on a hypnotic quality. "Now close your eyes and think about the moon."

Atlas's eyes closed, his breathing steadying.

Acco continued, her voice weaving through the sound of the waterfall like a thread through fabric. "Focus on my voice. Focus on the noise of the waterfall. Search for the moon in your mind's eye."

She paused, letting the words settle.

"The moon is a part of us. We carry a piece of it with us everywhere we go. Find that part of the moon that you always carry with you."

Atlas nodded slowly, his brow furrowing as he attempted to envision the moon. The memory surfaced—a silver disc hanging in the sky above Zou, its light casting long shadows across the forest floor.

Acco's voice was soft, probing. "Do you see it?"

Atlas's voice was distant, almost entranced. "Yeah."

"Good." Acco's voice carried the warmth of approval. "Now look at it. Remember how it felt the first time you stared at the moon and turned Sulong."

The memory washed over Atlas like a wave. He was younger, standing on the back of Zunesha with Carrot and Pedro. Pedro's voice was a constant drone, his lectures on Sulong long and winding. Carrot was bouncing with impatience. And then—the moon had risen, full and bright, and the world had transformed. The power had surged through him, raw and electric, and he had become something more than himself.

Acco's voice cut through the memory, gentle but firm. "Feel it. Allow it to move over you."

Atlas took a deep breath.

His eyes snapped open when he felt Sulong emerge from him. The transformation was sudden and electric—his rust-red fur dissolved into a cascade of luminescent white, his muscles swelling with power, his eyes burning with silver fire. The air around him crackled with Electro, and the mist from the waterfall seemed to part around him like a curtain.

He gasped, his hands coming up to stare at his transformed fingers. He turned to Acco, his voice carrying the breathless wonder, he had just achieved something impossible. "That actually worked!"

Acco smiled, her dark eyes warm with approval.

Atlas began to stand—

The transformation faded. The silver light receded, his white fur darkening back to rust-red, his muscles shrinking to their normal size. He stood there, blinking in confusion, his hands still raised as if he expected the power to return.

He looked down at Acco in disbelief, he had just been given a taste of something and had it taken away. "What happened?"

Acco coked her head, "You have to stay focused. You will get it. It will just take some practice."

She waved for him to sit again, her grin widening with a flirtatious edge. "Come on. Let's keep going."

Atlas smirked, settling back onto the rock. "I like how you think."

Acco's smirk was sharp. "I know."

The waterfall roared on, its white noise a constant backdrop to the dance of power and patience unfolding on its shore.
