Chapter 5 - LIN IS AN AINCENT GOD?

The Godly Wolf Butcher killed the Flame Serpent in front of him and opened the video.

"Such high damage."

That was his first reaction.

But the very next second, he froze.

"How can someone at this stage manage such smooth kiting?"

The Godly Wolf Butcher himself was an archer—one of the best. He understood better than anyone just how difficult flawless kiting was in Twilight of the Gods.

"Which guild is he from?" His eyes narrowed. "Find him. We'll poach him. Ten million a year."

After the initial shock, his thoughts immediately turned to recruitment.

"Understood, Guild Leader. I'll ask around."

Meanwhile, Lin continued harvesting Twisted Treants at high speed.

The drop rate in Twilight of the Gods was painfully low. After killing so many monsters, the only valuable item he had obtained so far was the Ring of Revival.

"Ding—"

A crisp system sound rang out as an item dropped.

Treant Shoulder Guard (Common)Requirement: Level 10, All ClassesEffect: Health +200Durability: 100

"Do you want it?" Lin asked, turning to Godly Shield Mountain.

"Yes," Godly Shield Mountain replied quickly, then hesitated. "But Snow Emperor… the price shouldn't be the same as the ring, right?"

"Three thousand."

Lin's tone was indifferent. Shoulder guards were common equipment and far easier to obtain than rings.

"Deal."

Money would eventually become meaningless. Lin only needed it for short-term living expenses. Once that was settled, he would begin trading directly with in-game resources instead.

Just then, a system announcement echoed across the world.

"Global Announcement: Congratulations to player Berserk Blade for being the first to reach the main city. Rewards: 500 gold coins, Black Iron set for the player's class ×1, skill book for the player's class ×1, free attribute points +50. May all players continue to strive forward!"

The announcement repeated twice.

"Damn!" Godly Shield Mountain glanced at the time. "That fast? Blade already hit level ten."

"The reward for leaving the novice village first is insane," he muttered.

Lin didn't care in the slightest. To him, such rewards were trivial.

"Solo?" Godly Shield Mountain looked at Lin again, surprised. "Your skill level doesn't look like a solo player's."

Then it clicked.

An ancient expert.

Players who once dominated older online games—masters of mechanics, awareness, and strategy—but whose hands had slowed with age. Traditional games phased them out.

But Twilight of the Gods was fully holographic.

No hand speed limitation.

Only understanding.

Seeing Lin completely focused on grinding, Godly Shield Mountain wisely kept quiet.

"Ding—You have reached Level 4. Free attribute points +5."

Lin dumped all five points into attack speed.

Attack Speed: 0.93

His HP surged by over a thousand, and his normal attack damage rose again.

-448-448-448

Five arrows were still needed to kill a Twisted Treant—but four was getting closer.

Godly Shield Mountain could only watch with envy. Most of the experience went to Lin; leveling for him was painfully slow.

"Finally," Lin said softly, eyes locking onto the new monster.

Twisted Treant (Elite)Level: 10HP: 5700Attack: 49Skills: Revival, Vine Spin, Vine Entanglement

The elite version possessed an additional control skill.

"Snow Emperor, want me to tank a bit?" Godly Shield Mountain offered. He was a pure tank build with decent early gear.

"No need."

Lin attacked directly.

-449-449-449

The damage was stable. Thirteen arrows later, the elite Treant collapsed—without ever reaching him.

"Ding—Elite monster slain. Experience +321."

Lin smiled faintly. Elite monsters were far more efficient.

Even Godly Shield Mountain received thirty-two experience points.

As Lin's HP continued stacking, global announcements rang out one after another. More players—guild elites and lone wolves alike—entered the main city.

Godly Shield Mountain could only stare in envy.

"My losses are massive," he muttered.

Lin remained aloof and continued farming.

Another drop appeared.

Treant Armor (Elite)Level: 10Effect 1: Magic Resistance +10Effect 2: Health +500Durability: 100

Godly Shield Mountain's eyes lit up. "Snow Emperor—this is part of the set you mentioned!"

Lin nodded and tossed it over. "Kill enough elite Treants and you'll get the full set."

"I thought you'd disappear when you logged off earlier," Godly Shield Mountain laughed.

Lin ignored him and continued grinding.

The village's rapid monster respawn was perfect—otherwise it couldn't sustain this kind of massacre.

"Ding—You have reached Level 6. Free attribute points +5."

In just one hour, Lin jumped from level 4 to level 6. His attack speed rose to 1.13.

Three more Treant set pieces dropped—every single one handed to Godly Shield Mountain.

A player could equip thirteen items in total.

Godly Shield Mountain already had four.

Only nine more to go.

Before level twenty, there was no stronger Shield Warrior set.
